Tal Wilkenfeld & I - google this chick. It's not just me who thinks
she's THE coolest bass player in the industry today.
Hello!

October rocked big time! With my b'day, an 80s party, my friend from Australia staying with me and more craziness - it was a great month. But to top it all off...the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary concerts were beyond the realm of awesome. And that's just the amazing artists that played those 2 nights. The fact I got to hang out backstage in the gift suite and artist lounge blew my mind!! I met so many super cool people over those 2 days including some huge names that just about had me drooling and licking their faces. Lucky for them I contained myself. So many highlights....but I guess the hugest was getting to wear Adam Clayton from U2's guitar!!! Amazing. He's lucky I left my klepto tendencies at home.

With one of my absolute favs...Michelle Branch....

Hello peeps!!

Can you believe it's October? I def can't. Halloween, colder weather (up here anyway), my B'day (!!), Kylie Minogue concert to get all glammed up for, my great friend Leonie from Australia who I've known since I was 12 is coming for a visit, great gig in Mahopac NY and plans to end this year with a big bang. Oh yeah, I'm scheming!!

Tell you what though, November finished on an awesome bang. I got to meet one of my biggest inspirations as a songwriter and performer...the gorgeous and very talented Michelle Branch. She was an absolute sweetheart and so very gracious. Not at all a diva. We had a songwriting chat, I scored a photo and autograph.....and became an even bigger fan due to her sweet personality, professionalism and eagerness to connect with a total stranger. I was not let down. I've now had a few connections with Michelle Branch including her reviewing my songs for her new record which is coming out in a few weeks (yay!!). So, who knows...maybe we will cross paths again. I hope so. :o)

So, with my burst of energy, creativity and happiness for the rest of this beautiful year...this is what's going on.....
....

....

My new pooch Snickers!!!!....

October is adopt a dog from a shelter month!!
Meet Snickers.....my beautiful little girl!!! She's an 8 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback X German Shepherd. I'm in love!!! She's so cute and very smart. Poor little thing was in the ASPCA for over 2 months and believe it or not, on the kill list at Animal Control before that. She's been in our home for 2 months now and is forever part of our family. Please, if you are thinking of getting a dog, cat, bird, lamb...whatever...adopt!!! Save a homeless animal. The reward is so beautiful.....and in my case, hairy!

As always, if you have any suggestions on where or who to pitch my music to...please suggest away!!! Maybe you have a cool idea of a TV commercial where my song could promote a product? Maybe a TV show? An indie film? Maybe another artist that you think would be great at singing my songs? ....

Hey everyone!

I'm up to my ears in boxes...I'm moving apartments!! yay!! Let me tell you...I AM the box packing rockstar. I don't know about talents in any other areas, but apparently in the box packing field, I am really good. Not so good at cooking....or juggling...but this I can do.

;-)

Anyway, I'm mega excited. Why am I moving? Well in true NYC fashion, I am living in a hood where you could actually get shot walking down the street in broad daylight. Time to move. Don't quite fancy going out that way. I had more glamorous plans such as death by mirror ball.

1. NEW SONG!

NEW SONG!

Last year's event drew over 4,500 people! I hope if you're around you'll come see my show!! Tell your Jersey friends to pop on by too!!

Hey there rock starzzz!

So, on Tuesday night I'm out with the very fabulous peeps from Missing Link Music, my publishing company, at a showcase they had for Dan Ferrari at The Bitter End (check him out he's fantastic www.myspace.com/danferrari) and who do Danielle Stonner (A&R MLM) and I bump into on the street? Hayden Panettiere! (see the pic in my albums) She was soooo sweet. No attitude at all. And stunning. She was just gorgeous. We all chatted for about 10 mins about Australia, the music she was listening to at the venue and homeless people (oddly enough). It was a terrific end to a terrific night and goes to show that not all celebs are divas. And not all child stars shave their heads.

Also hot - I scored tix to Kylie Minogue's first ever NYC concert......I am beside myself. I have till Oct 11th to figure out what to wear...but I know glitter and false eyelashes will be involved...I can't even tell you how excited I am. Ridiculous. Beyond excited like a puppy.  :-)

Hey there rock starzzz!

NYC was amazing this weekend with perfect weather (at last!!!!) which I enjoyed by spending it in Central Park. Delicious. This is the weather that makes me come to life. I could honestly live on a rock with a lizard and I'd be very happy. It's my dream, actually. To settle down with a good lizard...find ourselves a lovely rock....though the lizard couldn't be one of those camouflage lizards or I'd keep losing him. Anyway, till then, I'm going to have lunch outside every day so that I can make the most of this stunning turn of the seasons. I hope you do too. And if you're settling into autumn/winter on the other end of the planet, I hope there's something about it you can love and look forward to. Beware, I will inevitably be rubbing it in your face that I have summer and you do not...don't worry, you can get me back in 6 months.....na na na na na

Eight Mile Creek - thank you

Thanks to the very talented and sweet MiG Ayesa who let me sit in and play a couple of songs in a mini-set with Justin Moore at
Eight Mile Creek last Thursday. It was a stack of fun and wow...MiG had some fabulous guests singing with him all during the night and it was a real treat. Guy Sebastian, who is basically Australia's version of Kelly Clarkson, he won the first Aussie Idol, sang a bunch of songs and blew us all away. Luke Dolahenty joined them and it was just fabulous. The 3 of them sounded incredible together.

If you get the opportunity, go to Eight Mile Creek for dinner/drinks in the downstairs bar on Thursday nights where you'll hear MiG play....and who knows who'll be joining him?!

Girls Rock The Night, Banjo Jim's - thank you

Thanks to everyone who came out to support us at Banjo Jim's on Friday night. So lovely to see your happy faces and to party with you after the show :-) Good times. Hey there rock starzzz!

So, 4 days ago a guy thought I was a Brooklyn Italian girl...seriously. And the more I talked the more he was convinced I was. He was astounded when I told him I was from Australia. He just couldn't believe it. At least it wasn't like when I was in Alabama and a guy thought I was from Sweden. When I said "No, I'm from Australia" he actually asked "Are you sure?" dead serious. Thing is, he was so convinced I was from Sweden I even thought about calling my Mum in Oz to check where I was born...it's not too hard a stretch...I'm a major ABBA fan, have blonde hair and love "Swedish Fish" (these are lollies/candies for the non-American peeps on this email.....I'm still a vegetarian!!)....but no I'm an Aussie apparently with a Brooklyn Italian Swedish (and sometimes thought of as Texan) accent. What would that even sound like?!

Here's what's going on in my very own multi-cultural lunch box....

1. STRIPPED recap
2. Eight Mile Creek - come along for a party Thurs April 23rd at 8pm
3. Girls Rock The Night - Banjo Jim's - April 24, 2009 at 6.50pm

4. iTunes!
5. Some dates

STRIPPED recap

Sorry if we disappointed anyone who actually thought we were going to strip. Yes, I actually had people ask me if I was going to dance on a pole....does anyone know me at all!!?? I wouldn't strip for a tip jar. I have standards. Plus in strip rehearsals Justin hurt his leg and I broke my plastic stripper heel. Our error was using the mic stands as the pole. They were not sturdy enough.

But the night rocked big time - huge thanks to everyone who came out to support us (and welcome to new peeps on this email blast!!) on our first official STRIPPED show. It was an honour for me to play with such talented guys. Justin Moore's songs are fantastic, it was fab to sing backing vocals and share the stage with him. MiG Ayesa sat in playing keys on 2 of my songs which was a major treat. And William Rottman (who many of you are familiar with at my GRTN shows) sat in on g'tar on 3 of my songs. Paulo (Animal) played sweet percussion. Then MiG (joined by Luke Dolahenty) and William each played solo sets and seriously rocked the Sidewalk Cafe with their insane talents. Please check these guys out. They are amazing....

Eight Mile Creek - come along for a party! Thurs April 23rd at 8pm

Eight Mile Creek is a very cool Aussie bar/restaurant on the lower east side. MiG Ayesa (who played with me at STRIPPED) has a continual Thursday gig there and has invited me to sing a couple of songs this Thursday night. I'm going down there early for dinner and would love for you guys to join me...say about 8pm? Come down, have some Aussie food and liquid, enjoy MiG rocking the place in the biggest way, and I'll sing a couple of songs. I would love to hang out with you guys. Plus MiG rocks - you don't want to miss that.

RSVP if you plan on coming so I can save you a spot at the table

....I can if you send me your email address!! I'd love to keep in contact and know what's going on with you too. So, if you're up for it, either reply or fill out the form on my page on the left side under the "Band Members" section. And be sure to check the ONLINE street team too if you want to help out. It's easy, just sending out messages to your friends asking them to check out my page, or putting widgets on your MySpace and FaceBook pages. I can help talk you through it.
Kisses to you!  Kyles xxx
