........still looking for that elusive mando ripper.  We've had a number of great musicians express interest and try out for the spot, but we haven't found that one person just yet.  That being said any help from ya'll in putting the word out would be great.  In the meantime we've settled into being a 4 piece quite nicely and continue to re-arrange some of the tunes to work w/o the mandolin.  It's forcing us to get a little more creative.  It's always good to be challenged because that's how we grow. 

Thanks to everyone who's been out to the last few shows.  We've got a lot more lining up so be sure to check out the schedule.

Hey folks....we really aren’t very good at keeping this thing up to speed with our progress.  I’ll try to make it a personal goal of updating it at least every other week.  Here’s what’s going on.

1) we’ve got 10 shows booked for "Underneath" through July....it’s exciting that our little place is generating so much interest these days.

2) we’ve been working on our replacement for Chris and his Mando work and we think that you will all be pleased with the direction we are going in.  It’s going to be great, just give us some time and you’ll see.

3) Come celebrate Little 5 Points best music venue’s 5th Anniversary with us.  The 5 - Spot is turning 5 in Little 5.  That’s a lot of 5’s.  We’ll be starting the evening off and our friends Newberry Jam will be bringing the funk until the early morning hours.  It’s going to be a serious party.  Cover will be $10, but you can reserve some tix for $8 through our website right now.

Chris is taking a real job with his new PhD under his belt.  Unfortunately for us it's in Washington D.C.  Therefore, we are looking for a new member of Vortex Park.  We've had a few mandy pickers out over the past few weeks, but really want to explore all options before bringing someone into the fold.  If any of you out there in reader land have any ideas for us, please drop us a line.

Most of you who are keeping tabs on us know that we have opened up our own performance space and have been performing live shows every other Saturday night.  Well........ we're proud to annouce that we have 9 tracks from our Premiere show for sale in the store section of our website.  It's the first set of recordings that we have released with our current lineup of members.  Check it out!  You can take a listen to a few tracks on our music page to get a taste.

For those of you not quite as connected as others, we're going to have a few cd's made up and available for sale at our shows as well. 

So.....it's been a long time since we've updated this.  I promise we'll be better.  Last entry in July we were headed into the studio....well we were, but then our priorities changed and what's the result you ask?  We now have our own performance space 'The Vortex Park Room' where we'll be playing every other Saturday night.  I can't think of a better place to see acoustic music than the "living room" atmosphere we have created here.  Check out our website for show dates and more details on getting tickets.  The first show is December 22nd.  Tickets are going fast so get yours (paypal through our website).  Hope to see you out soon.

Just a quick update for everyone.  We haven't booked any shows again just yet because we are going to begin recording next week.  We'll keep you posted on the progress.  Look for us to emerge late August around town.

Thanks to all that came out to last night's show at the Earl in East Atlanta.  We played the middle spot between local acts Jondonson and the Cassavetes and had a blast.  Special thanks to the Earl for having us and to Jason on the soundboard for doing a great job with just a line-check.
