First and most importantly, Better Walk Than Ride Like That is here on CD. The party for it is June 18th at the Crocodile with Marty Marquis from Blitzen Trapper opening and Kinski supporting.

Other fun things this month include fucking up my face on a Burke Gilman bike wreck and shooting the music video for Biggest Loves on May 3rd. Should be out in time for the CD release. So many great people helped us with the video. Thanks to all who contributed!

March 19th, 2009 will go down in Quiet Ones history as one of the
funnest nights ever. Write it in the sky in gossamer teardrops.

First of all let me say this. The Quiet Ones are music fans. I know
that it's cool to not care about being in the presence of musicians you
either listen to or used to listen to but when I walked into the
pre-show party to see members of Built To Spill, Soundgarden, R.E.M.,
the Minus 5, Kinski, and other bands walking around I got really
excited.

Add that to the complete disorientation I was experiencing from all
the remodeling and I was pretty short of breath. Don't get me wrong, I
knew that as soon as the party was over and our show began, all the
famous dudes were gonna go be old somewhere, and I was fine with that,
but it was such an honor to be invited to share in the same free pizza
as them. Then we were treated to a set by Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus
3 (Bill Reiflin, Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey) and it was great.

Then the show began. We have never been photographed as much as
this. Go to flickr.com and search for "Quiet Ones Crocodile" it was
crazy. I have never been interviewed by reporters that much either.
Kind of surreal. And totally comfortable, especially knowing that the
reason we were getting so much attention was not because of ourselves
but because of what was happening in the community. And it felt
communal. The musicians were so friendly and seeing Jim Anderson behind
the mixing board was great. And Eli, the booker, has always been great
to us. It was pretty much an all around "LoveFest 2009".

We played our first show in Seattle at the Crocodile almost exactly
3 years ago. It was with Blitzen Trapper and BOAT. So it was such a
tremendous honor for to provide the Crocodile with a first, by being
the first band to take stage on it's first nite back.

It's not cool to be nostalgic either, so let me be a huge dork by
saying that it felt great to have our favorite club back and to bring
it back in the presence of such friendly and esteemed company.

If you live in Seattle, please check it out, for your own sake to see how cool all the new changes are.

We just got back from tour and it is good to be home. We had a lot of crazy times on tour which included lots of sleeping in the trappermobile and lots of laughs. We got to hand out with Kay Kay in San Fran, we also hung out with his Weathered Underground. David overdosed on baby carrots on the sidewalk and the medics were called. We had many an awkward sleeping situation including one nite when we pulled over to get a hotel in Rock Springs Wyoming only to find that there were no vacancies in any of the 12 hotels because the oil industry had reserved every hotel room for the last five years for their "rough nex" as the the locals called them. So why didn't they just make more hotels? So we slept in a truck stop parking lot in the van. We made a new friend in Virgil Dickerson in Denver who is a helluva guy and has a pretty good outfit he runs there. In Denver we got so random gangs of cops walking around in riot gear and also hanging onto the side of SUVs which made being a cop look pretty fun. But that was all because Barack Obama was coming to town. Our sweets Razz M'Tazz got to play a sweet show at Bar Bar with Git Some and we got to go and wish we were playing with Git Some. Then we picked up a Razz m'Tazz hitchiker and went to Bozeman where we played with Sandman the Rappin' Cowboy who was pretty sweet. Then we accidentally got a show in Missoula where we accidentally go to play with the Shackeltons who were really swell guys and also awesome on stage. There on we made our way back home and got back at 4 in the morning and went to take the trappermobile back to the trappercave and our mindz are really shot right now.

Hello,

well we've had a string of fun as anything shows. Playing the Noise for The Needy with Two Gallants was fun, playing Nectar with Plants and Animals the other day was fun, going to Portland with Elf Power, and playing with Blitzen Trapper, French Kicks, Vellela Vellela, Fleet Foxes, etc.

NOW, Dr. Baine the stick guy is going to Africa for two months effectively hiding our thunder.

