Another great meeting and another record crowd. Thank you Rob for pulling out all the extra chairs. If I counted correctly we had 21 people at the meeting and I now have over 50 people on the e-mail list. All of this in 4 months. I am truly amazed at the response. If I did not get a chance to meet you at the meeting send me an e-mail and say hello.
Next meeting ****CHANGE OF LOCATION and TIME**** Next meeting is November 4th at 8PM. We will meet at the Channing Murray Foundation http://www.channingmurray.org 1209 West Oregon, Urbana, IL 61801 Google Map of location. This is a very special meeting. We will be meeting with the U of I student group "Atheist, Agnostics & Freethinkers". This event will also be promoted by the Channing Murray Foundation. We could have a very large crowd.
We will watch "Jesus Camp" from about 8 to 9:30. After the movie we will open the floor for discussion.
If you can't wait until Nov 4th check out the Bloomington Atheist Meetup group http://atheists.meetup.com/563/calendar/6419594/ they are meeting on Oct. 21st.

Next meeting - September 22nd at 1:00PM in the Urbana Free Library. I have reserved the bigger room. We only have it from 1-3 – no extra time. If you can – get there a few minutes early it would help. Time is short. Vonnie is planning on giving a presentation about creationism. If you would like to give a presentation or tell your story – just let me know.

Future meeting dates…Nov 4th at 1:00 (Urbana Free Library) I could only get the small room. So we may have a space issue. Does anyone know where we can meet for free?

Community – Previously I was asking people to let me know if you would like to share your personal information. Thanks to Rob Dinsmore, we have a better way. CUFREE now has a MySpace and a Facebook page. You can get there from www.cufree.net or one of the links below.

MySpace…

Facebook…
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=4701443077

This way I won't have to keep track of who is sharing info and who is not. Sign on and join one or both of the groups. You will be able to contact many of the members this way and other friends of CUFREE.

Membership – You are all welcome to come to meetings as guest for as long as you like. However, I would like to encourage everyone to become actual members. Click on the support link on the cufree site and pick the level that is right for you. Students are only $5 and regular membership is just $15. We also have several supporting members already.

For those that missed the August 25th meeting, it was great.    We watched several funny video clips and a video of The Amazing James Randi on homeopathy.  We then had a deconversion story from Nathan Ingold.  Great job Nathan!  Nathan wants to get a newsletter started so….If you have any ideas or want to add something contact him at…xxxx  We also spent about an hour introducing ourselves.  There were 13 (a new record) at the meeting.

Next meeting - September 22nd at 1:00PM in the Urbana Free Library.  I hope we can fit.  Only 3 meetings and we are about to outgrow our room.  Vonnie is planning on giving a presentation about creationism.  If you would like to give a presentation or tell your story – just let me know.

Community – I would like for us to build a network of support and friendship so if you would like to share your e-mail or phone number let me know and I'll add you to the list.  Nathan's e-mail is above and you can reach me (Phil Ferguson) at… xxxxor by phone xxxx.  Chris Tuck has added his e-mail also, xxxx .

Amazon Links – On the www.CUFREE.net web page are several links to Amazon.  If you click on any of the links and then buy something we get 4% (6% on some things) of the sale.  You pay the same price and you can buy anything (car maybe?).  Next time you shop go to the CUFREE site, click on one of the links and then buy anything you want (remember you still have to pay for it).  I am having the webmaster add several more books so check them out.  I have asked him to add my new favorite, "Infidel Manifesto".  I highly recommend it.  Also, this fall will have a new book by Christopher Hitchens and the Letting Go Of god DVD by Julia Sweeney.

Membership – You are all welcome to come to meetings as guest for as long as you like.  However, I would like to invite everyone to become members.  Click on the support link on the cufree site and pick the level that is right for you.  Students are only $5 and regular membership is just $15.  We also have several supporting members already.

FFRF – If anyone is going to the conference (Oct 12-14th) Let me know and we can plan to meet in Madison .  Julia Sweeney will be selling her DVD there (on sale for the first time).  Bring me $25 (estimated price) and I will pick you up a copy.
