I really want to say that I'm excited and anxious about what this New Year has to offer for me. I'm gonna try and do lots of different stuff in every way possible...and of course, gotta do stand-up every chance I get. Getting out there to meet my fans is the greatest feeling in the world and the only thing that comes close to that sensation is actually performing on stage for all you guys.
Those of you in Los Angeles...please try and support the following benefit. It's coming up this weekend and you guessed it, I'm gonna be performing on the show. This is the very first time I'll be performing in Los Angeles in 2009...so don't miss it! Don't be a 'Dee Dee Dee'- come out and support education!

Carl Kozlowski is a reporter and standup comic in LA who won the title of "America's Funniest Reporter" from the Laugh Factory. He wrote a story about me last year for "LA Citybeat," and to date it is on my list of favorite articles written regarding my life and specifically my career. He has been so kind to me and such a supporter that I feel inclined to return the favor. Carl has written a pretty hilarious book called "Seize the Day Job! The Humor Book Al-Qaeda Kept You From Reading." He sent the final draft to me and I liked it so much i gave him a quote for his front cover: 'Seize the Day Job is not just a funny book, but a great way to stick it to Al-Qaeda for under 20 bucks." It's a spoof of advice books and also has a lot of funny things to say about the crazy shit we're going through in the world right now. There's millions of books out there but not many that are really funny, and these days we can all use some more funny. There are a lot of books out there but this one is patriotic, funny and written by a good guy that has been good to me so I hope you check it out. It is released through an indie publisher, so the book's not in many stores yet, but you can order it quick and easy three ways online: either through amazon.com (even if it says sold out, you can order it and they'll catch up in a few days), or even better through Carl's own website americasfunniestreporter.com, or his publisher Razor 7 Publishing's site, razor7.com Carl's got other stuff coming out soon, so if you dig him you can add him at myspace.com/carlkoz

Indianapolis Murat Theatre Show.....
Carlos,
Nov 11, 2008 9:20 AM
I'm hoping that you will actually read this as I felt it was important for me to contact you in some way. I attended your show in Indianapolis in late October and thought it was amazing. My name is Darren and before you came onstage, I had talked to security just so I'd hopefully have the ability to see you and possibly even meet you. After the show you came out and did a meet and greet with the fans which I thought was awesome of you. The biggest thing to me though was the fact that security had taken my name and talked with your production company about me apparently and when I identified myself to Brad, he had actually heard about a disabled veteran who had requested to just meet you. Not only did I get the chance to meet you, but everyone from the act had also agreed to take a picture with myself, my wife, and our god friend. Even more impressive than that was the fact that Brad and yourself even told the individual in charge of collecting the money that I didn't have to pay for the picture. I had just had my 3rd knee operation on Oct. 15th, but I was not going to miss your show and I found it very impressive and just plain awesome that everyone in your show did what they did for me. Having been involved in both Afghanistan and Iraq, I am a FIRM believer in the right to freedom of expression and freedom of speech. That's why I enjoy your form of comedy and even more-so your actual show live. Not many people understand or appreciate the fact that us disabled veterans will live with pain and physical limitations such as myself just for the simple things that our constitution gives us as American citizens. Overall, I just wanted to say thank you for what you and everyone in the show did for me. Not only did you make us all laugh, but you also did something above and beyond what I would've thought possible by not letting them charge me for the picture and getting the whole crew involved with the picture. Although what I did while in active duty wasn't anything huge to me, it's nice and refreshing to see someone of your stature in this great country take the time and appreciate what us regular people have done and have sacrificed for this nation. I would've loved to have bought a Judgment hat that was being sold at the Murat that night, but unfortunately being a full-time college student and disabled vet, money is not always around to buy the things I want for myself or my family, but just by showing that awesome sign of kindness, I just wanted to again say thank you. You have always been my favorite comedian and just by the little things you do and have done for me personally, I will always have a high amount of respect and appreciation for you. Thank you for giving us a hell of a laugh that night and keep doing what you do so well. You're a very talented individual and we need more people like you.
Sincerely, Darren Disabled Veteran United States Air Force

