Rocks.
Their first album is so great. Take out "Semi-Charmed Life" since that was played like mad (although it has a crystal meth reference the can't play on the air), and the rest of the record is straight alternative rock. "Motorcycle Drive By" "Losing a Whole Year" (first track) "Graduate" (minimal radio play)
All such great songs. I was a bit late in getting this record. I got it my sophomore year of high school and listened to it all baseball season. Ryan and I would listen on the way to baseball games. I had recently gone through a break up with my first serious-girlfriend, so maybe that's the significance of the cd, but altogether four year later, I still think these songs are great.
Pretty glad I put this cd on the iPod. I'm enjoying it. Not bad for a disc that's 11 years old.
Battery's about to die, class started one minute ago. Gotta fly.

Current mood: satisfied
I just like to stay up late and do nothing. It's what I do. The last two evenings I've been up til at least 4:30 in the AM. Today even getting up a little after 9 as well. Nonetheless, here I am still awake at 2:30.
I've been anticipating and welcoming a lot of changes in my life.
+As you know I'm now a Duluthian and loving every minute of it (except those mintes I don't like as much). The last two nights (Friday and Saturday) I didn't even go out. Aren't those the nights that everyone is supposed to be out and about? Well, I stayed home and saved money I suppose. I can't go wrong with that.
+Also getting ready to think about going back to school in the fall. My new focus is to be a communications major with a philosophy minor. I'm pretty psyched knowing that my brother will surely tutor me in he philosophy aspects. Speaking of philo., Russ Stewart (best instructor ever) stopped by my kiosk and shot a little shit with me the other day. I think it's rad that he recognizes me and greets me by name all because I took so many of his classes. I think everyone ought to go and take his classes at LSC. They really give a new outlook on everything.
+In 10 1/2 hours or so I have a phone interview with Pam, an HR rep from Verizon Wireless. I've applied for a customer service rep. spot there and I am hoping and praying to all the gods that rule this earth that I can get in there. Higher wage, better phone plan, awesome benefits including up to $8k in tuition reimbursement per year. Holy hell! That's enough to get me to work there in and of itself. Wish me luck.
+Anyone wanna buy a Mustang? It's my baby and I may wanna get rid of it.
+New band in the works. It's a Nelson/Nelson/Paulson project at the moment. We have jammed all of one night and the couple hours we played was magical. Ryan and Patrick can cooperate musically all too well. I'm pretty stoked. All I care is that we call the band Fysigunkus (Google it).
+Anyone know Diane? She has to be the coolest girl in the world. Had a pretty strange falling-out of love a few months ago. Things got uglier as time went on and that leads me here in my "love life." I just don't understand why Walt Dizzo and I can't run away together. I guess that this little greenish-eyed girl will have to move herself on up here instead. If anyone needs a haircut antime after August, get in touch, I'll set you up.
If only I had means of a midnight snack...I'd be totally ok with eating something right now. Guess not.

It's not that easy to type while laying on your stomach. It turns out that I have over 2600 blog views...am I now an Internet superstar?
So here I present to you all my first blog from my room in downtown Duluth. So far I've gone on one walk with my roommate, gotten food poisoning from Chinese and heard that some poor kat was shot at killed a few blocks from here. Ah...Hillside. No one tell my parents or they'll kidnap me and bring me home.
It's also the case that I am in no part of an active rock band and I've come to the conclusion that it stinks. [Moves to cross-legged position] The HCE is on hiatus, Giljunko is a special-occasion band, Madagascar Massacre was probably a one-show thing (I'm looking for something a bit poppier and dancier if that makes sense) and it turns out I'm not drumming with The Tisdales. I'd have really liked to and will certainly do so if the opportunity arises in the future. In the meantime I'll be enjoying them open for Cars & Trucks on July 4th, a weekend that may just rock...a lot. [iTunes on shuffle = Weezer, Vampire Weekend, Cold War Kids, Elliott Smith and Nada Surf. Sounds like a brilliant reason to be up at 3 am] I'm hoping that Ryan and I can make up some concoction with the likes of Walt Dizzo, Diane and/or Amanda. I'm pretty sure our three-seasons rooms needs to be converted to a cramped practice space.
'Til then, I'll be sleeping...it's late.
Still working on a housewarming party and details will be coming soonish.

Category: Life
It's official. I'm moving June 1st to the Zenith City. I'm pretty psyched to finally live amidst the place I spend all my time, where most all my friends live and play and work. No more 40 minute drives home in rain and snow and wind and other elemental elements. No more beign out late and trying to find a place to crash, no worries of drinking and driving from downtown...just walking and enjoying a killer city all the time. I'm ten minutes from work and even less from downtown. Park Point is minutes away.. Wow, I'm pretty excited. I get to live with two people who don't suck and another good friend of mine should be moving into town by the end of the summer too! Yar! Go Duluth! Yar!
I smell a housewarming party in the works. Maybe?
In other news. I'm seeing Coheed and Cambria for the fourth time on Wednesday. Diane is letting us crash at her place for the night too. Also, I gotta try and get to Claudio Sanchez's book signing as well because then I'd actually die a happy man with Claudio's autograph on my Amory Wars book. I'm beyond lame.

Current mood: hopeful
I’ve never really been a fan of the ends of things. The credits of movies, the last track on a CD, the last bite of a burger or drink of a beverage, final song performed at the end of a set and so on... It’s just never enjoyable knowing something’s over. All the things that I hate the end of are all trivial and really aren’t a big deal so it seems as though I’m droning on... I think I’m ready for an end myself though. I have this urge for a change of things...not too sure on how bigo f a change, but a change nonetheless. I’m pretty sure I want a new job and I know where I want to work. I’ve had an interest in Verizon Wireless’ corporate stores as they have better opportunities to move not only upwards but outward. If I ever get the urge to just move away and relocate it’s as simple as transferring to a store in another state. My contract with Shock may make for a rough transition...and if that’s the case I just wanna work at Hot Topic and let loose for a few months. In fact, I almost want the contract to hold me back so that I can just experience retail in a fun little store with cool people. I already know everyone there and I just may end up working there. The idea of moving becomes more and more intriguing the more I think about it as well. I’d really hate to leave the bands...but there are musicians everywhere. It’s certainly lingering in my mind. I dunno if the Cities call me or somewhere farther. There’s certainly a lot for me in the Cities...mostly in the form of my best friend and another friend whom I’d love to start a band with among other friends who would be in close range. Here’s to hoping for a smooth transition in the coming months. I think I’m excited. -R

So my first semester of "real" school after "pseudo-real" school (i.e. LSC, which was just high school 2.0) is going about as well as being casted in 2 Girls 1 Cup The Broadway Musical... Seriously, I really have no idea where my motivation went. It’s just gone. I dunno if it’s the weather or my job or what but the last few months have just been off. I can’t stay on top of things to save my life, I cannot stay on task. It’s not just school either. At work I just have no ambition to greet and try and make money. It’s hard to want to do anything whilst alone in a kiosk in a dead mall with only jewelers to talk to (granted they’re all pretty neat, Rob and Shanna make for good conversation, as does Kristin at Sunglass Hut so she can listen to me rant). I just forget to do stuff, or procrastinate to the max. I was uber late on sending my best friend in the world a birthday card...lucky for me she didn’t even want one so that saved me the hassle and the $.41. It’s like there’s some empty parking space in the lot of my life. Maybe I’m just out of the loop since Samantha left...since then I’ve changed schools and my job has made me irritable. Maybe all I need to do is move??? About three or four or nine huge things are just crashing on me: -My mom’s finally done with cancer...I’m fairly certain she’s got it all figured out (my mom’s got implants, I smell a website opportunity...) -My dad’s sick...and he’s never sick. My mom had to drag him, almost kicking and screaming to the doctor today. He’s hardly eating, constantly sleeping and on top of it all, still drinking and smoking. That’s a good way to make your body shut down. Yet he’s the one hounding us all about what we shouldn’t do to our bodies. -School. See above. -Work. I maybe have missed out on a killer opportunity with VZW corporate. But my contract with Shock could hold me back. Now I may be F’ed until another spot opens, and if one does and I apply and get a job there, I may get a nice $10k lawsuit shoved in my face. Anyone know of a cool place to work? -Weather. Blargh. It’s MN, I can’t complain, it’s like this all the time. But spring surely could hurry along. Ok, end transmission...hopefully someone who sees this will enjoy making an after-school movieabout my life which probably isn’t all that bad anyway.

Right Now for Cotton, MN (55724)-18°F Feels Like -45°F
Cool eh? I refuse to exist until these shenanigans cease. If anyone needs me I'll be in bed overdosing on Pop Tarts and will soon attempt to murder my alarm clock.

I just saw such a great movie that I think all of you readers should see. Juno was great. What a great way to start off 2008: a great movie with my favorite person evar.
If anyone wants to see this movie, I'm very up for seeing it again. Turned out to be a good movie day with Reservoir Dogs, Waiting... and Juno all being part of the lineup. The latter has such a wonderful soundtrack, it makes me want to be some folk singer or at least learn to play the acoustic guitar so I can just write songs and perform them wherever I want. Maybe I ought to take on the guitar for '08, it's not likely but it's an idea. May it be a year of ideas! HNY.

Current mood: hungry
So I just ate a fortune cookie.
The fortune read, "Your charm will soon attract someone special"
Yeah? Well maybe I don't want to! For the time being, I'm not going to be charming at all, whatsoever, nope, none, zero, zilch, nada, <.
Also, I am Legend comes out soon. Everyone go see The Omega Man so that you know what the movie's all about. It's going to be great.

Current mood: blah
It's late and I feel obligated to write something if I'm going to stay up this late. Why am I even up this late anyway? I guess I'd rather be up late and catch up on sleep in the morning than bother to get up early. I really wish I had a bathroom out here...or at least a sink. I'd enjoy brushing my teeth before bed, but I can't seeing I have no running water. Blah. Work is pretty neat now. I think it's about time for a turn-around. We're pretty much starting the store over from scratch and taking it from there. This time of year is nice. It's hoodie weather but not hat and gloves weather. This time of year I need to start thinking about putting my car into hibernation and driving the tank. I'm almost excited...that Bonneville is pretty rad. I don't care about locking the doors, the seats are so very comfortable and it has twice as many doors as the Mustang. How practical... I also need to buy that VW, apply at UMD, get financial aid set up there, take out a student loan, go into debt, move out, get a degree, make a living at Shock or somewhere, play lots of music, drink lots of Dew, eat plenty of pizza and get my Coheed cd among other things. I'm a lazy procrastinator... no wonder I don't go on dates, I'm just too lazy.
