Okay, so we finally got tired of not having a working website anymore so we're literally in the process of building one right now. But we wanted to make the website different from our myspace page so people would have a reason to visit it from time to time. We have a few ideas of our own so far to make it a little different, but we want to hear YOUR ideas too. Let us know some things that you'd like to see on our new site and we'll do it. Well.... As long as you're not asking for naked pictures of Ed. I mean, that would be totally pointless because those pictures are ALL OVER the internet anyway.... So yea. Any OTHER suggestions - we're all ears!

Either reply to this blog or send us a message or a comment. Either way, we'll get it...
Thanks for your input!

On A Dead Machine (UNSIGNED) ListenWebsiteRIYL: 30 Seconds to Mars, Breaking Benjamin, 10 Years
The first thing that comes to my mind when hearing On A Dead Machine is "why on Earth is this band unsigned". If you take a look at all the recent signees from major labels in the rock category, it's disgusting to think a band like this was passed up. If you want solid singles and invigorating rock music, then look no further than Volume 2: Stop the Thief. These guys are no joke and with the help of Grammy-winning producer Paul Ebersold (3 Doors Down), their latest effort showcases a band aching to be heard. While the radio still plays a role in the music industry, it's no question that tracks like "Hooligan", "Chemical Sunrise", and the epic "Hey, Charade" would take over the airwaves.
Big and I mean big things to come from this band.

Nick from Tunelabmusic.com,
So here is my modest little New Year's present to you all, 25 bands I think are deserving of a little time in the spotlight as we cross into 2008. No, this list is not exhaustive, nor is it request based-it's simply a collection of bands I think have what it takes to kick things up a notch this upcoming year. And without further adieu…

NEW STUDIO BLOG SESSIONS COMING YOUR WAY!!! - Well, it's that time again... On A Dead Machine will finally be entering the studio again to record a bunch of BRAND NEW MATERIAL for your listening and purchasing pleasure! We've had a couple of pre-production sessions, but the actual first recording date is Monday, 8.20.07. This time we have the extreme pleasure of working with multi-platinum producer, Paul Ebersold whose credits include: 3 Doors Down, Sister Hazel, Saliva, Breaking Point, Skillet and much much more. We are very excited about working with Paul. And we can't wait to get back to the grind again to record some stuff that hopefully you'll all soon come to know, hug and love... :] We invite you to check out our new "Studio Blog" often, as we'll be updating it after every single recording session, so you'll know exactly what's happening on a day-to-day basis in the world of OADM in the studio. The first recording session is just one day away, so stay tuned!!!
STUDIO BLOG 1 - MONDAY 8/20/07 - Well, the first day in the studio with Paul was definitely a success! We spent the entire day today doing pre-production (song arrangements and bouncing ideas off of each other). Looks like we're going to be doing a short EP (4 or 5 songs) that's aimed towards heavy radio play. Right now 3 songs are confirmed: Sail Away, The Icarus Plan, and Time Will Tell - More songs will be posted as they're confirmed. So far the arrangements of these tracks looks to be very strong, so we're really excited about actually starting to put these ideas on tape. Tomorrow will mark the first day that we're going to press the big red record button, so stay tuned for further updates!
STUDIO BLOG 2 - TUESDAY 8/21/07 - Day numba two was hella fun... We did a little more pre-production with Paul on the afore mentioned 3 confirmed tracks and once we got that all taken care of, we finally started to record a little bit. Paul has a very interesting and different way of doing things compared to what we're used to. He first delegates the exact tempo of the song (as compared to our pre-recorded demo cd's and ultimately whatever ends up feeling best for the song), and then we set that tempo on the click track, and then the guitar plays the entire scratch track by itself along with the click from start to finish. Then after that is laid down, Ed goes in and records his drum tracks while listening to just the click and my guitar scratch track. Ed liked this better than any other way that we've ever recorded because he said it felt a little easier because there wasn't a lot of clutter in the background or just an annoying cowbell sounding click track. Makes sense to me... So I laid down the scratch guitar tracks for Sail Away and The Icarus Plan and then Ed recorded what is now the final drum tracks for those two songs right after I finished up. All drum tracks were recorded on a GIGANTOR 4-piece custom made kit of Paul's that looks and sounds friggin' AMAZING! Paul is a drummer himself, so he's all about the great big drum sounds that you can feel in your chest when you crank up the volume. So yeah... Even the raw, straight off the board, unmixed drum sound sounds pretty damn incredible. Can't wait to hear what they sound like in the final mix! That's all for today. Tune in tomorrow for more details of studio madness!
