we did our 89th show of the year last nite... killed it dead over at the crash mansion as part of the ROYAL FLUSH MAGAZINE FESTIVAL... its 5th annual independent film/music fest that brings serious artists together in nyc - http://royalflushmagazine.com/ ....they have a bunch of great shows going on this week - and we got to play the official royal flush party last nite with a few solid and heavy bands - one of which, GOES CUBE - is a favorite of ours..nice to finally share the stage...i am sure that will happen again...

we started the evening off last nite with a quick blast of a set....   over the last few months, "boyfriend" and the "natural/rx" and "drydive" have all grown into 7 to 10 minute beasts live... last nite was no exception

set 10.16 @ crash mansion - NYC
1-drydive
2-adult themes
3-bf
4-the natural
5-rx

we did 4 shows last week, up in new england and in albany and in nyc.. some of our best of recent, a great weekend overall....   capped by a freezing sunday night gig in jamaica plain, MA - a gig we took specifically to push ourselves and to fuck with some band who just got inked to some deal from another country who were trying to buck up and do some 15 date east coast tour... we basically showed up just to push the bar up they're asses...--oh yeah, and the rumor was up there - that we were recently on MTV - how fukkin hilario is that?.... the commercial machine

set 10.11 @ midway cafe - MA
1-drydive
2-adult themes
3-bf
4-phonecall
5-ufo
6-the natural
7-rx

that show was preceded by one in cambridge, one in albany and one in nyc...  those were all wild and saw us push some musical limits...

we did a new one called "Pleased to Meet You, Anesthesia" to close the show in both Albany and Cambridge... that one is gonna be special and is already a contender for the new record...

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
speaking of new record's - we putting out a Live Ep titled, "57" - via our home base - THE LUMIERE LABEL - due out 11/24 - with a release party slated for that night at PUBLIC ASSEMBLY/// all the details on that are being put in place right now...
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

and finally - we have been good friends with the Bushwick Music Studio peeps since day 1 over there, earlier in 2009 - so when it came time to talk about who was doing what during "cmj week" - they offered us the option of curating an evening there for friday night oct 23rd...

and let me tell you, it's going to be one of the better events that goes on during cmj... which is about as relevant as a sneeze or a clearing of the throat at this point//////our event is full of all GOOD bands... bands that are hungry and doing new things....

lineup:

10/23 @ BMS
"the Blowjob" party for anyone but CMJ

8pm- renminbi
9pm- the tryptics
10pm- pet ghost project
11pm - spiral beach
12am - cinema, cinema
1am - tiger! shit! tiger! tiger!

dj MR D spinning all night...

coming on...like a hurricane

so in this life...

we all set different marks we would like to achieve. different things we would like to accomplish without time and its trappings involvement...

last October, we played Maxwell's for the 1st time.... we got to open for the Dirtbombs.... in honesty....we were chosen as last second fill-ins for Amazing Baby...a band that is making large strides right now...

good lukk and kudos AMAZING BABY...

http://www.myspace.com/amazingbaby

check them... they are doing great...

so, when we pulled their spot at the last second... we did all our best and went for it as usual... both Paul and i bled (literally) all over our instruments that evening...

post-show, Paul and I (Ev) realized that in 2009, we need to double the amount of gigs we did in 2008 = 30 shows.

so 60 became the goal............

we knocked that down with workman like approach on july 21st at Union Hall in Park Slope, Brooklyn..opening for LIONS....(who are soooooooooooo good, sooooooooooo good)...    proud to direct you to:

http://www.myspace.com/lionstheband

...coming just2
days after opening for The Giraffes..(our 59th show @ the court tavern in New Brunswick, NJ - where Pavement, Flaming Lips, Rollins Band, and other important bands we love have played)..
check them:

http://www.myspace.com/thegiraffes

so======

along the way, we have been lucky enough to match up with some great bands.... with more to follow....

so,............we set a new goal..

Cinema, Cinema is going to aim to play 100 gigs this year..

... without label support or any help whatsoever this year...

we will have 75 done by the end of AUG...

so 25 more for the year..

we are challenging ourselves...

and need to leave this year.. letting the industry know that we don't need anyone of them.... to shout out our soapbox of hell from Brooklyn.

come along to see if a band that can.... could.
