MAURICE JARRE: One of cinema's finest composers is dead at 84.

My song "Night Palace" was partly inspired by Jarre's Oscar winning score for LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (1962).

His music for that film is an essential reason why it is one of the ten greatest movies ever made and, without a doubt, the greatest of all biopics. Jarre earned a second Oscar
for DOCTOR ZHIVAGO (1965) which was also directed by David Lean. I'm sure you're all familiar with "Lara's Theme (Somewhere My Love)", Jarre's most famous melody and one that has been victimized by schmaltzy interpretations over the years.

My advice to anyone is watch both films on the big screen if you have the opportunity.
