THE DEAD WILL WALK, DEAR found its way into Insound's "Top Ten of 2007 (So Far)." At the number 9 spot, the National Lights is in good company, the likes of The New Pornographers, Ra Ra Riot, The Twilight Sad, and Bill Callahan. The entire list.

Pitchforkmedia.com recently reviewed THE DEAD WILL WALK, DEAR. You can read the review by following this link. While we can't say the album received a "Best New Music" or "Recommended" nod, we also cannot say it received a 6.2 (see above).

From conception through completion, THE DEAD WILL WALK, DEAR has been a collaborate effort. Titles such as producer, arranger, and recorder fail to give a sufficient impression of the support Chris Kiehne has given to this album. Far from merely recording, producing, and arranging THE DEAD WILL WALK, DEAR, Chris shaped and solidified ideas into songs, added meaning to lyrics, and coherence to meanings. As was the case with Chris, it was my absolute pleasure to have recorded with Sonya Cotton, whose voice on these ten songs, even with Chris' capable recording, cannot due justice to its beauty and, most importantly, its ability to make the most base song something extraordinary. With this inadequate note of appreciation, I say thank you.

THE DEAD WILL WALK, DEAR made an appearance in USA TODAY'S blog as a noteworthy release of 2007. Here's what Ken Barnes had to say:

"[the] National Lights, The Dead Will Walk, Dear (out Feb. 27): Some of the most ominous, grisliest songs you'll hear, cleverly concealed by simple, unassuming tunes and mild vocal delivery. Rather fascinating."

Also included on the list are Arcade Fire and Peter Bjorn and John. Read the entire article here.
