*two wires*

Tired at 12, up all night,
the way I felt, my head ain’t right.
Two wires crossed, in my brain,
two random sparks, now I’m insane.

Show me something I can feel that’s real.
There’s too much nothing in this mouth I fear.

Count 40 years from today,
find what your ears want you to sing.
Once there were few, now there’s less,
too much to choose, no time to rest.

Show me something I can feel that’s real.
Whole lotta nothing in this mouth I fear.

Two wires cross, in my brain,
two random sparks, now I’m insane.

*above arrest*

I get my fun from the black market,
you can chalk it up to my daddy’s pocket.
People say I should feel ashamed
bout the way that I play.

I get my help from an older feeling
that keeps me up and keeps me thinking.
Save it for the dark time of night
when all I want is a little light.

I get my time when I bathe my brain,
when inside out feels just the same.
Six days go by in a minute
you could give me one to curl up in it.

I get my fun from the black market,
you can chalk it up to my daddy’s pocket.
If this is what suits me best,
then please place me above arrest.

*rose*

She waits until she blinks her eyes before she says goodbye.
Been that way since she left home, back in ’95.
She used to play her games on me, toy with boys my age.
Now she shows her dolls on stage, guess nothing much has changed.

Well I bet she doesn’t have time for a man…

Rose, you should know,
our love is only little cause you never gave it time to grow.
(come home)
Rose, don’t you know?
You don’t pull up the root before it has a place to go.

She flew so low she broke her back and had to switch her voice.
Her bed now faces sunset cause she didn’t have a choice.

Well I bet she doesn’t have time for a man…

Rose, you should know,
our love is only little cause you never gave it time to grow.
(come home)
Rose, don’t you know?
You don’t pull up the root before it has a place to go.

*abcd*

If I must breathe,
why do I hold my breath?
When it’s time to go,
I hope that I’m not alone.

I don’t want to believe, I want to know.
I want a permanent revolution in my head.

If I must see,
why can’t I look inside?
When it’s time to dream,
let’s stay awake all through the night.

I don’t want to believe, I want to know.
I want a permanent revolution in my head.

If we are free,
why can’t we feel anything?
When it’s time to change,
we try our best to stay the same.

I don’t want to believe, I want to know.
I want a permanent revolution in my head.

*cannibals & mutants*

Rita Lee says “hello.”
What are those words coming out my stereo?
Sounds so sweet.
When brothers sing with Rita, you tap your feet.

Watch the end of the new sound on screen,
be a criminal hero teenage singer.
yay yay yay.

Cannibals and Mutants
chew up the sounds they hear and spit out the mix.
Makes me scared,
to think about the mutants I’ll never hear.

Watch the end of the new sound on screen,
be a criminal hero teenage singer.
yay yay yay.

I won’t ever know where your head’s at.
There are no words in the 5th Act.
I won’t ever know where your head’s at.
There are no words in the 5th Act.

Rita Lee, where’d you go?
What are those words coming out my stereo?
Sounds so sweet.
When brothers sing with Rita, you tap your feet.

Watch the end of the new sound on screen,
be a criminal hero teenage singer.
yay yay yay.

*if it hasn’t happened yet*

Watchin’ liars stain our stages,
thinkin’ bout little dark ages.
Once you start to look beneath,
there’s no sense of relief.

La dee da…
If it hasn’t happened yet,
maybe it’ll happen soon.

How much have we wasted?
How long have we been chasin’?
Been growin’ so much older,
waiting for a look over shoulder.

La dee da…
If it hasn’t happened yet,
maybe it’ll happen soon.

*living room*

Our eyes met from across my lonely living room.
Had to step on heads of friends before I could get a better look at you.
What you said led me right out of my living room.

I used to live alone with my problems,
I didn’t know next door you were crying bout me.
No, I didn’t know bout next door.

Hard to stay in once you learn about your neighbor’s room.
Feels like every day spent in the shade is one less day that you can try something new.
But burn up quick and you’ll soon forget what you left home to do.

I used to live alone with my problems,
I didn’t know next door you were crying bout me.
No, I didn’t know bout next door.

Found you again in the back of my living room.
Wasting time with wanted guys that won’t ever know a single thing you can do.
Get on out and back to the front of my living room.

*oh stranger*

You’re a special girl,
with your cinnamon marshmallow curls.

Oh stranger…

I bet you’re the kind,
that likes to look people in the mind.

Oh stranger…

You’d say “sleep dog, lie.”
Cut my tail off before I could try.

Oh stranger…

*movin’ on*

We came to make a show cause Bruno told us so,
but you couldn’t cut me slack, I had to turn my back.
Almost missed the Three come in from off the Reep,
but they sat next to me, I was hangin’ with the Exis.

If you’re thinkin’ of movin’ on
don’t forget that this is where I stop.
If you’re thinkin’ of movin’ on
don’t forget, don’t forget.

She cut my hair one day, next week you had the same.
She took our photograph, something you could bring back.
I’m gonna stay, defrost, make up for the time I lost.
It’s getting rather hard to paint since I got this headache.

If you’re thinkin’ of movin’ on
don’t forget that this is where I stop.
If you’re thinkin’ of movin’ on
don’t forget, don’t forget.

*running lines*

You been running lines for the thousandth time,
each one more desperate than the last.
I’ve spent many days formulating ways
to live outside the law and laugh.

Are you trying to sleep?
or are you waking me?
I don’t know.

I am here, you’re no show.
Where did your next line go?
I don’t know, I don’t know.

I just can’t forget something like that so quick,
I might never get it back.
Time was so unkind when we intertwined,
both of us were gone too fast.

Are you trying to sleep?
or are you waking me?
I don’t know.

I am here, you’re no show.
Where did your next line go?
I don’t know, I don’t know.

*four year nap*

I just woke up from a four year nap
and it was some of the worst sleep that I ever had.
Oh no, oh no.

Quiet conversations spoken only in hollow tones.
Tomorrow’s weight began to bend my borrowed bones.
They broke as my eyes were filled with stones.
Fell asleep inside the sink, the walls were slick enough to keep me in,
floating in my own little ocean.

I tied my legs together with electrical cords
I tied my hands too so they would not feel ignored.
Then the chief of police said “get on the floor.”
I got down and turned around, the chief was gone, not to be found again.
I never got the chance to take revenge.

Met a Russian princess dancing in the Rose Parade.
She had a band back home, but they had chose to stay.
Her voice filled the spaces in my play.
Wrote her lines, a hundred rhymes, a million more wait in my mind for her.
Fading as they’re waiting for their turn.

I just woke up from a four year nap
and it was some of the best sleep that I ever had.
Oh yeah, oh yeah.

*the vandal thief*

Fields are on fire and we won’t let them in.
The men on the porch have come for me and my kin.

Sounds from the cellar so we barred the door.
There’s water in the well but we don’t drink it no more.

Yesterday, we shared a name.
Now, the smokehouse rangers and the vandal thieves
are throwing pageants of destruction at the edge of the sea of fire.
Fire.

The children in the church are safe, don’t tell a soul.
Lest you don’t long to see your kids grow old.

Yesterday, we shared a name.
Now, the smokehouse rangers and the vandal thieves
are throwing pageants of destruction at the edge of the sea of fire.
Fire.
