So we have two shows left to play as a band, save for the potential of going over to Japan early next year. We'll see about that.....
A few things:
We have an album coming out soon (hopefully), called 'The Quiet Finale'. Rather fittingly, we are releasing it after Tom has left the country, in the kind of rag-tag, disorganised way that we are used to, and indeed, thrive upon and cherish. We should be releasing it online, so available on iTunes and Spotify i would expect. Or just download that shizz off the internets, like a pirate. I think the record will be out on 'Faux Discx', Dan Reeves' label, which has loose affiliations with Small Town America. Dan Reeves, what a guy. (check out Cold Pumas, An Emergency, Tyler and all the other kick ass bands he has been in over the years).
Being in this band has meant that we have had the ability to play with and meet a lot of really cool people. This, for me, is the best thing about being in a band. Meeting with like minded people from across the country, from across the world, from across a whole social spectrum, with different opinions, different haircuts, and different ideas on how people should live their lives. It's been an absolute pleasure to meet and talk to these people.
Massive shout outs go to, in no particular order: Pennines (Henrrrry, Tristan, Mike, Jem, you bunch of legends), Mike and Joe and all at Kruger/ Cardiff, Badge of Friendship (you guys, thanks so much for help and being nice to us), Tellison, Johnny Foreigner (gin soaked and amazing), Tubelord (loving the album), Chrik, Katy 4wines (the driver who knows no bounds, and whose mother knows how to dry clothes off REALLY quickly), Banquet Records and all at Kingston that have tolerated our frequent visits and made playing at New Slang so much fun (why doesn't everyone run a label like this?!), Hot Club de Paris for being the best band around, Mick from Adebisi Shank for making us laugh like idiots, John Hannon, Huw Stephens for the props and Maida Vale session, the people of Huddersfield, Ben Woodhouse for a really good lift back from Crealy Adventure Park, everyone in Cork for being absolutely bonkers and great fun, and last but in no way least, Hooray for Humans - our amazing and eternal Irish buddies. (and Louis' third eyebrow)
If you're not on the above list, sorry. Apologies. Whoops.
So yeah, another band over, another opportunity to take stock and work out what is important in life, and where we are all going, and what we need in our lives. It's funny, when we started Super Tennis, we wanted to sound like Slint, or Do Make Say Think, or Q and Not U, or something wonky and angular. Odd to see how we've turned out.
Ok, enough self analysis and indulgence. Peace out.

April 27th saw the release of our debut single 'Super Tennis Theme Song', on the wonderful Banquet label. Backed by three other tracks, and available on 10" vinyl and download through iTunes (and other online retailers), we were more than pleasantly surprised to find that after it's first week on sale, Theme Song was firmly ensconced at number 2 in the UK Indie Singles Chart. Normally, coming 2nd isn't something that Super Tennis are used to. Not because we are born winners, more that we generally try not to take part for fear of losing. Remember, 2nd place is 1st loser. Tim Henman taught all tennis fans this. However, we are all really chuffed and proud to be in the position we are in. But then, we thought seeing as we are so close to it, why not try and get to number 1?! Why not?! Eh?! Kev said, "Why not try and get to number 1?!" And Tom said, "Yeah, why not?!" Bob nodded, as if to say, "Why not?!" Now obviously, we will be buying forty copies each in order to try and cement that number one position, but we also need your help. Short of begging, we will say "Please, please, please, please, please, please buy our record". We'll be really happy, and even more importantly, Banquet will get closer to making their money back on this release! Which is the main thing, because they are an ace label and lovely people. So go on, support your local tennis team, and get this half baked piece of sh...I mean, buy our era-defining debut release. And even if you don't like it, be reassured that Ebay is just a short click away. Buy the single on 10" vinyl, itunes or amazon. You can also listen to it on spotify.

Hello,
We are briefly back in london after a brief jaunt across the country (courtesy of national express). We played to nice people in london, cardiff and bristol. We also had a chat on the radio with bethan elfyn and she played a session version of one of the new songs which will appear on our album this coming summer. You can listen again to her show here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/bethanelfyn/
It should be available until her next show goes out wednesday. You should also be able to hear the other session tracks we recorded over here:

If you live in ireland then come down and say hi next week.
Thank you!

Hey all,
Update on what's going down with Super Tennis at the moment. We haven't played shows in a while, but we have a couple coming up:
Jan 20th @ The Social, London, Team Kruger Night, Feb 12th @ Kings College with Tellison and others.
Both nights should be joyous, come along and get buck wild with us.
In other news, we have been holed up in Tennis Studios, writing songs for a full length record, which we will be recording in February with John Hannon over at No Recrding Studios near Southend. No doubt we will be visiting the delights of nearby Rayleigh too, and sampling their local brew. The brew crew will be in full effect. Hoping to get this record out around Summer time, so we can be like Jazzy Jeff at the UK Festivals or some such shit.
We're currently planning an Irish tour in Easter with our brutally intelligent chums 'Hooray for Humans', which promises to be truly awesome, and there is the potential of a Norway show in Bergen at Easter, which we'll keep you all posted on, Norway fans....
Lastly, just wanted to say how sorry we were to hear of the passing of Rich Morris on New Years Eve. A true gent, loved by many, we hope he is at peace now.
Wishing you an exciting and prosperous 2009 xx

Hello!
Last sunday we arrived home from our adventure around the UK with the lovable rogues, Hooray for Humans. We slept a small amount. We drank beer. We got wet feet from the north. We developed faux irish accents. We had an awesome time.
Thanks loads to Claire & Paul @ A Badge of friendship, Owen, Chris & Rik, Rory, Dan, Joe & Mike @ Kruger and the chaps from the studio downstairs, Yvonne, Pippa, Ted & Izzy, Matthew, Simon, Graeme, the lovely folks from Puzzle and of course Alan, Jen, Matt, Tom and super thanks to Katy for all the driving. If you came along to see us play then go and treat yourself to a robinsons fruit squash for splendid effort.
Here is a summary of the tour in 93 photos:
