Hey guys!  The Nurse Who Loved Me - a tribute to Failure is out now.  I have two songs on it - covers of "Leo" and "Undone".  Leo is in the main track litsing and Undone is a bonus track for itunes buyers and those that put the CD in the computer. ;)  You can check out "Undone" on the Myspace page now.

There's also a trailer up for the record on the page, and you can read more about the release at www.myspace.com/failuretribute.  Artists on the record include Paramore, Emotron, BL Barakus, Orion, and more.  It ended up being a pretty fantastic tribute album for Failure fans.  Thanks for checking it out. :)

Hey all! :)  Due to popular demand, Ground Pink is now available for download.

Also, there's Failure compilation coming out in 2008 that I'm lucky enough to have 2 tracks on (one on the CD, and 2 on the digital only release).  You can hear samples and read more at http://www.myspace.com/failuretribute.  More on the release shortly!

Fabulous Fabulist is a sarcastic homage to a few of my favorite metal acts - those with undecipherable vocals that ironically cover up some of the best lyrics you could ask for (not Fabulous Fabulist's lyrics, but lyrics of the bands that it nods to).  I always tell people that some of the best music has some of the worst vocals ever, and over the years, I've learned to ignore them.  Energy is lost when a vocalist plateaus at the beginning of a record and never lets up.  It's twice as funny when there are actually good lyrics there, but only those with the liner notes would ever know.

So when you listen to the track wondering why the hell you can't understand the vox, that's the point. ;)  It's a comical nod, but I wanted to do it with some appropriate lyrics, and a solid musical backbone.  I also ended it with an abnormal experiment in intervals, and I hope you guys enjoy it.

Strati contains a pretty wide variety of styles, and I wanted to show you all how far it stretches.

I'm not normally into posting lyrics, but for this one, I thought it would be appropriate.  The album is on the way!

Fabulous Fabulist

Pick up quarters, and spend it on the merch and the message - You're being disciplined - Pay attention kids - Look at the stick and guy with the stick - Learn - I shouldn't need your liner notes to hear your gaul and pride and view of it all - This political edge is over kids heads, but that's your crowd - Don't forget it - Fabulous - That one song says it all - Fabulist - You know the one with the breakdown in it? - Fabulous - Meet me at the mall - Fabulist - We can talk about deep stuff - Nice blazing city - Who does your art? - Tell him I said to turn off his TV himself - Don't blame everyone else - If I hear one more song about Armageddon, I'll start one myself - There's no such thing as father nature, and there's a reason why - You'd have been beaten down a long time ago for preaching that lie

I dedicate this song to the IGN metal boards that taught me so much about this newfangled loud stuff.

Current mood:  excited
The album is called Strati, and will be coming out on Silent Uproar Records - www.surecords.com. The "street date" for the record hasn't been set, but all that's pending is art and pressing. I'm setting a tentative Oct 1, 2006 date, but that's pretty loose. You guys can snag the record on itunes way before the disc arrives if you're interested. As soon as I start taking preorders for the record I'll put up tracks periodically until release. Of course, by the time the first track hits, we'll have a hard date.

The art direction is being done by Asst Art Director of Rockstar Games, &rew, which is a privilege to say the very least. Little bits of his art can be seen on the stemage.com domain and the myspace page, but it's nothing but sketches so far.

Strati is 11 tracks and around 50 minutes of all new stuff. Here's the tracklisting in its entirely:

01 - Star Ninety-Six
02 - Calling the Kettle
03 - Library
04 - Luna
05 - Strati part 1
06 - Fabulous Fabulist
07 - In Dependence
08 - Duo
09 - Anosmium
10 - Strati Part 2
11 - All of Australia

I highly recommend you guys check out Far-less, Bellaparker, and Feersum Ennjin, the 3 current acts under the SU label. SUR rules all, and I'm damn excited about working with them. Far-less got picked up by Tooth and Nail last year and are currently on tour, Bellaparker is a soundscape in itself, and Feersum Ennjin is none other than Paul D'Amour, the old bass player from Tool, and mastermind behind Lusk (not to mention Matt Mahaffey played drums and recorded his disc).

I guess that's it. :) Next update will be for preorders, new website launch, preview songs, and final artwork.

Hey guys.  I decided to post this "re-recording" of an older song, Ground Pink.  It's not going to make it to the album, since the album is more "vocal" oriented.  Hope you enjoy it!

And just because I've been asked several times recently:

1. Yes, this summer I'm putting out an album of all original material (no MetroidMetal or videogame relation).
2. Yes it will have vocals.  There will be a few short instrumental tracks as well though.

:)
