On Sunday, we keep the weekend going strong--we open at 2 pm, and at 7 pm it's time to grill out on the patio!

It's here already! It almost seems too soon. Probably something to do with five weekends in May...

Yes, the Nickel is back up to a full seven-day schedule--through road construction, and crappy economy, and so many other things, we've clawed our way back up to EVERY DAY, just for you!

First, let's talk about the special stuff that everyone wants to know:

This Friday, it's Karaoke with Jammin' Ginger. Come on out and sing your little hearts out!

On Saturday, May 9, come on out for Rachael Sage. That sassy little songstress will be rocking out the Nickel stage all... night... long!

May 16, we've got that little cutie Diana Chittester. And when she brings her friends along, the bar is filled with some of the hottest girls we've seen in a while!

Robin Stone returns to the Nickel Stage on May 23, so get ready for a heavy dose of songbird storytelling!

We wind up the month with Mary Player and Swank on May 30, with some of the dirtiest, sexiest, raunchiest R&B to come from a guitar, a keyboard, a bass and a drum set. They are absolutely one of the best bands playing in Cleveland today.

Now, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, come on out to cheer on our softball team! (Tuesday is one of the two new days we're open!)

On Mondays, we've got board games and movies, not that pool league is out of session.

Sundays, we open early (I'm thinking 2 pm--let me know what you think!) and we're grilling out on the patio! Yes, Katie and Heidi have defected from Wednesdays to Sundays, so come get your 50-cent hot dogs and $1 burgers, or bring your own stuff for them to grill!

Bitch! Performing right in our humble bar! If you were at the post-Pride party last June, the roast of Brynna Fish, you know how Bitch can tear it up in an intimate venue. Now, she'll be doing a full set instead of just a couple of numbers, and she's bringing Early Girl and Robin Stone with her. Cover for this extra special show will be $7.

And the fun doesn't stop there--we've got a full lineup for the next month or so, including Donna Mogavero on April 11, Tori Sparks on April 18, Mary Player & Swank on April 25, Early Girl on May 2 and Rachael Sage on May 9!

Yes, dear friends, it's St. Patrick's Day, and in our annual tradition, we're busting out the free corned beef and cabbage. You know you want some!

Every Wednesday, it's grillin' on the patio with Katie and Heidi. Hot dogs for fifty cents, a buck a burger, or bring your own delectables and they'll grill 'em up for free!

Thursdays, enjoy fifty cent tacos.

This Friday, we've got our dance party, followed on Saturday by the sexy, sultry sounds of Mary Player and Swank!

Next Thursday, a special weeknight show with Amy Steinberg returning to the Nickel stage, followed by Karaoke on Friday with Jammin' Ginger and Robin Stone and Diana Chittester on Saturday, March 28.

Then on April 5, kick off the first post-L Word Sunday at the Nickel with Bitch (of Bitch and Animal and Bitch and the Exciting Conclusion), with special guests Early Girl and Robin Stone. It's an early-ish show, and cover is $7.

It didn't seem like the bookings for 2009 were exactly rolling in, but the next thing you know, we've got a packed schedule, filled with a wider variety of acts in a shorter time than has ever been seen on the Nickel Stage.

After a wonderful show with the Jane Deans on February 20, we're back to full speed this weekend, with the First Friday Dance Party on March 6 with DJ ZepherJet and NO COVER!! That's right, you heard me, NO COVER!! (That deserves two exclamations points because they're free and we're in a recession, so you get to keep that $5 and the extra exclamation point!)

The following night, Saturday, March 7, it's our super-favorites Early Girl, rocking the house like the supercuties they are. Come on out and give 'em some love, Nickel-style.

On Friday, March 13, join Jammin' Ginger for Karaoke, which has really been packin' em in lately!

Hello Nickel Friends:

I wanted to share with you a note form our good friend and one of the Nickel's favorite performers, Robin Stone.

Many of you know Robin from performing at the Nickel. Some of you know of her generosity in donating her tremendous graphic artist skills to helping produce the Gay People's Chronicle, Ohio largest and oldest LGBT newspaper. Others of you know of her through her continued donation of time and musical talent to events like the Ohio Lesbian Festival, Breast Fest, Cleveland Pride, Dancin' in the Streets, as well as many other benefits too numerous to list.

The common thread is her continued generosity, her continued support of so many causes near and dear to our community and her unwavering support of individuals needing a hand as well.

I'd like to personally ask you to help give back a little back to Robin by taking time to vote for her in response to her being nominated for Best Vocalist in Scene Magazine.  Robin earned this nomination in spite of severe medical issues surrounding her vocal chord of all damn things!  

I've pasted her blog below so you can read it from Robin directly but to watch this amazing human deal with some pretty scary issues by performing more not less, by jumping into the recording studio to produce two new CDs, by continuing to lend her support to those in need is pretty awe-inspiring.  Knowing how supportive our Nickel friends are, I knew I had to share this with you all!
