Let's Mourn the Real American Heroes "Michelle Malkin Wednesday, July 08, 2009
Flags flew at
half-staff this week in California's state Capitol. No, not for Michael
Jackson. For Private First Class Justin Casillas.
Pfc. Casillas died in a
suicide bombing attack on his Army base in eastern Afghanistan on the
Fourth of July. While Americans enjoyed fireworks and Hollyweird
mourned the "king of pop" with wretched excess, the family of Pfc.
Casillas learned that the 19-year-old paratrooper with the U.S. Army's
Alaska-based 509th Airborne had given his life for his country. His
father told the Woodland (Calif.) Daily Democrat that Justin just
"wanted to do his part."
The family has a legacy
of service: Casillas' grandfather served in the Pacific theater during
World War II; his father served in Vietnam. But the death of Pfc.
Casillas didn't make front-page headlines. His funeral won't receive
wall-to-wall coverage on cable TV.
Instead, it's been all MJ, all night and day: Nurses! Nannies! Doctors! Drug raids! Custody battles! Casket rides!
Jacko fever spread to
the Beltway, where the House of Representatives held a moment of
silence for the entertainer. President Obama sent a highly publicized
letter of condolence to the Jackson family. And topping them all, Rep.
Sheila Jackson-Lee, D-Texas, drafted a 1,600-word congressional
resolution that "recognizes Michael Jackson as a global humanitarian
and a noted leader in the fight against worldwide hunger and medical
crises; and celebrates Michael Jackson as an accomplished contributor
to the worlds of arts and entertainment, scientific advances in the
treatment of HIV/AIDS, and global food security."
Jackson-Lee
laundry-listed every charitable act and donation by Jackson in the
House resolution -- and would have included all the times he said
"thank you" and "God bless you" if there had been more room. Is it too
much to ask our lawmakers to restrain themselves from acting like
"Entertainment Tonight" spokesmodels and Tiger Beat correspondents?
I stand with GOP Rep.
Peter King of New York, who rightly skewered these celebrity-worshiping
warped priorities as "an orgy of glorification." Jackson could sing and
dance. But he was no American hero. In a YouTube video over the
weekend, King lambasted the media circus:
"All we hear about is
Michael Jackson. Let's knock out the psychobabble. He was a pervert …
and to be giving this much coverage to him, day in and day out, what
does it say about us as a country? … I just think we're too politically
correct. No one wants to stand up and say, 'We don't need Michael
Jackson!' He died, he had some talent, but fine, there are people dying
every day. There are men and women dying every day in Afghanistan,
let's give them the credit they deserve."
Yes, let's do that.
Another soldier died
with Pfc. Casillas on Independence Day at Combat Outpost Zerok in
Afghanistan's Paktika province. He was 20-year-old Pfc. Aaron
Fairbairn. Fairbairn's stepfather, David Masters, took to the social
networking service Twitter to spread the word and keep Fairbairn's
legacy alive. "On Independence Day, a few hours ago, they killed my son
Aaron in Afghanistan," Masters wrote.
According to the
Department of Defense, both Fairbairn and Casillas died from "wounds
suffered when insurgents attacked the outpost using small arms and
indirect fires." The Taliban claimed credit for the complex rocket and
mortar attack involving a reported 8,000 kg of explosives.
Tens of thousands of
our men and women are in Iraq and Afghanistan to combat the jihadi
threat. Army 1st Lt. Brian N. Bradshaw gave his life on June 25, the
same day Jackson died. Bradshaw's aunt, Martha Gillis, blasted the
silence over her nephew's sacrifice in a letter to her local paper, The
Washington Post:
"My nephew, Brian
Bradshaw, was killed by an explosive device in Afghanistan on June 25,
the same day that Michael Jackson died. … Where was the coverage of my
nephew or the other soldiers who died that week?" Gillis wrote that
Bradshaw "had old-fashioned values and believed that military service
was patriotic and that actions counted more than talk. … He was a
search-and-rescue volunteer, an altar boy, a camp counselor. He carried
the hopes and dreams of his parents willingly on his shoulders. What
more than that did Michael Jackson do or represent that earned him
memorial 'shrines,' while this soldier's death goes unheralded? It
makes me want to scream."
Please do not despair,
Mrs. Gillis. While the Rev. Al Sharpton screamed, "Thank you, Michael!
Thank you, Michael!" at the grotesque Staples Center memorial on
Tuesday, many of us whispered in prayer: Thank you, Justin. Thank you,
Aaron. Thank you, Brian. The real American heroes won't be forgotten."
My feelings better than I could ever express with words thanks to Michelle Malkin

