Hey everyone,

"A new jazz quintet assembled by leader Satomi Yarimizo (piano), BOP TRIBAL showcases the fierce improvisational prowess of its members. DeShannon Higa (trumpet) & Reggie Padilla (tenor saxophone) provide the dual melodic elements while Yarimizo, Abe Lagrimas Jr. (drums), Shawn Conley (bass) lay down the groove like a well-oiled, high octane machine. B.T.'s home base is in 50s hard bop, but it adeptly weaves its way through modal jazz, bebop, post bop, and even hip hop. This is quintessential New York jazz, transported to the Honolulu stage!"

Bop Tribal had it's CD release party on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Gordon Biersch located in the Aloha Tower Marketplace. It was a night of great music and talent that drew more than 300 people to help celebrate this special event with us. Here are a few pictures from that evening.

Hey everyone,

I just returned this week from a trip to Japan to perform with saxophonist Michael Paulo. We all had a great time making music together, eating good food, and sightseeing. I also had the chance to spend some time with a really close friend who lives there. Enjoy the pictures!

After a 12-hour plane ride, we go straight to Osaka Dome to see J-Pop artists "Exile" perform in front of 40,000 people.

Hey everyone,

Last weekend, Boston based exotica group Waitiki was invited to play at the 2008 Tiki Oasis event in San Diego, CA and also perform as members of the Robert Drasnin Orchestra. I played with the Drasnin Orchestra as their drummer a couple years ago in Florida so this was a neat experience playing vibes for the group. This was such a crazy event filled with a lot of crazy people!!

Hey everyone,

This post is from my tour to Berlin, Germany to play at the Wassermusik Festival. I traveled with the group Don Tiki from Honolulu, HI but I also performed with Boston based exotica group Waitiki. I was really looking forward to this trip as this was my first trip to Europe. Best part of the trip is being able to drink their hefeweizen...even on the subway!!

Hey everyone,

This past May, I was fortunate enough to play at the Miri International Jazz Festival in Malaysia with the Charmaine Clamor Group. What's also great is that my fiancee Michelle also came along for the 20+ hour trip as our tour manager. It was an amazing experience being able to share my music in that part of the world. But the best part was eating great Malaysian food 3 times a day. The staff took great care of us and I hope to come back to play there in the near future.
