Hey all!

SHOW
We're performing in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday, June 25th at Linnaea's Cafe. The show is entirely free. But we do recommend a cup of coffee because it's great. We will be performing several songs from our unreleased album as well as some old ones. The band Lost Ocean will open this show at 8pm. Great music, great coffee, great atmosphere. Bring your friends. (across the street from downtown brew)

PHOTOS
We're blessed and honored to be photographed by Joshua Caine and featured on his blog. There you'll find new pictures that will be used for the insert of our new album. It's awesome to have the opportunity to work with people who stand behind our band's vision and help to further it. We are really grateful for Joshua Caine. View the briertone feature by clicking on his blog and visit his homepage by clicking site to see more work by Joshua Caine Photography.

ALBUM ARTWORK
We're also excited to announce that artist Cris Cleen from Spider Murphy's Tattoo is doing artwork for the album insert. We've always had a connection with Cris Cleen's art. It seems to go hand in hand with our music. Cris Cleen created shirt designs for briertone in the past. The most common design - the boy riding the crow - was created by Cris. The image below is current art of his. It gives an idea of the style of the new album art.

UPDATE
Progress on the album is far along. Still working hard. We're working on vocals as well as finishing up last bits of instrumentation. Cannot wait!

Lastly, check out a home video recorded on the stage at our studio. The song is called flaming arrows.

New Video Clip on the Myspace. A rough cut of the song 'I am Jacob'

Our studio engineer was unable to record us today because he had a bad toothache which lead to an emergency dental appointment. We spent the majority of our day playing and writing music on the stage at the royal theater. Just for fun we decided to record video clips of a couple songs on Brandon's computer.

The song 'I am Jacob' is a song that we've been working on for some time now. This song is really a peer far into the future, as it is not even on our upcoming record. We are several songs deep into the record that will follow the record that is yet to be released... if that makes any sense.

We want to share with you in our writing, and in our direction as band. We'll probably post another one of these before our record release. Take care dear brothers and sisters.

Brothers & Sisters.

We want to share with you what's going on in our world. We know things are looking very slow on our end. We owe it to you to let you know what is going on. The past months have been devoted to writing and creating an album that sums up and defines our vision, our goal, and ultimately our purpose as a band.

NEW RECORD

There's a new direction for Briertone and our new record. It is mostly acoustic folk and alt-country. But there are still a few songs that really resemble the heavy minor key sound that Briertone has always had.

All shows and tours have been placed on hold for the completion of this project. It has taken longer than we projected but we're more concerned about it being done right, than it being done....sooner. We've always prayed that the record would be used to knock on the hearts of it's listeners, to speak love and truth into people's lives. We will give it the time that it needs.

The album is very far along however. And we've never had opportunity to record with such great instrumentation. In addition to the usual our usual instruments, friends of ours have tracked cellos, violins, accordian, dobro, didjeridu, and the list goes on. This album is sort of a community effort really. It's coming along so well and we're really excited to get it you all.

We expect to finish the album this summer. We'll tour it when it's finished and pressed.

NEW SONGS

The song 'may it be a sweet sound' that we've just posted on our myspace is a rough cut version. it's incomplete, unmixed and unmastered. the song will be very different when we release it. but we wanted to give you an idea of some of the direction of the album. We've also added the song 'mountain top' also unmixed and unmastered. We still need to add banjo, upright bass, and new vocals to this song. We thought it might be cool to show you some progress though.

Also, if you go to myspace.com/mayitbeasweetsound you'll find a few of our new songs in their earliest stages. These versions were recorded on garage band, just so we wouldn't forget how they go. All the songs on the mayitbeasweetsound myspace are being re-recorded in the studio and will be on the new album.

ACOUSTIC SHOW IN SAN LUIS OBISPO We have booked an acoustic show at Linnaea's in downtown San Luis Obispo to introduce some of the songs off of the new record. It's across the street from Downtown Brew. The show will be at 8PM on Wednesday, June 25. And it's free!

Thank you so much for your patience. Please send us a message if you have any questions. Be blessed dear friends.

Current mood:  calm
So the tour with Lost Ocean was amazing. Thank you so much to everyone who came out. We had such a blast. It was pretty short and we were all sad to have to go back home. Were playing in Pismo @ the vertex with them next Sunday. So everyone from home needs to come hang out!

We will be playing a few shows here and there for the months of November and December. We will slowly but surely finishing up the album in the next month or two. We dont have a release date as of yet, becuase there is so much that is needed to be done before we can get it to you guys. As soon as we have a specific time we will let you know.

There is talks of a possible short tour at the beginning of January, and then we will be doing a CD release tour Spring 08. We will have the new album and tons of other new exciting stuff. We are so excited!

We will defianntly be posting some video footage and pictures from the studio as they come.

Thanks again to everyone who came out to the shows. We love you all so much. And those that coulnt make it, we will be there soon. We can't stress it enough how much everyone of you means to us. We thank you for all the support and love you give.

