Current mood:  argumentative
hey myspace network!  Joe, here.

i wanna know who you think was the most influental band/artist of this decade?

personally, i think this was the worst decade of rock, since... ever!  bands like nickelback, theory of a deadman, papa roach, and other limitly talented bands have hit the mainstage and made mad money with the help of local radio stations blasting their over rated singles and mtv pushing their idea of music through the television sets.  compared to bands that have changed the face, the sound, the feel of what it is to be a band, [such as:  the beatles, floyd, hendrix, nirvana, zepp, korn, metallica, ac/dc, etc] this decade didnt produce much, as far as mainstream rock goes!

truley, i believe this was the decade for the underground.  the same sounds came out throughout this year over the mainstream waves, and bands coming up just emmulated the same backwash, called it a hit, and got the fame.  fuck them.
the underground wasnt the savior that most of us were looking for tho..
the underground left kids [young dudes] to find themselves in a metal scene, wearing girl pants.  [lol i really wanna know what the fathers gotta say on this one].  punk became emotional punk [emo], emo became screamo, screamo became a weird version of "hardcore", with the girl pants still, and then became more about fashion.  [research hot topic].  OF COURSE!! there are still bands out there keeping punk, punk!

i still want to know who you think was the more to most influential bands/artists of this decade tho.  and perhaps, just perhaps[!] this is a desperate cry for musicians to keep it real.  im not by any means sayin people arent, but i just want you guys to keep in mind that there should be genuine passion for the art, and be it polka, tejano, country, even back down to emo, you just may be able to produce one art of a record!

here are sum bands/artists of this decade that i thot were influential [and when i say influential, i mean bands/artists we will remember 2-4 decades from now].

the white stripes [coulda been]
lil wayne
atmosphere
mana
wolfmother [i think this is a band on the rise! in the longrun]
and of course more that i cant think of right now.

drop the words!!

from the top of my head, there's been:   chapas bar, maddogs, club faces, (im not a brownsville native so i dont know em all).  my personal experiences in trying to work with venues to do shows has been pretty rough, in trying to land deals.  i know there's a lot of you brownsville people that want a venue.  but drop us a line and give us your input!
