I hope Michael Moore's new documentary about Wall Street ("CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY") debunks the
fallacy that capitalism is synonymous with free enterprise. In fact,
they're incompatible. "Free market capitalism" is an oxymoron. Rigged
market capitalism is more like it. A market ruled by fratboys who had
the right drinking buddies in college. Also, you teabaggers: The United
States wasn't founded on capitalism. It was founded on debt, which forced Alexander Hamilton to seek loans from European bankers
which resulted in the USA becoming capitalist. Similarly, the UK became
socialist after World War II because no banks would cover their debt,
so John Maynard Keynes had to secure a loan from Harry Truman. The
difference between socialism and capitalism is the lender: Private bank
or government. And communism is a socialist heresy.
And speaking of heresy. Right wing evangelicals need to read Acts 4:32-5:11. The early church was SOCIALIST!
The
GOP isn't really opposed to big government. They're opposed to big
government that isn't in cahoots with big business. I'll agree to
small government when the corporations become smaller.

MAURICE JARRE: One of cinema's finest composers is dead at 84.
My song "Night Palace" was partly inspired by Jarre's Oscar winning score for LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (1962).
His music for that film is an essential reason why it is one of the ten greatest movies ever made and, without a doubt, the greatest of all biopics. Jarre earned a second Oscar for DOCTOR ZHIVAGO (1965) which was also directed by David Lean. I'm sure you're all familiar with "Lara's Theme (Somewhere My Love)", Jarre's most famous melody and one that has been victimized by schmaltzy interpretations over the years.
My advice to anyone is watch both films on the big screen if you have the opportunity.
