Friends, fans and family,

I regret to inform you all that TROLE will be playing their final shows in the coming weeks. It has been a difficult time for the band and we have decided that it is best to undertake different musical directions.

It is a long and wonderful story with great victories and humble sadness. We made some great friends, had a great deal of fun and played some kick-ass rock'n'roll shows.

We hope you all can join us at one of these final performances. We are trying to put together shows for Toronto, London and Port Stanley as well as what we currently have booked. I will get these dates up as soon as, and if indeed, they come to pass.

Here are the shows we have confirmed at this point:

Fri, July 4 - Kilroy's in Thunder Bay (Blues Fest Blues Walk)
Sat, July 5 - Kilroy's in Thunder Bay (Blues Fest Blues Walk)
Sun, July 6 - Kilroy's in Thunder Bay (Blues Fest Blues Walk)
Sat, July 12 – 3rd Annual Hotrod Hootenanny – St. Catharines
Saturday, July 25 – Coolz Warehouse in Skin City, St. Thomas

I will post any other dates we are able to play.

I will be sending out a final newsletter disclosing more details and where band members will be going from here.  Feel free to write us an email telling us your thoughts, sharing memories or whatever you will.

A million thank yous to everyone,

-Trole

Keyboardist, singer, songwriter and producer Richard Bell has died of cancer in Toronto.  He was 61.

Richard played with many music greats such as Bob Dylan, Janice Joplin, The Band, Ronnie Hawkins, Bruce Cockburn, Blackie & The Rodeo Kings and TROLE.

While in Firescape Studios making a record that was never released, TROLE had Richard into the studio to play on a couple of tracks. Chicken Stew Stomp and Rock'n'Roll Band.  Chicken Stew Stomp can be heard on the most recent TROLE release.

"He was a great character and an amazing musician.  We were very fortunate to have worked with him." said J. Trole Taylor.

We are going to post the songs featuring Richard on our MySpace site for free download for the next two weeks.

We would like to thank everyone who voted for us at the Jack Richardson Music Awards.  Unfortunately, we weren't aware that we had won nor that the awards ceremony was even being held on Sunday, March 25!!  Last year it was at the end of April and I assumed that it would be the same this year.  OOPS!!  So, they announce the award for Fan Favourite, and I'm at home booking dates for the upcoming tour when I get a phone call saying, "Hey, you guys just won an award!"  I felt pretty stupid to say the least.

I only found out about the voting part when I surfed on to the site a couple of weeks back so I posted it up on the site.  So, we didn't mean to look like arsehole rock stars.  I truly didn't even know that the voting had ended nor that the ceremony was being held when it was.

Thanks to all who voted for us and to all who worked hard to put on the Jack Richardson Music Awards, please accept our sincere apologies.  We certainly didn't mean to belittle your efforts, the event or the award.  We quite simply didn't know about it!

Hello everyone out there in MySpace Land,

Or should I say, "AD SPACE LAND!"

Recently I had a good look down our comments and was thoroughly disturbed at the amount of advertising being done by bands, people and who ever else learned to make an advert.  Furthermore, the ads aren't simple ads for gigs or whatever, they're half the page long with graphics bigger than Dubya's love for crude oil!  Isn't that what you should be sending out in bulletins?  Perhaps people aren't reading your bulletins.  WELL MAYBE IF YOU WEREN'T ACTING LIKE AN ADVERTISING COMPANY, THEY MIGHT ACTUALLY READ YOUR BULLETIN!!
It's funny because many people are pushing their band.  Now, everyone knows how bands go against the corporate system and wouldn't dare to go the same route as money grubbing commercial retailers and record companies would they?!?!?!  Of course not!  Because there is supposed to be a code of ethics between musicians that says, "THE MUSIC COMES FIRST."
Now, I realize that in our society we must advertise.  Of course we must.  P.T. Barnum said, "A terrible thing happens without advertising............NOTHING!"  So of course we all want and need to advertise.  What's really gotten to me about all of this is that people are so impersonal about adding friends and advertising for every single thing they do on everyone's MySpace site!
What we should be doing, in my opinion, is writing something like, "Hey, "insert band/person's name here" just thought I would stop by and say hi and see how you were doing.  By the way, we're releasing a new record/performing at this venue/doing whatever."  It's just a little more personal especially considering how most of the people on our friends lists WE HAVE NEVER MET!!
You see it comes down to this;  the subconscious mind causes us to move toward things we find pleasing and move away from things we find  displeasing.  SO, if we want MySpace to be something that we all continue to enjoy, then let's have a little more respect for everyone else out here who is trying to enjoy this site.  Let's try to be a little more personal and at least have the decency to stop by, say hello and then leave a respectfully sized advert if we must.

Hello suckaz,

I'd like to personally thank everyone who attended our 700th performance at Coolz Warehouse.  It was a great success and the crowd was FREAKING OUT which will look great on the video we shot that night.  A good audience always makes the shows that much better as the band feeds off the crowd and the crowd feeds off the band.  Everyone in TROLE greatly appreciates you all coming out and helping us to celebrate this milestone.

Tremendous thanks to all who helped in the set up and on the technical side of the night as well.  Johann Kinting & Pretima Kinting Kukadia,  Jared Walpole, Jack London, Jeff Fleming, Keegan Panjer, Cory Buote, Jeff and his crew at Digital ISO Productions, Alex  & Vinnie and all the great staff from COOLZ WAREHOUSE, Adam & the staff of CD PLUS Elgin Mall, Mayhem & AREA 51, everyone at HARDCORE TATTOOS St. Thomas and GROOVES RECORDS in London.

We will be mixing the Live CD very soon and will let you know when it and the Live DVD are ready for release.

Thanks again everyone!  It was a hell of a night and we truly appreciate your support.