Awake. Arise. Breathe. Live. Love. Become
Briertone is not dead. In fact, we're alive for the first time.

A VISION. A RECORD
We have been given a vision and a calling. We have a message. We're making a full length record. A record that screams truth and love, a record that pleads for awakening. A melody that breathes life into dry bones. we desire take hold of the great gift of your open ears, and plant a seed, to bless and to serve those who will listen. after months and months of writing and preparation, prayer and thought, we have begun the process of our first full length record.

since the bands start, we've been writing, recording, and performing a dark heavy southern rock. while all along we've been writing country and roots songs in major keys. because the band has always had this presentation of hellfire and brimstone, we've kept briertone's alt country/ roots songs hidden away in our efforts to not conflict with the vibe of the live show. within the past year, we've slowly began to filter in some of these feel good country songs. songs like "gypsy girl" and "st. mary sunshine." all of our songs, in keys major and minor have so much to say. we've grown very accustomed to being ourselves, to be real with ourselves and with our fans. to not only write what is on our hearts, but to perform what is on our hearts. as a band, we have so much to say. this album is pouring out of us.
we have not yet come up with a title for the record.

THE ROYAL THEATER
we're making the record at an old antique theater called The Royal. It's in a secluded little town on the california coast. in this old building, we found the perfect setting to record our rustic country songs. The tracking is done on the stage and engineering takes place up where the projector used to be. the building carries an amazing sound with a tall hollow wooden stage, perfect for recording the stomping rhythm tracks.

THE FAMILY
in hometown san luis obispo we've always been blessed to be surrounded by a tight knit community of musicians. we're bringing the family in one this record. it will be rich with instrumentation and vocals. it will be our first briertone album that features stand up bass, pedal steel, dobro, fiddle, cello, didgeridoo, harmonica, rhodes; alongside our usual drums, bass, guitar, banjo, and mandolin. the record is something that we will all be proud of.

RELEASE AND TOURING
we estimate the record release to be in winter 2008 and to tour the record in winter and spring. we'll do the main release in downtown san luis obispo. we won't do any extensive touring until then. though we do plan to do multiple CA dates and a small run through a few western states this upcoming fall.

be blessed dear friends.
we will keep you posted.

Soooo Its been a few days since the last update. But things have been going awesome! We are in the beautiful Las Vegas NV today. The weather is amazing! Were staying at Matts Uncles house which is way sweet!

So the day I posted the last updated we just hung out in Roseville all day. Becky and Julie offered us to play an acoustic show with them at a coffee shop in Sacramento. It was loads of fun

From Roseville we headed to Reno NV and then to Salt Lake City UT. The drive was pretty gnarly, it seriously seemed like it never ended. On our way we stopped at a pretty sweet firworks stand. I mean they had things like this on display:

totally normal

So we finally arrived in Salt Lake and were greeted by our dear friend Amanda. We all want to say thank you so much to her and Cheri for letting us crash on their floor for three nights. It was a huge blessing. We played Kilby Court in Salt Lake and Velour in Provo UT. Both shows were freakin awesome! Oh and zeb from Sparrows Gate is on tour with us so we all get the pleasure of listening to him every night.

Right when we got to Salt lake we had a pretty sweet snow ball fight. I was able to catch a shot of the action

If you ever go to Salt Lake you need to go downtown to One World Cafe. The people there are amazing. You can do various tasks for free meals. The whole place is ran off donations and the food is so good! So we played acoustic for a half an hour and all got to eat. They bless so many people each day with meals, its wonderful.

We are currently in Roseville CA takeing it easy on our day off. The tour has been awesome so far. We played fresno on tuesday and it was such an awesome time. We love seeing you guys so much! Roseville was amazing and so was last nights show. We are out with Great Glass Elevator and its a huge blessing to have those dudes along. So we ended up raising some money from our fundraiser shows and the Lord totally provided us a van! Thank you so much to all that donated, came to the shows, or kept us in your prayers. We appraciate it so much! Here is a picture of it:

We installed some bunks and tinted the windows, its so good to go! Yesterday we had some time off before we had to head to our show, so we cruised to downtown San Francisco. Might I add that is not a fun experience leaving that town. Its almost like they make it more confusing so you get lost and decide to stay and spend more money.

After driving in a huge circle numerous times we finally made it to the 101 north. We cruised over the Golden Gate bridge which was pretty sweet. You have to pay them a small piece of Gold to cross, and a little green lepricon collects it from you. So strange.

So after the show, amazing pizza, and blowing up a wine bottle, we drove back to Roseville to pick up our shirts. Our dear friends becky who works at starbucks, and jewels were ever so kinda. They provided us with delicious bagels and coffee. They pretty much rule the most pit. We will be here tonight and head to Salt Lake tomorrow.

Oh in case you didnt know scooters are just plain sexy, i mean you dont even have to try, it just comes natural.
