Some exciting news: "The Great Unawakening" is being played in American Eagle stores in shopping malls around the country as part of their Holiday 2009 in-store mix alongside The Beastie Boys, Passion Pit, Of Montreal, Neko Case, The Band, & Architecture in Helsinki. Many thanks to the folks at WTBU radio who pushed for our inclusion in this mix!

David has contributed a short whistling piece for a movie trailer.  The movie "Sorry, Thanks" is a great film that will be premiering at South by Southwest this March.  Watch the trailer here.  David's other band La Tuza will have a song appearing on the soundtrack.  Check out this movie when it comes through your town this coming year!

The David Wax Museum's self described "Mexo-Americana fusion" represents a completely new genre of music, ironically composed of classic music styles. In addition to the melodic guitar and beat-keeping kick of the drums, The David Wax Museum has blended mandolin, fiddle and jarana (an instrument native to the southern region of Mexico) into the mix. While the mandolin brings out folk undertones, the jarana's sound is reminiscent of sombreros and Ban de Soleil. The result is an eclectic variety of sounds, creating a melodic but unique rhythm draped with Wax's edgy vocals...

Here's a song from our show at Pearl Street in Northampton, MA. After opening for The Avett Brothers in Missouri, we had the opportunity to join them at Martha's Vineyard and in Northampton.

"Yes! The David Wax Museum. The David Wax Museum! Pride of Missouri, direct descendants of They Might Be Giants, resplendent in cowboy plaid and toothy grins, pridefully polka-ing, shamelessly shimmying, well, damn it. I Turned Off Thinking About (Self-Released) is full of the kind of good time, out-of-tune hootenanying that the Show Me State should be known for. Stop trying to resist; let the engine warm up for awhile, find the moonshine jug, put on "There Was A Bridge" and head straight for the mountains. Under Ozark moonlight you will discover a certain lightness, a juniper sensation soused in honey and cardamom, the sweet scent of the ages. Penelope, I'm getting sleeeeepy..." -- David Mead, American Songwriter Magazine
