We regularly receive compliments on the quality of our Certified Organic Green Jasmine and our Jasmine Delight Pouchong teas, but we are often asked for more variety. What about a Jasmine Scented Oolong? What about Phoenix Pearls? And Blooming Jasmine Tea Roses?
We took these comments to heart and have added all of these varieties to our jasmine offering. Click over to http://www.potlucktea.com/Jasmine.htm and view the new selection with pictures, new smaller packaging and reduced prices.
And, as an added incentive, use Coupon Code "TeaCat" to save an additional 10% on any order over $25.00.
As always, thank you for your continued support and for reading our blog.

We've added a new feature to our site to enable customers to track orders on line. Simply enter the FEDEX tracking number or USPS tracking number into the appropriate box on the tracking page and get information instantly and directly from FEDEX or the USPS. FEDEX tracking numbers are provided by FEDEX via email to the email address you provided with your order when the package is tendered to FEDEX. USPS tracking numbers still come directly from us until the USPS interface is operational. Thank you for your continued support. Rick Pot Luck Tea Company

1. We have turned over our email list management to Constant Contact. The task had become a bit unmanageable. If you want quarterly catalogs and have already been receiving them, you should continue to receive them. If you want catalogs and have not been receiving them, enter your email address on the upper right corner of our home page at http://www.potlucktea.com. From there the rest will be easy. I apologize if folks have been receiving duplicate emails or duplicate coupon codes. As we suffer growing pains we often look to outsiders to help us. 2. Here is my bread recipe. Remember cooking is art, but baking is science, so vary from it at your own risk.
12 ounces warm water (not hot -- hot water kills yeast) 1 teaspoon active dry yeast 2 teaspoons salt 3-1/4 dry cups of all purpose unbleached flour.
In the water, dissolve the yeast and salt. Wait a minute or two, then add the flour, all at once is okay. If you are mixing by hand, mix until the dough is shaggy and all of the flour is blended. If you are using a food processor or mixer, blend until the dough is well formed and comes off the side of the bowl easily.
Set in wide bowl and cover loosely with plastic wrap for between 15 and 18 hours. That's right -- it needs time to rise. It will likely fill the entire bowl right up to the plastic wrap by the time it is ready.
About an hour before cooking, take the dough with wet hands (or hands covered in more flour) and without kneading, form the dough into a ball about the size of a grapefruit. Dust the top with more flour and put an "X" in the top with a serrated knife.
Preheat the oven to 450 with a Dutch oven or other covered iron pot inside the oven. When the oven is preheated, put the dough inside the Dutch oven for 30 minutes at 450. After 30 minutes remove the cover from the Dutch oven and bake 15 more minutes. That's it. Take the bread out and let it cool on a rack.
Do not try to cut the bread before it cools. When the bread comes out of the oven, you should still hear it snapping and popping inside. That is fine. Enjoy. And let me know how it went.

Connoisseurs say the best cup of tea is brewed in a hand-made Chinese teapot made from the "purple clay" found near the Yangzi river. These teapots have been created in the Chinese province of Yixing (pronounced yee-shing) since the Sung Dynasty (960-1279). These works of art are both collectible and utilitarian.
For centuries, Yixing potters have fashioned teapots from the purple-brown clay of the region. The beautiful stoneware vessels became the models for the earliest European teapots in the late 17th century. Yixing pots were made in China until the communist revolution brought production to a halt. It wasn’t until the 1970s that Yixing potters resumed this ancient craft. Today Yixing pots are collected and treasured throughout the world.
Because they are not glazed, the clay pots absorb the tea. Over time, a layer of tea sediment forms and with subsequent use the pots retain the flavor, color and aroma of the tea. This is why it is best to use one kind of tea in your Yixing pot.
We are offering deep discounts on some of our most popular Yixing teapots and tea mugs.

We have been diligently seeking new sources for our teas and herbs and have found two new sources we are pleased with. The first is for a shade grown certified organic Yerba Mate. Initial tastings and samples are very exciting and we expect to add Yerba Mate to our site as soon as we are certain that the supply will be reliable and consistent. The second is for Fair Trade Rooibos. Our customers have been very satisfied with our certified organic (USDA) Rooibos, but we regularly get requests for Fair Trade Rooibos. We have found a new supplier and again initial quality tests have been very favorable. We've decided though to continue to offer both our traditional Organic Rooibos and the new Fair Trade Organic Rooibos until we get enough customer feedback to decide between the two. Our existing supplier of Organic Green Rooibos has not been the best at delivery deadlines and we hope that having an alternative offering will help us satisfy customer demand. Stay tuned. I'll post a link for the Yerba Mate soon and the Fair Trade Rooibos will appear on our existing Rooibos page in the next day or two. Rick Tannenbaum Pot Luck Tea Company www.potlucktea.com

We're trying some new local advertising in Natural Awakenings magazine.
The magazine bills itself as "your guide to a healthier, more balanced
life. In each issue readers find cutting-edge information on natural
health, nutrition, fitness, personal growth, green living, creative
expression and the products and services that support a healthy
lifestyle." This seems to fit our philosophy pretty well. Here is a
copy of the advertisement we submitted. We also offer other Remedy Teas including Flu Fighter, Hangover Helper and Memory Aid Tea. To order, click here.

A couple of things. 1) We have a new coupon code for a 10% discount on any order over $25.00, including bulk teas and teaware. Use code "TeaCat" and make sure the "T" and the "C" are upper case. Enter the coupon code during check out and the discount will be instantly applied. 2) We discovered that 88% of our buyers are women. That is pretty interesting. We kind of knew it, but now we are sure. I guess we'll have to factor that into our advertising mix. 3) We are also going to offer bulk spices, starting with organic cinnamon, cardamom, carob and cacao nibs. Watch the web site. We're shooting for a February 1st launch. We had planned this for last year, but our supply sources were too erratic. I think we've squared that away now. Thanks everybody, and Happy New Year.
