this is just a short personal email --recently I was selected as one of 27 winners for www.fredflare.com's 'NEXT BIG THING' design competition of 2008. They are a great online store located in Brooklyn, NY that specialize in selling cute, kitschy fun products, and the design they chose from me to sell directly through their store are a pair of earrings.

Throughout the month of June, each of the 27 winners was featured in their personal blog along with a short interview. Today marks the last day of all to be featured, and they have now opened up voting for the official 'final winner' of the 27. The grand prize is $1000 for the best designer of them all, and voting is now open to the public.

So in a nutshell, please please please VOTE FOR ME and I will love you forever!!!! You'll see a dropdown screen with all names of people featured...(select KOMODOKAT to cast your vote for me.)

Based in Brooklyn, NY., Fredflare has been an online seller of tons of amazingly cute and kitschy, independent stuff for years and has had major exposure and online-traffic. In my opinion, they are one of the leading companies that has specialized in offering super unique and adorable items from designers all over the world, and the fact that they support up and coming artists has been rad. THE NEXT BIG THING contest has run for the past 5 years and winners have included Jay McCarroll (project runway winner) as well as celebrity Amy Sedaris (recently appeared in Sex and the City as well as Dolly Parton's new video, published books, and more). I'm beside myself with amazement and I can only say that they are freakin' awesome. 27 finalists have been selected out of more than 1000 entries and each winner will have their item entry available for sale through Fredflare.com. Each finalist will be showcased in the Fredflare blog –one for every day for the rest of June.

I'm not sure at this point when I will be featured, but I will keep you posted! Lastly, there will be a final call for votes from the public for the best designer out of the 27 winners…the one with the most votes wins an additional $1000 DOLLARS….so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE WITH SUGAR ON TOP, VOTE FOR ME ON JULY 2, 2008!!!!!!

Introducing KOMODOKOUTURE...

A new section is in the works at Komodokat. 'KomodoKouture' will be featuring all my one-off, super unique and super rare items. There will be a variety of designs from higher-end jewelry, mixed media works, and more complex art pieces and projects that will house my *deeper* creative side, like this customized necklace which has been loaded with over 30 charms (all handmade and painstakingly handpainted --I literally spent hours attaching each charm to a delicate chain and customizing certain ones to suit my weird personality --ha!); some of which are unavailable in my shop and *only* available in what you see here.



Different packaging and labeling will compliment these items and each piece will stand as an individualistic work of art --not available for wholesale, and totally one of a kind. Get ready for some darker items as well, including Elegant Gothic Lolita styled designs, shadowbox art and jewelry which will be incorporating drawings and paintings I have created from the past to the present...