So we had to think of a way to satisfy our raging workaholism and this is what we came up with-

John Totten is going to be doing a little solo tour with Marty from Blitzen Trapper (NW only) in late July. Watch for them in Seattle at the Sunset...

And also Chris Totten will be debuting his side project (which features the Johns and David), the Exploding High Fives, at the Tractor Tavern on July 20.

If you've ever said to yourself "I like the Quiet Ones but I wish they were poppier" than now is your chance to have your wishes fulfilled!

Thanks all who came to the show at Neumo's Friday nite. It was ton of fun. It was so great to play with such wonderful bands. Blitzen Trapper, I knew they would be awesome because they've been rocking us for years now. But everytime they get better. I am really talented at being out of the loop and up until then I had never heard Fleet Foxes which was kind of like going to a great movie of which you have seen no previews. Downright gorgeous music.

It was a pleasure to join Blitzen Trapper and F. Foxes on stage for Woof & Warp of the Quiet Giants Hem one of my faves off of Wild Mountain Nation.

It was also a birthday party for myself and Drew from BT so many hugs were shared and we love you blitzen trapper and all that.

We also love all the people who were there at the BEGINNING of the show to catch. THERE WERE SO MANY. it really says something good about people when they pay so much attention to all the bands at a show.

Thanks you folks and we'll see you at Chop Suey on may 16 with the FRENCH KICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Quiet Ones release our fourth release ever on Tuesday, Sound Of Fog. It is a 48 Gram 7" Vinyl, featuring two A-sides (Sound of Fog/Valerie) from our forth coming release, Better Walk Than Ride Like That. The B-side is a live recording of our KEXP performance. of the alternate version of Oceans In Your Eyes, a song from our 2006 EP Nite You Surprised Me. The record features artwork by Chris Totten and a free CDR of the whole 7" for your computers or CD players.

You can hear both currently on our myspace profile.

Hey everyone here's from a live review of us in Performer magazine-

Like Little Champions, The Quiet Ones are a family affair, counting three brothers among their five members. Whether a coincidence or a gesture of band solidarity, every member wore a full beard. Frontman John Totten switched between a Spanish-style acoustic guitar and a beat up Fender Mustang; brother David Totten had better luck keeping his guitar in tune than Krueger did; and brother Chris Totten contributed guitar and keyboards, including a nice little Realistic Moog Concertmate MG-1 synthesizer. This Seattle (via Knoxville) group was also showcasing songs from an upcoming record, Better Walk Than Ride Like That, though the set's highlight was when Dave Totten took over vocals on the super-catchy "Hard to Explain" from 2006's Nite You Surprised Me EP. The Quiet Ones' recordings capture more mood and nuance than their live show did, but their set of shambolic, Americana-tinged power pop was energetic and likable, capping the night on an upswing.

And there is a great picture of me with man breasts. Go here to see

ALSO- WE HAVE A NEW VIDEO ON OUR MYSPACE THAT IS A TOTALLY COOL DANCE VIDEO! Feel it.

Seattle Sound Magazine agrees with me that we are a band to keep an eye on in 2008.

"The Quiet Ones attack punk-infused pop rock with absolute confidence
and a raucously steady hand. The band began back in 2001 in Knoxville
Tennessee with the three Totten brothers at the core. The Totten
brothers have since relocated to Seattle while producer and bandmate
Mason Neely moved to Boston. The members keep in contact Postal
Service-style by sending tracks through the mail, while maintaining a
steady slate of shows in Seattle. With two full-lengths and an EP
under their belt, tracks from the Quiet Ones' upcoming release Better
Walk Than Ride Like That (available on the band's myspace) are
well-crafted yet energetic and fun. These Tennessee boys are ready for
bigger and better things."

And a shout out to our MYSPACE!! WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!! For the record, Mason lives in Rhode Island now, which is not in fact, an island. But it does have roads. Also, we didn't use mail this time around. We used the interweb. Also for the record, our record is DONE!!!!

BUT IT MAY NOT BE RELEASED SOON UNLESS SOMEONE COOL OFFERS TO RELEASE IT.
