Recently, a friend of mine got upset with me.  Now, it wasn't some big blowup or argument we had.  Just some grouchiness on my part.

In this situation, I've noticed something about women.  Or some women.  We don't say anything when we are upset.  We pout or become distant and we expect the other person to just KNOW what is wrong.

The next day I apologized to this friend because I could sense she was irritated, although I wasn't sure if this was because of me or because it was raining that day or what.  I thought I did the right thing.  She said she was mad and accepted the apology.  Still no clue what was going on.

I thought, "Now I know how men feel."  And I vowed to try to be clear about my feelings, even when it's hard to express them.

Anyway, at this point, I need some time to reflect, which she is not understanding.  Again, this is a woman thing.  Why must we talk everything to death?  Many verses I'm reading in the Bible lately are about limiting your speech and not being quick to speak.  So, I am trying to take this to heart.

Good luck, men.  I'm sympathizing for ya this week.

The Happy Top Five

1.  I get to leave work an hour early today.

2.  A new book awaits me when I get to my apartment.

3.  I am running in a new place tomorrow.

4.  It's a three-day weekend (why is it called Labor day when most people aren't laboring?).

5.  Thankful for songwriters who write songs that describe just how I feel and make me realize that I'm not the only person on the planet who feels that way.   (Thank you, Caedmon's Call.)

A Bonus:  My hair has just the right amount of curl today. (Thank you, hair care products.)

I don't understand:

Why don't women remember that men can't read their minds?

And why is it so hard to tell your guy how you feel?

Why does it seem to get hotter every summer in Arkansas?

Why don't people understand how important communication is?

Why don't guys understand the effect they have on their girlfriends; do they not know or do they just not care?

Why can't a guy and a girl who are dating just be honest with each other and quit the guessing games?

Why is it that some nights, I can't stop worrying about stuff and some nights I fall asleep with a smile on my face?

Is this true?

Extroverted, Type B Personalities:  People everyone likes because they are fun-loving, laid back people.  Entertainers.

Extroverted, Type A Personalities:  People who rule the world, presidents, kings, astronauts, etc.

Introverted, Type B Personalties:  People who are quiet, peaceful, and contemplative.  The world's thinkers and philosophers.

Introverted, Type A Personalities:  People who are more reserved, like to spend time alone and stew in the world's problems.   Who are these people??

I think I'm in the fourth group, but I don't want to be. Now to change...and to which group?  Or can a person change?

So I went to the doctor today and my blood pressure is 170/110!  The doctor said she was afraid I was going to have a stroke or something right there in the office.  Apparently this is unusually high; the nurse took it once, looked at me strangely, and then took it again.

I don't understand this.  I told her how much I exercised and I don't think I eat too terribly bad.  She said it was probably genetic and partly because of stress.  Then she told me I needed to reduce my stress level.  I don't understand what a person is supposed to do when a doctor says this.  It's not like I can quit my job or anything.  If I could change something to reduce the stress, I would've done it by now.

I'm supposed to go back in next week to check.  Hopefully I get something like 120/80…

I can't believe I haven't posted about my newest accomplishment!

I've run two 5Ks in the past month.  I ran the second one two minutes faster than the first.  Running is a great hobby for me.  It burns calories, it gets out some aggression, I can listen to music while doing it, and I can buy new shoes every three to six months.   I like it because I can constantly set new goals for myself (unlike my job where I feel like what I do doesn't matter most of the time--but that's for another blog!).

So, good for me!

Good news:  my friend Misty had a new baby girl today.

Her name is Liza and I am so excited to meet her.  And I'm wondering what her 3-year old brother Eli will think of her.

Did Manchester United lose the title today?

Watching Manchester United today against Middlesboro, I was wondering why Sir Alex did not take off Rio Ferdinand when he was clearly hurting and not up to form.  This was right before half time.  Manchester United is winning by a goal, Rio needs to come off and is not defending as well and then Viduka scored for 'Boro.

So, the game ends 1-1 (after Rooney almost scoring at least 3 times by the way) and now Chelsea is 3 points away on the table and after tomorrow, probably one point away.

This is making me nervous...