STUDIO BLOG 3 - WEDNESDAY 8/22/07 - Day three... Still not used to getting up early and playing guitar, but a steady IV of Starbucks and Diet Coke is getting me and the other boys closer to alertness... So today turned out to be incredibly interesting. First of all, it was business as usual - I recorded the scratch guitar track for Time Will Tell, and Ed eventually ended up laying down a massive sounding drum track over it. So that's great of course. But there was sort of a great thing just sort of accidentally happened... We had one song written (that is without a title as of yet) before we entered the studio that had a pretty friggin' amazing chorus, and a mega-pimp bridge section, but the verse section wasn't up to par with the other parts. So upon Paul's request, I took it home at night and attempted to re-write the verse sections without changing the chorus sections or bridge section. I thought that I came up with a pretty cool part, so I showed it to Paul this morning and it just seemed to really vibe together incredibly well. So we sort of dropped everything to concentrate on crafting this tune... And after it was all said and done, I think it's going to be pretty damn fantastic!!! I laid down the scratch guitar track and Ed attacked it with his "thunderstick" Fists Of Fury (although NOT wearing a jersey today, I might add). And there you have it... 4 songs completely arranged and with the drum tracks DONE. Must feel good to be Edward. So yeah... now that we have the foundation, time to start the building process. Real guitar tracks and bass tracks will start to get laid down in the next couple of days, and then we'll really see what kind of magic we can make. Now things are starting to get fun....
STUDIO BLOG 4 - FRIDAY 8/24/07 - Day 4. Things are finally starting to come together, and the recordings are starting to gel and sound like real songs instead of really great drum tracks with poopy scratch guitar parts! :P The main guitar parts and bass parts are complete for 2 of the 4 songs - The Icarus Plan (in drop D) and Time Will Tell (the first OADM song tuned 1/2 step down). The guitar parts were all recorded using my Mesa/Boogie Roadster head through a Bogner 4x12 cab loaded with Vintage 30's and my PRS Custom 22. We compared this sound to Paul's current favorite heavy rhythm guitar sound which is his Gibson Les Paul with a Duncan Custom-Custom through a Bogner Uberschall head. But we both agreed that the Roadster and the PRS sounded pretty damn pimp, so we stuck with that as our main sound. We even used it for the clean-ish sounds. I just backed off on my volume a bit and the amp reacted accordingly. So far I'm really liking what I'm hearing. I can't wait to put on the extra guitar stuff (leads, effects, weird sounds). But I have to wait until the vocals are done before I can lay any of that stuff down. We also used Hans' own bass stuff for these recordings as well - a 4 string Stingray (the cream colored one you always see him with) tuned A, D, A, D (low to high) and his 1200 watt Mesa/Boogie Big Block Titan V12 head. We ran this as a direct signal (of course) and also through an Ampeg 15. Sort of a weird option for a speaker with that head, but it turned out being massive sounding. We might end up re-amping it through Hans' Mesa/Boogie 8x10 cab, but it probably won't be neccesary. Paul was a little concerned about recording Hans' tracks with his own rig (Paul's not a fan of recording Stingray's), so he was going to opt for one of his personal vintage Fender's that he keeps at the studio, but it turned out sounding amazing. So he just let Hans roll with his favorite stuff. We're all definitely happy with the way the bass turned out sounding. Mmm... Meaty. And that brings this blog to a close for now. The next recording date won't be until Monday or Tuesday (dependant on Paul's schedule), so I'll fill you in on the happenings then!
STUDIO BLOG 5 - FRIDAY 8/31/07 - Day five. Pieces of the puzzle are finally coming together now, and the songs are really starting to gel. I was first up to bat. We decided to roll with Sail Away first. Paul wanted me to play his 1978 Fender Tele Deluxe through his Koch Multitone set with a very mild dirt through the entire song (which is predominantly quasi-clean until it hits the bridge section), which yeilded a super badass tone that I think is going to sit nicely in the overall mix. We layered that a few times, and then we were done with that sound. For the bridge section and last chorus Paul wanted it to be super heavy-duty sounding, so we went for the Bogner Uberschal with his Les Paul. We layered that a few times and it definitely sounds gigantic. But Paul's having second thoughts about the Bogner, so we might re-do those heavy parts with his Mesa/Boogie Tremoverb or maybe the Roadster. Or maybe we'll just add one of those amps onto the already recorded Bogner tracks just for a little added meat. We'll see... After all that was done, we did some cool experimental guitar work with feedback, delays and reverbs and we got some seriously cool stuff from all that. And when Paul pieced it all together and played it back, it was just phenomenal sounding! We (OADM) knew that this song had a strong potential to be magical in the studio when we wrote it a while back, but now that it's becoming a reality it's almost surreal. This one might be my personal favorite of the bunch. We'll see... So after a few hours of guitar, it was time for Hans to step in and lay down the bass track for Sail Away (as well as a few touch-ups on The Icarus Plan and Time Will Tell). Again, the bass tone was gigantic (we're keeping the same bass setup as mentioned in the previous blogs) and Hans' choice in bass lines were tasteful as always. Paul had some cool ideas for bass/guitar harmony stuff that ended up sounding very cool. And he also has a bunch of ideas for string arrangements on this song that we all can't wait to hear! At this point in time 3 of the 4 tracks are coming together quickly. Most of the rhythm guitar parts and the bass parts are done. Now all they need are some extra guitar stuff, a few leads here and there, and of course - vocals! Tomorrow it's Linky's turn...
