He was sitting on a park bench, hunched and looking low It was hard to imagine how he'd looked, so long ago. His beard was long and shaggy now; his sparse hair white as snow But his steel gray eyes were piercing, and I turned away to go.
He looked lonely and forgotten, and maybe homeless too Like life had dealt him a bad hand, maybe quite a few He was probably abandoned by those who didn't care I wondered what had happened, what drove him to despair.
He said, "Son, I'm a Leatherneck, of wars before your time" His eyes grew still more piercing as he looked deep into mine "Your uniform says you're a Devil Dog, the man I've waited for And there's something I want to tell you -- things I've never said before."
The tattoos on his weathered arm read "Mom" and "Semper Fi" "Let's sing our hymn together, son, once more before I die." As we sang of Montezuma's halls and the shores of Tripoli, The old man stood straight and tall, and he looked down at me.
"Bury me at Arlington; put an EGA upon my chest. Tell all the world I died for them, that I was one of the best. I was with the Fifth on Iwo, and I fought in Korea too. During that ugly war in Vietnam, I stood proud, and cheered for you.
"Get me a straight edge razor, lad, and give me a good, clean shave. I want to look my very best as I go to my grave Cut my hair; shine my boots; let me borrow your best blues. You have them back after I'm gone, and all my medals too.
"I don't want no flowers, an American flag will do My life was lived and given for the Red and White and Blue. Whisper 'Semper Fi' my boy, so loud that all will hear Fire them rifles in the air; they're music to my ear."
As he told me his last wishes, I saw him standing tall I could see the ribbons on his chest, in the dim light of the Mall And as he closed his steel gray eyes, I thought about the Corps He'd lived the life of a real Marine, who could ask for anything more?
"Whisper 'Semper Fi,' my lad," his voice lingered in my mind I thought about all my buddies, those I'd left behind Today, I'd met a real Marine, a hero through and through Forgotten by his country, but not by me and you.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: Jesus Christ and the American G. I. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom. PASS THIS ON! MANY SEEM TO FORGET BOTH OF THEM!! SEMPER FI

Marines come in all shapes, shades, weights, sizes, and states of sobriety, misery, and confusion. He is sly as a fox, has the nerve of a dope addict, the stories of an old sailor, the sincerity of a politician, and the subtly of Mt. Saint Helen. He is extremely irresistible, totally irrational and completely indestructible.
A Marine is a Marine all his life. He is a magical creature. You can kick him out of your house but not out of your heart. You can take him off your mailing list but not off your mind. Marines are found everywhere... in love...in battle... in lust... in trouble...in debt...in bars and ... behind them. No one can write so seldom and yet think so much of you. No one else can get so much enjoyment out of a letter or clean clothes or a six pack.
A Marine is a genius with a deck of cards. A millionaire without a cent and brave without a grain of sense. He is the PROTECTOR OF AMERICA, with the latest copy of playboy in his back pocket. When he wants something it's usually 30 days leave, music that hurts the ears, a five dollar bill...or a woman he can count on.
Girls love them, mothers tolerate them, fathers brag about them, the government pays them, the police watch out for them and somehow they all work together. You can beat their bodies but not their minds.
You can tame their hearts but not their souls. He likes girls, females, women, ladies, and the opposite sex. He dislikes small checks, working weekends, answering letters, eating chow, waking up, maintaining a uniform, and the day before payday. You may as well give in. He is your long distance lover...he is your steel eyed, warm smiling, blank minded, hyperactive, over reacting, curious, passive, talented spontaneous, physically fit, good for nothing bundle of worry.....

By Rush Limbaugh:
I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty and those who die serving our country in Uniform are profound. No one is really talking about it either, because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11. Well, I can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11 attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million.
If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.
Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.
Keep in mind that some of the people who are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough. Their deaths were tragic, but for most, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Soldiers put themselves in harms way FOR ALL OF US, and they and their families know the dangers.
We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11 families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well.
You see where this is going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over 50 years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad. Every time a pay raise comes up for the military, they usually receive next to nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle Eastwhile their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low-rent housing. Make sense?
However, our own Congress voted themselves a raise. Many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month. And most are now equal to being millionaires plus. They do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7, they may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed them in harm's way receives a pension of $15,000 per month.
I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting. "When do we finally do something about this?" If this doesn't seem fair to you, it is time to forward this to as many people as you can.

Read this in a bulletin, thought it was the truest thing i have ever heard. I am not a skin head, KKK member or anything to that nature, just beleave this is the truest thing i have heard in a long time. Whoe ever wrote this, your the best.
You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction.
You call me "Cracker", "Honkey", "Whitey" and you think it's OK.
But when I call you, nigger, Kike, Towelhead, Sand-nigger, Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, or Chink you call me a racist.
You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live
You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day. You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day. You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi You have the NAACP. You have BET.
If we had WET(white entertainment television) we'd be racists.
If we had a White Pride Day you would call us racists.
If we had white history month, we'd be racists.
If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives, we'd be racists.
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we'd be racists.
In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.
You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug-dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.
I am white. I am proud.
But, you call me a racist.
Why is it that only whites can be racists?
Repost if you agree
*Now watch, I'll be a racist for posting this*

You know as i sit here board out of my mind i descided to type one of these things up, cause i relized how sad it is to have friends, and then before you know it thier gone, gone for good. They will say "hi" every now and again, but you know you wont ever have the same "thing" you did with them once before. I see some off my friends on here i have had all the way through highschool, they went to college, or other places, or i left them. Then i have some friends that i met since i have been in the service, and we left each other. We had other things we had to do. I miss them all, wish everyday it was like it used to be but i know, just like everyone else it will NEVER be the same again. Ever. If there is one thing i learned and stand by for the rest of my life is that "friends come and go, but your memorys of them and your friendship you had will ALWAYS stay the same...." This is for everyone who i was once with....
