HOWIE BECK ANNOUNCES DETAILS FOR ‘HOW TO FALL DOWN IN PUBLIC’
CANADIAN RELEASE FEBRUARY 24, 2009 / SHOWS ANNOUNCED / FIRST SINGLE NOW ON iTUNES
January 28, 2009 // Toronto, ON – 13 Clouds/Fontana North is thrilled to announce details for the release of Howie Beck's forthcoming album. How To Fall Down In Public, Howie’s fourth album and first in 4 years, is set for official release throughout Canada on February 24, 2009. The album features guests Sarah Harmer, Feist and Gonzales. Recorded and produced by Howie Beck with the help of the effervescent Gonzales (Feist/Jane Birkin) on a number of tracks, How To Fall Down In Public marks not so much a departure from his previous albums but an infectious look outwards at the world.
The result is a fresh, invigorating trek through a soundscape that is both familiar but yet entirely new; a sound that Howie describes as being more musically spontaneous: "Part of the intentional challenge of this album was to take myself out of my usual comfort zone." elaborates Beck, "The process was a departure for me, as I tried my best to avoid any claustrophobic recording environment; very much the opposite to the way I've made my own albums in the past."
In anticipation of the album, the first single "Don't Put Your Arms Around Me No More" is available now on iTunes Canada.
Howie is excited to share the new material live with his new band and he anticipates further announcement of dates shortly. Until then, Montreal and Toronto area fans can look forward to the following shows just announced. Tickets are available now:

Howie launched a complete redesign of his website howiebeck.com this past week, which debuted the official cover art for How To Fall Down In Public. The artwork for the album was completed by renowned Toronto visual artist, Thrush Holmes. "I had been struggling with album art for a while, falling into my usual obsessive patterns," admits Beck, "Thrush spontaneously did a cover that immediately fit the tone of the album. The imagery itself, and the process of his work were a perfect fit. It just seemed to come together very easily."