STUDIO BLOG 6 - SATURDAY 9/1/07 - Day six was all about vocals! Linky and Paul decided to go through the three songs that were mostly done instrumentally (Sail Away, Time Will Tell, and The Icarus Plan) and knock out the main vocal lines (no true harmonies, doubles, call and responses, etc) for those. In typical Linky fashion, his melodies are just freakin' amazing. Very unconventional structures, but with amazing pop sensibility that just somehow makes you want to sing every note with him. The chorus' for all three of these songs are GIGANTIC in every way. And Linky really brings them to a whole new level (or the HNL as some might say) with his voice. The recording process was relatively quick as they belted out those three tunes in just a matter of a few hours. But only one thing was blocking our proceeding to the last song. And that was.. uh..... the last song. Something just wasn't right about the verse sections still. The guitar part and the drum part just weren't all there. Re-writing process in tact. We'll see what happens!
STUDIO BLOG 7 - SUNDAY 9/2/07 - Well, the mysterious problem of the fourth song has been solved! Today we all got together and discussed how we can make the verse sections for the newest (and still untitled) song AS cool as the rest of the song. Paul ended up taking the original verse chord progression and playing it softly on an acoustic as an arpeggio instead of strummed or palm-muted (the old verse sections were first palm-muted and then strummed out for the second half). And we sort of thought about it for a minute, then I figured that I would just space it out a bit. So I plugged up my Line 6 delay into my little Orange practice amp and wrote a cool, flowy guitar line with harmonics over top of what Paul was doing on the acoustic and then it FINALLY came together perfectly! This song has been through a billion transformations, and it seems to be just right now. So yet again, we're unbelievably excited about this one! Unfortunately we had to re-cut the scratch guitar track and the drums because the verse was so drastically different, but Ed and I knocked that out in about 30 minutes (we beez quick like that) and now we're back on track again with our fourth and final song. We go back in tomorrow at noon to work on this one and we'll see how it turns out. I'm excited about it... I think it's going to be phenomenal.
STUDIO BLOG 8 - MONDAY 9/3/07 - Day 8 and things are getting so close now. We did all the main guitar parts for the newest (and still untitled) song and all of the bass guitar parts. We used my PRS and my Mesa/Boogie Roadster for all the guitar sounds on this one. We went for a brighter, Tele-ish sound for the verse and went full force for the chorus and bridge sections. Also, Paul wanted to record an acoustic part over the entire song. So he had a little part written out that followed the main chord progression of the verse sections, and I took that and mixed it around in my head and pulled out my own rendition of it (similar to Paul's, but with a zillion minor 3rd's and fully strummed). He liked it just fine, so we rolled with it. We used Paul's go-to acoustic which is a Larrivee Pete Anderson OM - a great sounding acoustic that sounds pretty damn fantastic on tape. His mic of choice was a single Blue -Mouse- large diaphragm, cardioid condenser mic aimed at the 12th fret. A nice simple setup, that sounded fantastic. I also wrote a lead part to go over the bridge section and part of the last chorus. I recorded it quickly, but Paul wasn't sold on it. It was sort of (purposely) dischordal and kind of out of the box sounding. It miiiiiiight eventually show up on the song, but we have to wait until the vocals are down before we can see if it fits. After Hans and I finished up the new song, I went back to Time Will Tell to re-record the verse parts. I wasn't happy with the performance of the old verse, or the complete chord progression. So I simplified it a little, and it turned out a thousand times better than before. I'm pleased, so hopefully everybody else will be too. :] So this puts us really deep into the recording process now. What's left? Well, Linky has to do all the vocals for the newest song (none are recorded or even written as of yet), and then he'll add all the extra vocal parts (harmonies, doubles, etc) to all the other songs. And then I get to go in and put all the cool guitar parts, leads, noises, etc on top of the songs and then we'll add some string sections to a couple of the songs...... and that's it! Sounds like a lot of stuff, but compared to where we were to begin with, it's not a lot. We're almost there. And of course, you'll hear it FIRST right here on myspace!
