The Federations You Can Play

Note for NEW PLAYERS: While Champions of the Galaxy has expanded in recent years to include new feds like the CPC/POW and aCe, keep in mind that the flagship fed is the GWF. Everything in Champions of the Galaxy has emerged from the GWF's glorious history. A newcomer should start with a GWF fed...either the ORIGINAL Champions of the Galaxy Box Set (year 2087) or the NEW BEGINNING Champions of the Galaxy Box Set (year 2119) and then consider some other feds once you're hooked!

Filsinger Games offers several different federations you can run. Many loyal players run several federations simultaneously, including creator Tom Filsinger who runs a GWF: ORIGINAL fed and an aCe fed. He also runs a Legends of Wrestling fed.

Half the fun is giving your feds their own identities. For example, a GWF fed will be focused on team conflicts and character-driven feuds while a CPC/POW fed might be more focused on behind-the-scenes politics with MMA style fighting. On the other hand, an aCe fed will lean towards more sci-fi and horror themes with hardcore match stipulations. No two feds are alike! Here's your chance to put YOUR stamp on each federation!

Here is a summary of feds you can run:

• GWF: ORIGINAL - GWF is short for Galactic Wrestling Federation. The classic first edition of Champions of the GalaxyChampions of the Galaxy fed with this game edition and then purchased the follow-up editions to keep their feds going. The action in the first edition takes place in GWF-year 2087. While many game players are caught up through the latest game year, there are also new players or players "going at their own pace" that are somewhere between 2088 and the latest edition. To begin a GWF: ORIGINAL federation, go to the shop and purchase was originally released in 1986. Most game players began their the ORIGINAL: Champions of the Galaxy Intro Box Set or the GWF Original TOTAL PACKAGE through COTGonline.
  
  
• GWF: NEW BEGINNING- Filsinger Games released a new jumping-on point for Champions of the Galaxy that begins in GWF-year 2119. This allows newcomers to begin playing pretty much in the current GWF year without a lot of catching up. Most regular players began playing a GWF: ORIGINAL federation and are continuing through 2119 uninterupted. To begin a GWF: NEW BEGINNING federation, go to the shop and purchase the NEW BEGINNING: Champions of the Galaxy Intro Box Set or the GWF New Beginning TOTAL PACKAGE through COTGonline.
  
  
• CPC/POW - The CPC/POW federation began as an outgrowth of a team war between the GWF and CPC that took place in 2105-2108. The result of that war was that the CPC broke away from the GWF and a new wrestling federation was born. The first independent CPC game edition, CPC Classics 2109 was popular with game fans and regular editions have followed ever since. Now the CPC has transformed into the POW. The POW federation has brought elements of MMA (mixed martial arts) to the Champions of the Galaxy!  Beginning players should purchase a CPC/POW Complete Throwdown! PDF. This is available as a download through COTGonline. 

• aCe - Like the CPC/POW, the aCe federation is a GWF spin-off. The aCe federation was formed in 2119 in the Centra star system. The Centra storyline began in The End 2110. The first independent Centra edition, called aCe 2119: Battle for Centra, was released in GWF-year 2119 when all the Centra wrestlers were banned from the GWF. The 'Battle for Centra' acted as a trilogy and featured heavier sci-fi/horror themes and experimental card stats. Recently, a jump-on point for new players was created called aCe:all-Centra entertainment. Beginning players should purchase an aCe: all-Centra entertainment TOTAL PACKAGE available exclusively through COTGonline.
  
  
• GWF: CLASSICS - Several game players regularly play a GWF fed that takes place in the "Golden Age" prior to the original game edition in 2087. This is usually referred to as a CLASSICS fed and is played using wrestlers from five CLASSICS game editions, beginning with Classics 2074. These editions recount the early days of the GWF. There isn't a CLASSICS (early GWF) box set. Beginning players should purchase a Champions of the Galaxy Intro Box Set (either ORIGINAL or NEW BEGINNING) and play a GWF fed, perhaps adding a CLASSICS fed once you become familiar with the game.
  
  
• LEGENDS OF WRESTLING FEDERATION (LWF) - Let's not forget that you can play a fed for the glorious past of wrestling using the Legends of Wrestling Intro Box Set featuring real-life wrestling superstars! While the Champions of the Galaxy federations (GWF, CPC, aCe) are linked to each other in terms of fictional continuity, there is no connection between Champions of the Galaxy and the LWF other than the fact that they utilize the same Filsinger Games playing system. • INDY FEDS - Finally, game players have been creative and put together their own wrestling federations which may be a mix of their own homemade characters, characters they trade with others, and wrestlers from the GWF, CPC, aCe, LWF, etc., that they combine in a new federation! The sky...no, the galaxy's the limit!
