Awake. Arise. Breathe. Live. Love. Become
Briertone is not dead. In fact, we're alive for the first time.
A VISION. A RECORD
We have been given a vision and a calling. We have a message. We're making a full length record. A record that screams truth and love, a record that pleads for awakening. A melody that breathes life into dry bones. we desire take hold of the great gift of your open ears, and plant a seed, to bless and to serve those who will listen. after months and months of writing and preparation, prayer and thought, we have begun the process of our first full length record.
since the bands start, we've been writing, recording, and performing a dark heavy southern rock. while all along we've been writing country and roots songs in major keys. because the band has always had this presentation of hellfire and brimstone, we've kept briertone's alt country/ roots songs hidden away in our efforts to not conflict with the vibe of the live show. within the past year, we've slowly began to filter in some of these feel good country songs. songs like "gypsy girl" and "st. mary sunshine." all of our songs, in keys major and minor have so much to say. we've grown very accustomed to being ourselves, to be real with ourselves and with our fans. to not only write what is on our hearts, but to perform what is on our hearts. as a band, we have so much to say. this album is pouring out of us.
we have not yet come up with a title for the record.
THE ROYAL THEATER
we're making the record at an old antique theater called The Royal. It's in a secluded little town on the california coast. in this old building, we found the perfect setting to record our rustic country songs. The tracking is done on the stage and engineering takes place up where the projector used to be. the building carries an amazing sound with a tall hollow wooden stage, perfect for recording the stomping rhythm tracks.
THE FAMILY
in hometown san luis obispo we've always been blessed to be surrounded by a tight knit community of musicians. we're bringing the family in one this record. it will be rich with instrumentation and vocals. it will be our first briertone album that features stand up bass, pedal steel, dobro, fiddle, cello, didgeridoo, harmonica, rhodes; alongside our usual drums, bass, guitar, banjo, and mandolin. the record is something that we will all be proud of.
RELEASE AND TOURING
we estimate the record release to be in winter 2008 and to tour the record in winter and spring. we'll do the main release in downtown san luis obispo. we won't do any extensive touring until then. though we do plan to do multiple CA dates and a small run through a few western states this upcoming fall.
be blessed dear friends.
we will keep you posted.