STUDIO BLOG 9 - THURSDAY 9/13/07 - Day 9 = good times! Today was ALL guitars, my good friends. And let's face it, that's the way it should always be! mwhahahaaa!!!! Okay, not really.. But I did have a freakin' great time today. I finished 3 of the 4 tracks (can't knock out the brand new untitled one until the main vocal tracks are done) and the dimension that these little guitar fills and leads are adding really make the songs stand out big time. Paul has A LOT of amazing ideas for these kinds of parts, and he's a really "hands-on" kind of producer which I really think makes the recording experience a lot more fun. And another cool thing about Paul is that he can literally play every instrument - so when he's trying to convey an idea, it's always easy to understand because he knows the instrument that you're playing. And he'll also grab guitars with me and we'll work out parts together and stuff like that. Good times... So I won't bore anyone with a laundry list of details from today's session (and it would take a month to write it all down anyway). But we pulled out all kinds of stuff for the extra guitar parts. Some ordinary and some very unconventional - but very awesome. And we basically stuck with only two guitars for all these parts - my old Black PRS, and Paul's old Tele (that's a great sounding guitar). We also did a little acoustic stuff today as well, so we stuck with the infamous Larrivee for that. And Paul actually wrote the acoustic part that we recorded today. We used a capo WAY up on the 8th fret and used a very simple sounding (but sort of hard to play actually) arpeggio that sits nicely in the mix behind the electric guitars. At first I sort of questioned it by itself, but when we recorded it everything fell into place perfectly. And that's always a great feeling when you hear stuff like that just come together... So my work in the studio is almost done... Only one more tune to go. Linky goes in tomorrow to start on the extra vocal parts for the songs that I finished today, and then he has to knock out the brand new one pretty much from the ground up. If he finishes all that in a few hours, I'll come in and write some stuff with Paul over the newest track. But right now we're just playing it by ear on that. We're almost done, folks... hang in there!
STUDIO BLOG 10 - SATURDAY 9/15/07 - Day 10 is actually day 10 and day 11, but they were both strictly vocal days. Between the two days, Linky completely finished all the 3 tracks that I've finished - background vocals, harmonies, etc. So now we're just one song away from completion. So why the delay? Well, Paul has sort of a vision of where he wants that last song to be vocally (again, this is the untitled one that we finished writing in the studio) so we've sort of gone back to the drawing board a couple of times with the lyrics and certain melodies. I think we're finally where Paul wants us to be on it, but Linky just ran out of time on Friday and Saturday. So he returns to the studio tomorrow for what will probably be his last session for these recordings. And then I will get to lay down the finishing touches.... then it's mixdown time! So I've said it before, but this time I REALLY mean it... We're almost there! More to come....
STUDIO BLOG 11 - SATURDAY 9/18/07 - The new song's vocals are now mostly complete. Linky did all the main vocal lines and harmony parts today. Will there be more added? Ehh, we don't know as of yet. Maybe, maybe not. It depends on what happens after I put the finishing touches on the guitar parts. So we shall see.... Also, Linky said that Paul put the first set of string arrangements on Sail Away. I haven't heard it yet, but Linky said it sounded amazing. I can't wait to hear that stuff... So yeah... Looks like I've got one more day in the studio, and Linky may or may not have one more day. The finish line is straight ahead! Stayyyy tunnnned...
STUDIO BLOG 12 - SUNDAY 9/23/07 - The second to last day... Day 12. Hardly any recording going on today. Just a little bit of extra guitar on the newest song (tentatively titled "Hey, Charade"). Paul and I thought about maybe doing some different stuff on top of the verses, but we sort of decided it might be better suited for sampling type things. So we just did some layering with....... wait for it........ his Marshall JCMSLASH. Okay, here goes... It actually sounded awesome! I mean, it's not an amp that I'd want to play by itself live or anything. But in the mix with the Mesa and Bogner stuff it sounds awesome! Has a lot of midrange and top end clarity. I was really surprised at how cool it sounded. Paul once again proving that unconventional weird gear can sound badass in a guitar heavy mix! So yeah.. We did some rhythm parts with the JCMSLASH, and then plugged a wah in and held it in the middle position for some really cool rhythm sounds. It was a lot of fun, but sort of sad because now I'm done recording. I mean, that's a GREAT thing that we're pretty much at the finish line (only extra vocals to be done on that song remain left to do), but we've all had a great time in the studio with Paul. So yeah... we're a bunch of sentimental geeks like that. But hopefully we'll get a chance to work with him again very very soon. That is indeed the plan... Okay boys and girls... Only one more studio blog to go. Once you see that posted, you can expect new OADM on the ol' myspace page shortly thereafter! Gooooood times....
STUDIO BLOG 13 - THURSDAY 10/11/07 - The final day of recording is upon us! Linky went in and did a slew of vocals for the newest song, and now the recording process is complete. We begin the first day of final mixing tomorrow (Friday) with Paul. We're very much ready for everybody to hear the new stuff! Thanks so much to all of you for your patience and your words of encouragement during the recording process. We think that you're going to like what you hear... Stay tuned!
