Yesterday when I post the guy comments on lil Wayne, then later he states a list of his top favorite rappers. I had a person yesterday ask who’s your top 5 favorite rappers are. To be honest I never really made a list ever for that. Music is what relates to you and what brings you back memories you enjoy. My childhood growing up my older sister control the music in the house. She listen to Madonna, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Aerosmith, Nirvana, LL Cool J, and mostly rock and pop like New Edition and New Kids. So rap wasn’t really played in the crib really unless it was me at 4 or 5 watching BET rapping what songs came on Video Soul. In one of my radio interviews they ask me before what rapper I grew up listening to. At that time all I could think was damn whatever that was hot at the time. But I just replied Tupac when rap wasn’t the main choice of music. Still to this day I prefer R&B or Rock songs over rap and I know you can agree also.

Now let’s break down this list if I say Phoeno is my favorite then I’m conceited, but the songs I have recorded I can relate to and enjoy. Because everyone have a song they hear and be like I been though that before turn it up. So I would put myself number one on the list not just because it’s me. Becomes I can relate to myself more because it’s my life. But I’m not going to put myself on this list this time.

The South Park community of Houston, Texas is a broad post-World War II development in the south-central area of the city, just south of MacGregor Park (from which it gets its name) and the 610 Loop. According to the 2000 Census, the community has a population of 22,282. 81% of the South Park population is African American, compared to 25% for the city as a whole. Houston's Martin Luther King Boulevard (formerly called South Park Boulevard) runs through the area.

Rappers South Park Mexican, Scarface, Z-Ro, Phoeno, K-Rino, South Park Coalition, and Screwed Up Click are from and/or have lived in the South Park area. John Edward "Big Hawk" Hawkins and the legendary Screwed Up Records and Tapes are part of South Park rap history also.

The area is also infamous in the region as the origin of codeine cough syrup abuse, which spread across Houston and the Gulf Coast in the 1990s; this part of Houston is the birth of Chopped & screwed music. South Park is a notoriously dangerous section of Houston, as violent crime and prostitution has been mostly committed in this section of Houston.

Many streets in South Park are named after World War II battle sites [1].

Urban Vibe Recordings

On March 22, Phoeno chose a route that many would consider traditional in Houston. When no major label gave him a record deal he wanted, Phoeno created Urban Vibe Recordings as his own independent label. Check out the myspace page of Urban Vibe Recording.
