Crawfordsville's Base Defiler is a no frills, straight up, metal band. They describe themselves as five super sweet and killer dudes. Thankfully, their music does not reflect that at all. No bullshit love metal here! Base Defiler brings back the theory that every riff should be catchy. There is a fine line between weak and catchy but Base Defiler does an excellent job of not crossing into the wrong side as their songs are no less brutal for the effort.
Jerod, Mason, and Dustin shred a straight line representing a good mix of thrash and death. Nik's drums work exceptionally well with the mix. He is a solid player with a good ear for exactly what the song needs. Add in the bands love of single note guitar melodies, top it off with Bake's unwavering vocals and you have one of the best young metal bands in the whole state. Expect great things from this band.
