Maninblack is searching for a new drummer!

This is our priority right now, we need to fill the drummer position immediately.

Candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:

*Over 30 years old

*An avid Punk music fan

*NYC area resident

*Have professional quality equipment

*No other band commitments

Ideally we would like someone who is at least 40 years old, has been a past member of one or more recognized Punk bands, lives in Manhattan, and currently uses electronic percussion such as Roland V-drums or the equivalent, someone with a bit of grey in their hair and a chip on their shoulder, but this is negotiable.

You should be able to devote two days a week to regular rehearsals (usually three hours during the evening and be prepared to play live locally at least twice a month. Audio recording and other projects are also pending.

Maninblack is looking for a bandmate who will ultimately become a buisiness partner in our venture.

We absolutely refuse to employ hired musicians.

If you are interested (or know someone who might be) contact André Schlesinger.

Be prepared to submit personal information as to the above requirements along with a recent photograph and one or two MP3s of relevant music which includes your performance.

*This page will remain posted until the position is filled.

Our very own mouthpiece André Schlesinger has been honored with the inclusion of the following paragraph/quote, from the book Burning Britain: The History of UK Punk 1980-1984 by Ian Glasper, in Wikipedia's page on Oi! music
In the words of André Schlesinger, “Oi shares many similarities with folk music, besides its often simple musical structure; quaint in some respects and crude in others, not to mention brutally honest, it usually tells a story based in truth.”
Maninblack would like to thank the editors of Wikipedia, author Ian Glasper, and our management agency Knock-Out Entertainment for this validating recognition.

You can hear Maninblack vocalist/songwriter André Schlesinger collaborating on a couple of tracks with the experimental Punk project out of Bristol UK known as RedSquare. Andre plays a very Paul McCartney-esque bass synthesizer and lends vocoder backing vocals to the song Skinhead World. On the song Lev Bronstien, which was released on Reds Strike The Blues: A Tribute To The Redskins, André sings lead vocals and plays digitally treated guitar. To listen to these tracks go to RedSquare @ MySpace.

Maninblack gets fingered by the Far Right for all the wrong reasons:

Final Conflict on Maninblack's involvement with the 4 Skins tribute CD:

Note: MySpace seems to currently have a problem with off site linking, best viewed in IE browser.

OK, well those idiots totally overlooked the fact that André is a Red and, as someone recently pointed out, was a member of the original NYC SHARP crew back in the 1980s. And that's not to mention a few of the other people involved in the project.

Maninblack Opens The Books - Now Accepting And Scheduling Engagements

New York, NY USA - April 1, 2007- Maninblack is now officially accepting performance bookings beginning April 30th/May 1st and beyond. Maninblack will debut during two back to back performances on 4/30/07 and 5/1/07 and plans to follow up with numerous local and regional shows throughout the Spring and Summer of 2007. If you are a club owner, manager or booking agent and are interested in having Maninblack perform at your venue or event, please contact us. Additional contact information including telephone number, hard copy and electronic press kits, and music samples are available upon request.

Maninblack is a band based in New York City performing original Punk music blended with UK Punk and Pop Reggae styles, a modern electronic edge and a subtly dark Cyberpunk image. Maninblack's personnel lineup includes André Schlesinger on lead vocals, guitar/synthesizer and keyboards; RJ Demler on bass guitar and backing vocals; and Brian Blainey on drums and electronic percussion. Initially established in 2001 as an experimental project Maninblack has, along with a few misfired debut attempts, released tracks on various compilations and tribute albums. Maninblack is represented locally by André Schlesinger in Manhattan and internationally by Garry Bushell Enterprises, LTD. London: http://www.garry-bushell.co.uk

Maturity and reliability are important aspects of Maninblack as performing artists and they pride themselves on their professionalism. The band is supportive of publicity efforts and takes a concerted interest in the promotion of individual performances. Maninblack offers an exciting musical and visual experience that is reminiscent of the UK Punk phenomena of 1977, yet innovative and unconventional even by current Punk standards, in their unique style which they view as a logical evolution of the Punk music genre.

What related and established artists are saying about Maninblack:

"The new face of Street-Punk" - Stinky Turner, The Cockney Rejects

"Oi meets The Stooges in Pop's back garden" -Clyde Ward, The Gonads

   "Un-fucken-believeable!" -Beki Bondage, Vice Squad

"My favourite US band since the New York Dolls" -Garry Johnson, Punk poet and author

For more information see Maninblack: The Official Online Press Kit! at www.maninblack.org or contact André Schlesinger at maninblack@nyc.rr.com. An encapsulated version of the official web site can be seen on Maninblack's MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/maninblack
