I'm really at a loss for words as I sit down to type tonight. That's usually rare for me. I call what I do art, but in reality…for me…it's rehabilitation. The songs I sing are like a document to myself about the way I felt…at a certain time, and place in my history. I never thought about the music as just rock songs…I thought they were performance pieces. It's cool when people pack in the front of the stage and sing the songs back…but it is even more meaningful when people know what I am trying to say. I pride myself on singing lyrics about things that are personal...things that may hurt my feelings to talk about…it forces me to reason naturally…to make a decision based on my gut. And my heart…and not my mind.

So tonight, I got a new perspective…one I have never had before about the music. I knew it always healed me…but I could have never conceived that it would move others…and in such powerful ways…

By now, many of you know about the song "Remember Your Ghost", through countless interviews, or articles that were written, about how I witnessed the loss of a friend…who took his own life when he was 17, because he didn't feel like there was a way out, a future, or an option. I cursed the angels for not giving him the light to see that everything, will pass, and I cursed him for not being here now to see what the world has become…and I cursed myself for not being a good enough friend to see what was happening to him…I cursed the world for creating a system where people could fail, just based on the lack of love. I wrote the RYG lyrics with desperation to others that they would be able to see a light like a firefly is the only thing we have here and now…and that we should embrace it…and that one day in heaven is a thousand here.

Now I have been shaken to my core again…

I must keep personal the information, but know that I received this message from a dear friend. She had recently lost what I believe, was her first love. He died from cancer not too long ago, at 17…again those feelings swirled in me…I wanted to take her pain, but I knew that there was nothing anyone could do or say. Her boyfriend used to listen to the band, so she told me…which I thought was cool… He liked "Remember Your Ghost". I always wondered when someone bought the music…where it would go…whose home it would be in…and what they would think about it…I never thought it would mean so much… months later, the family invited her to stop by, and she had learned something. In the dark days after her loves passing, his family had lost hope. A place I know very well.

She was told by her loves uncle that his father was caught one desperate night, listening to "Remember Your Ghost", and turning to his brother, confessed to him a secret…that he had planned to end his life that night, but after listening to the song, reminded himself of his lost son, and upon listening to the words, understood why his son had liked it…and most importantly…he understood why he must not give up, why he must live, and must love…because…like I said, a day in heaven, is a lifetime for us. He tore up the suicide note. When I heard this news, I had no choice but to cry…and I haven't cried since my grandfather passed away, the real meaning came to me…what music was always supposed to be about…people…stories of our lives,  I am a humble servant, and this music is my only food I can offer you.

And this story isn't over yet. The weekend I learned all of this, the emotions flowing through every show, while we were on tour…I kept it to myself…when we happened to stay one night with a friend of Stu's, my Bass player. Her name is Tracy Labarbera. She is a brilliant piano player, with a stunning alto voice to match…and after she came to see the show in Tampa, where she is from, we all went back to her place, and naturally, music started to flow…even at 3am. We stayed up and sang everything she could play (which she plays by sound…so if she hears it once, she can play it), and then it was almost time to go to sleep for the night when…she asked if we wanted to hear something cool…

.

For a second, I had tricked my mind to not think about the story that my dear friend had told me about her lover's father. But it all came back in a rush when I heard Tracy sing her arrangement of "Remember Your Ghost", with just the piano. It came full circle for me. I want the world to hear it…she recorded it, and I want to dedicate it to my friend, her love, and his father…even a world away…to those hurting  or who have felt loss, because when you hear Tracy sing it, it isn't Uncrowned's song anymore…it's everyone's.  So tonight, listen to it and enjoy, just like I heard it in Tampa, with tears rolling down my face.

Hey guys, it is not often that we get excited about things outside  the realm of music but this is a big one.  Our good friend Scott  Sigler is a fantastic author and has a book coming out on April 1st.   He has been a major supporter of us and has featured us on his weekly  podcasts opening us up to 30,000 new fans!  I’m sure some of you  first heard us there.  We are also featured in the book-on-tape  version of "Infected."Scott has an amazing story. 
Just like us, he started small.   His  story started with the aforementioned podcasts, grew to a book deal  with great distribution (1 at Amazon.com!!!), and if this book flies  off the shelves like we think, it will become a movie (the rights are  already sold!!!).  We are quite excited for him and glad to be  involved with such a cool project!  Grab the book April 1 and let us  know what you think...we will race you to the end!He’s in our top friends, feel free to check him out!!
