It's been awhile since we had any major news and it's still pretty much that way. Ty and Erik have been working on some projects for Kivel Records this year, but have about completed all of them and we're back at writing some new tunes for the next CD. Our management group is working on lining up some tour time for next year while we're recording, so chances are there will be new music available! More later...

You're not crazy and we had to double check ourselves to be sure, but thanks to you, we arrived in the list of Top Ten Local Acts that have a shot at the opening slot on EDGEFEST 2009 at #1!!! The competition was fierce. You had killer bands like Monoxide Project, Wishtribe, Third Degree, and Machina (former members of Evanescence and Future Leaders of the World) all vying for the opportunity. THANKS TO YOU, THE FANBASE, we not only made the top ten list, WE CAME IN AT #1!!! Obviously, we're a little excited over this. :) Now, the final decision rests with the industry panel. They'll have the task of choosing the one winner from a list of Arkansas kickass. However that turns out, know that we appreciate every vote. We wouldn't have made it this far without YOU!!! This year's EDGEFEST, presented by The Edge 100.3 FM in our capital city of Little Rock, is giving one lucky Arkansas band a shot at opening what will be one of the best damn concerts in 2009. You could help BOMBAY BLACK be the band that wins that coveted slot. How? Simple. :) Friday, April 10th at noon, just click on the link above and vote for us. It's one vote per verified email address. Just once. Probably take you all of a minute to do it. No purchase necessary. All ages. Bad credit, no credit, NO PROBLEM! The voting period ends Sunday, April 26th at midnight. And, how about a new unreleased tune to jam out to while you make a note to vote for BOMBAY BLACK FOR EDGEFEST on your calendar? It's called "Reign Over Me". Enjoy and THANK YOU!!!

Erik here... I logged in to check on some mail and add a couple more dates, and when I go the "frontpage" of the profile, I not only hear our music player but also some guy mouthing off about wanting feedback on his hits and how people who don't give feedback are lame ass and it's wrong and yadda yadda. I couldn't see where it was coming from and I have narrowed it down. Unfortunately, the transmission ended before I was able to start my process of elimination.
Hopefully, there's been others to report it and they've already tracked the individual(s) down and booted them. EDIT on 02/27/09: I figured out how it was coming in. A comment left by "Dustin" posting a picture of a hip-hop event (even though he's a rock n roll guy who does some club promo) evidently had code that allowed transmission of some "rappers" who were far more annoying than talented. Hopefully, deleting the comment has solved the problem.

We're revamping the setlist. Since the release of Psycho Magnet, we've been leaning on songs from that album pretty heavily but we're ready to (possibly) balance things out a bit. So, the best people to ask would be you, the fans. What BOMBAY BLACK tunes would you like to hear in a live BOMBAY BLACK set?
(We phrase it that way because, inevitably, someone's gonna call out "Free Bird!")

Hey, gang. Erik reporting...
As you probably noticed from our avatar, we're playing Hot Springs with Eden Crow again in a week. On a Sunday. Weird? Not at all. How we ended up getting into this particular date is.
We agreed to play this gig cuz... well, Eden Crow are a lot of fun to travel and do shows with! Plus, we hadn't been in Hot Springs yet and Rob and I hadn't played at Club 2720 since their cover days. So, we loaded up and headed down at different times. Ty rode in the EC tour bus since they were going to be giving the sound a once over to make it kick ass (and it did!). Everyone else in our camp rode separately. I was not allowed to drive since it was my birthday this past Friday and certain people had "plans".
Of course, this is all while the storm called Ike was bearing down on us in all its furious anger. The ride down wasn't too bad. Lots of wind and a little rain while jamming on Black Sweden, Damone, and The Donnas and lots of Beavis and Butthead jokes whenever someone unwittingly said something that could even slightly be taken dirty.
Upon arrival, the storm had died down to a serious sprinkling and my carmates (Perry, Pam, and Blue) all headed for the bar for some really good food. I'm still looking over my shoulder, wondering when whatever the plan was was going to go into effects. No one was saying jack. Ty handed me two cups and said "shoot 'em. Dark before light." I identified one as Jagermeister immediately. The othe rwas Peppermint Schnapps. I knocked 'em down and waited for my food while finishing a Heineken. This would prove dangerous as I don't really have much in the way of alcohol tolerance. I got woozy, slurred a lot, and ended up being handed a slice of Jim's pizza to get myself back in shape. An hour later, I'm better than I was but still a little goofy.
Now, the power had browned out a few times and dropped twice that I recall. It was back up after a few seconds, so we knew it might be a little dodgy during the set. Management told us to go ahead and get started since our particular strip of road was now the only one with power in town.
We tore into the first couple of songs like ferocious barbarians. I was still a touch blotto and completely without stage fright, inhibition, and a good bit of my equilibrium. We were on like Donkey Kong and rockin' like Dokken as the power dropped out near the end of the fourth song.
The transformers outside had blown and we were now on generator power, just enough to keep the emergency lights on. Since Ty and I had to work today, we had to pack up but agreed to go back on the 21st to play. They say Sunday nights are a really good time for them so it should be good. Our wagon train stopped at the local IHOP for breakfast. It's a lot of tattoos and long hair and we dug in. Until the power went out.
So, two establishments in two hours. We know how to close this city down!
So, see you Sunday, September 21st at 2720!