On the tour bus, processing what went down since Memorial Day weekend. The shows have been going very well. The whole DJ mixing music with iconic comedy bits is going much better than I anticipated. If you get a chance to see the tour, that part of the show is truly amazing. DJ Goldenchild is an unbelievable artist. We groove artistically very well. It's pretty awesome that I can think of an idea then DJ takes it to another level with his remixes and mixing. The opening acts are on fire. They really are kicking ass. After this tour they'll all be too big to open for me anymore. The DJ, the video elements, the lighting effects, the opening acts and my act have all come together to create the best show I've ever put together. Every show I have had many servicemen giving me thanks for my comedy and support. Also every show so far, at least one cancer survivor has told me that my comedy has helped them get through their hard times. I can't tell you how amazing that makes me feel. My intent with my comedy has always been to make people laugh, entertain and to affect people's lives in a positive way but when it actually happens I feel like I am doing what God placed me on this earth to do. All this and all the people I meet before the shows in the lobby that let me know how funny the show was. I could get used to this.

So I'm on a plane listening to some music and thinking about what's going on in my head. I just finished the 4th season of Mind of Mencia. This year had to be the craziest season for me. I had put a lot of pressure on myself to make this season the best ever in every way possible. The show took so much out of me this year but for the first time I am 90% happy with the show. It could never be 100%. That is not in my nature. I ALWAYS feel like I could do better. That is what drives me to keep doing this after twenty something years of comedy, the cynics, the haters, the accusations of plagiarism etc. For the first time at the end of the season I'm not thinking about what I would do differently next season. That is a very good feeling, tough at this point I don't know how much more I have to give as far as the show is concerned. I feel like I have said all I wanted to say and I don't know how I would keep it fresh and that is very important to me. To me life is about growth and I feel a spurt coming on. I feel like I need to reach farther and higher. The stand up special I shot earlier this year that aired on Comedy Central was some of my best work and it has been nominated for a few awards already but still there's always better. I am doing this tour, "At Close Range" this late summer and going through December which starts this weekend at Red Rocks in Denver. This is one of the most prestigious venues in the world and I get to start what I believe to be the most important tour of my life there. The reason I say that it is the most important is because I was told by many people in my camp that this is not a good year for a tour because of the economy and gas prices. I was told it would be better to do it another time when things got better. I'm sure they're right about ticket sales being affected but I believe that at times like this, people need to laugh and escape their problems more than ever. What kind of human would I be to ignore what is my gift to the world, my responsibility to the world because of money. I can't do that. It's not in my nature. These words might sound bizarre to some of you because of my stage presence but know this, the reason I do what I do is because I truly believe that I am making the world a better place. I really love people. That's why I am out in the front as soon as they open doors and I run back out there as soon as I get off stage every single show. I love meeting the fans, seeing their faces and how happy they are to meet me and get close enough to shake a hand or hug. It means a lot to me. I am in the process of picking my opening acts. I rarely have one person open shows for me. I want to give back to the comedy community by giving them opportunity to a few instead of just one. You know what I'm tired. We'll continue this very soon. Be well Carlos

If you've noticed on my page....I've started having big gaps of comments that get posted. That's because I don't get real comments anymore. I get hundreds of comments that say that people bought me as a pet, people asking me to take movie quizzes, etc etc. And since I approve my comments, I have to go through EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM. Which means that I have more messages to go through that have spam, spam, spam.
Would it be too much to ask that the myspace application comments STOP? I want to be able to talk to you guys and now because of these application comments, I can't. It's really pissing me off because I can't hear from anyone because my inbox is filled with all these messages. I don't want to sound like a dick. I just want to be able to talk to everyone and now...I can't. Is anyone else having this problem...or is it just me?
