The Missing Tapes have a new song included on the Turn 3 Compliation just realeased by the fine fine folks at Almost There Records.

The new song "Smell of Something New" will appear on the myspace page sooner or later.

We will also be performing a short set at the CD release show at Stubb's on Saturday, September 1. Lots of other great bands are playing as well including Grand Champeen, Fivehead, Youngman Grand, Mandible, and One Mississippi.

Since Toby is being all scholarly and stuff in Corpus Christi, we unfortunately aren't really active these days, so this is a rare treat for us.

If any of you tried to go see us at the Scoot Inn and were dismayed as we were that it was closed and the show was cancelled, we're sorry that you wasted your time and effort.

We got a call about an hour before we were heading down there and were told that the TABC had revoked their liquor license earlier in the afternoon and since that is their sole source of revenue, they decided to call it a night.

Hopefully we'll be able to reschedule something with the Fall Collection in the near future and if you are really itching to see us, you'll have two opportunities this afternoon.

Have a great week and thanks for dropping by.

Ray Davies is one of my favorite songwriters ever, so we're awfully psyched to be a part of the Kinks hoot night that Almost There is hosting at Emo's on Saturday (feb 3).

We're the first band and we go on at 9:15 sharp... and I mean sharp, so if you want to see us play Big Sky, Days, and Do You Remember Walter, don't dilly or dally.

Hello. Just wanted to say a few words about the new tunes on our page here.

One of them we're calling "Fast Rewind" (its a working title) and its one version of one of Toby's new songs.
The other one is called "I Don't Feel the Sting Anymore" and its a Beaty song.

We recorded these when we were in Marfa a couple of weeks ago to play the opening of El Cosmico. We had a great time out there and thanks to Gory Smelley at the Marfa Recording Company, we were able to find time to lay down a couple of tracks.

So we hope you like them. There is more to come. If you have any thoughts please let us know. We like hear from our friends.

Hey there friends of the MTapes.

Just wanted to say hello and let you know what we're up to.

We've been working on some new songs and re-working a couple of older ones and will be playing a couple of shows in June and probably one or two in July.

We'll also be doing some recording, some of which will end up on an upcoming compilation on Almost There Records, which we're psyched about. Hopefully, we'll spend time in a couple different studios and get some more songs recorded before the summer's over.

That's really all. I'm not much of a blogger just yet.

Please enjoy the new song here "Wrong Turn". It's another of Toby's songs from his previous unreleased recordings that we've adopted and raising as our own.

All things considered. I thought it went very well. The Carousel has a cozy "home field" kind of thing going on for me, which was nice and it certainly helped to have our buddies Lil' Capn' aboard to help us on our maiden voyage.

I managed to vere off the setlist after only the first song, but I like to keep the guys on their toes.

The setlist ended up like this as a result (some of these are working titles I presume)

Start Today, Enjoy the Ride, Magic Kids, The Odds, Courtesy Officer, Slow Cooker, Creative Midweek, The Walk Home, This IS Why You Love Me (B. Jonestown Massacre), What's in it For Me.

The next  set will be very simliar I suspect except for a different cover. I think we might try to do a different one every show, at least for a while.

So that's all I have to report. Thanks to everyone who came out and to LCT. We'll see you in a couple of weeks at the Parish.
