Please do not use our band name. We still perform in Michigan, plus own the corporate name. Please stop using our band name. We also have copyrights and all kinds of history with this name, not to mention awards from the Detroit Music Awards as well. We still perform using the name. Plus, you're in Michigan and should know the problems this would cause. Thanks.

We are an ANN ARBOR, MI band that has been using SOOT since 1998/1999 and we even own the MICHIGAN CORPORATION, SOOT. You need to find a new band name to use ESPECIALLY since we're only HOURS away from each other and we already have five CD's using that name. We really don't want to get our legal department involved for COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT so PLEASE change your band name. This is pretty ridiculous especially since we're in the SAME STATE! The next step will be LEGAL ACTION AGAINST YOU. THANKS.

After this response you expect me accept your friend request? Are you crazy? Besides the fact that it disgusts me that you are using our band name in any form in MI. I sure don't want any of my friends, fans, and business associates to see I am condoning your page. And to answer your email response specifically, I never heard of you until I did a search in 'Music' on Myspace to see if ANYONE was trying to use our name again. We were the first and only SOOT here for years. If more bands did searches first, they'd avoid a lot of disappointment. As for you not hearing about us, we've been nominated for Outstanding Hard Rock Band in the Detroit Music Awards for over five years now. I won the Outstanding Hard Rock Vocalist award with Soot in 2005. Anyway, thanks for the name update. PEACE.