Current mood: annoyed
Category: News and Politics
So, these two emo kids decide to flame one of our soldiers for putting a friendly video of him playing iraqi kids saying all we are basically the nazis of a new era. Even though they are like 16-17 kids who have never left their hometown or region. Yet they wish to push their views on this war that they have nothing to do with(by choice) and insult my fellow soldiers calling us baby killers and murders of innocent people. Stating that we are just basically the successors to nazism and pushing for an imperialist America(even though we haven't pushed for that since the spainish-american war). One kid went as far as calling himself a revolutionary. Emo two: "im a revolutionary fuck sittin back and watching this country go to hell in a handbasket." That is kind of funny last time I checked revolutionaries actually did something. Not "Sit back and watch". This basically this tell everyone two things about him. One: He's just looking for attention. Hence flaming over the net. I'm sure if he were to say that to any upstanding citizen he'd be shitting his own teeth(cause emo's can't fight) Two: he's just regergitating something he learned from history class and placing it into modern events and trying to look good. Then, he went on to insult me for not killing any one over here. "hmm if your in a "war" why havent you killed anybody?...oh yeah thats right your too busy carrying out the objectives of the wolfowitz doctrine" That's kinda funny I thought he stated we are just killers who want oil but, then why is he trying to insult me for not killing people? hmm. that goes back to my two points I made previous. One:attention Two: We see history class helping him again. Good Job. Emo one basically was just a kid trying to impress his boyfriend(Emo Two) Just giving links to biased anti-war web-pages. He isn't worth talking about. So, I've decided I'm going to tell everyone a little of what I was prepped to do prior to coming to this "battleground". To help civilians better understand what goes on. Note: this is my personal experience and I speak for myself. First off, during our training we go through many classes explaining this lands culture, what is offensive to their people, customs and courtesies and, even language. So, we are fully aware of how to treat and respect these people. Also, it's put out that 79% of iraqis hate us. Which isn't true. How did you find that out? Interaction. Which is more than almost any anti-war protestor can say. Just because a biased magizine states "79% hate americans" doesn't give it credibility. But, I suppose you could argue that my opinion is also biased but, atleast I have first hand experience. I talked to one iraqi man we now employ. When under the Saddam presidency, he was a bio-chemist who earned $10/month. Now employed under us makes $1000/month. Now, yes this isn't very much to you but, keep in mind this is a third world country. 1000 seems to beat the shit outta 10 anyday if you ask me. I hope this helps people understand a bit more. I'll end with this video of my buddy Tim. Something I doubt the news will show and I'm sure it'll help paint a picture on how the children look at us soldiers.

Current mood: aggravated
I've been doing a lot of thinking lately and I think I've been being too nice to people in general as of late. I've had a few shots to show people what I'm capable of. It's just I feel bad what I might do. Scared if you will. Not for me but, for the person dumb enough to test me. I mean I've actually let a few things go, that back in the day, I would never allow short of an ass beating. So, I suppose I need to go back to those ways because being this nice just isn't cutting it anymore. I've had my fill of being the bigger person and walking away. Now I'll just starting hurting people who are dumb enough to piss me off again.

I've been thinking abot volunteering to head over to Iraq/afganistan ASAP. I mean no matter what I will be going. Mind as well get it over with now I suppose. Plus, war is where the soldiers' make their money and, their medals. It's not set in stone yet. But, I'm seriously contemplating this.

I'm starting to really hate my life. I can't find any satisfaction with myself lately. I feel like there is more out there for me but, I'm stuck here doing nothing. I feel like a loser. I feel like a total moron for repeating the same mistake over 4 times. And still I feel like she still gets the best of me. Even when I know there is nothing I love about her anymore because, she has changed to everything I hated. Someone who is so self-absorbed that she only thinks of herself and, leaves me like I'm worthless; she doesn't want to waste time on me because, I may die within the next 6 years due to my choice profession. I see others who have nothing but faith in me. But, not the person who meant the world to me. I guess I just hate the fact of knowing the girl I loved turned out to be a typical girl. You lost everything special about you. Now all you are is a pretty girl who only has her looks to go off of now(which will fade with time). But, I guess it's better to find this out now than, to be miserable later. I don't know why but, I tried so hard to convince myself not to hate you. But, it doesn't make sense to forgive a person who wants nothing to do with you but, she wants no one to have you either. Just to be able to keep you until she experiences the fact that all other guys just wanted sex from her. You almost ruined something important to me. Love, you almost made me believe that it doesn't exist but, I won't believe that. There is some one out there for me who will treat me just as I did you. Who loves me just as strong as I did you. You will no longer be a plague to my mind. just remanent feelings of a girl who was almost special to me. That's the end with you. I feel way better.

Two sides twist and then collide; You're calling off the guards (Am I coming?) I'm coming through. (Am I coming?) Adulterous conditioned to a spin cycled submission, You know, sometimes it just feels better to give in. (Sometimes, it just feels better to give in.)
And it's all too familiar And it happens all the time. All the cards begin to stack up, Twisting heartache into fine Little pieces that avoid an awful crime, But it's you I can't deny. (You I can't deny.)
Dull heat rises from the sheets. I'm both a patient boy, Well, and a jealous man. (Am I coming?) My double standardized suspicion Is remedied, oh, my blue heaven, Sometimes, it just feels better to give in. (Sometimes, it just feels better to give in.)
And it's all too familiar And it happens all the time. All the cards begin to stack up, Twisting heartache into fine Little pieces that avoid an awful crime, But it's you I can't deny. (You I can't deny.)
We swing and we sway As this tiny voice in My head starts to sing You're safe, child, you are safe. (You're safe, child, you are safe.) You're safe, child, you are safe.
We swing and we sway As this tiny voice in My head starts to sing You're safe, child, you are safe. You're safe, child, you are ..
safe (safe), safe (safe), You are safe.
We swing and we sway As this tiny voice in My head starts to sing You're safe, child, you are safe. (Am I coming?) You're safe, child, you are safe. (Am I --) Coming through?
Is this all too familiar? Does it happen all the time? I'm just asking you to hear me. Could you please, just once, just hear me? More then anything you wanted to be right. Still it's you, you, it's you I can't deny. (You I can't deny.) It's you I can't deny.
