Hello everyone, we've shored up all the details for tomorrow's show now, so if you were wondering...

Belushi's Bar (Pool Valley, Brighton)

Doors at 9pm

Free entry

Acoustic acts followed by
Mind Train followed by
KIYOMORI followed by
Swervin Merv

We have finalised two of our new tracks to perform tomorrow, here's the lyrics:

Fighting Fire With Fire

Vendetta, vendetta
Why don't we just try to communicate better?
Violence escaltes when we retaliate, why not negotiate?
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth
It's all we've known.

Revenge breeds revenge,
Will there be no end?
Following the orders of a handful of greedy men.
Drunk on power, hungry for war,
Both sides the same.

One last chance to stop being a hypocrite
Keep fighting fire with fire and we'll all end up burnt
Try forgiveness, turn the other cheek for once

(bridge)

One last chance to stop being a hypocrite
Keep fighting fire with fire and we'll all end up burnt
Try forgiveness, turn the other cheek for once

What Goes Around?

Renting a plot in the graveyard of ambition,
Well I find getting out's a war of attrition.
But I'm a man, I'm a man on a singular mission,
I will not stop 'til I achieve my vision.
I'm not gonna wait for another opportunity to pass me by
I'm not gonna sleepwalk anymore.
I'm not gonna be denied.

What goes around comes around
This is the future sound, This is the future sound
What goes around comes back around

D'you feel somehow that the world owes you a favour?
Or are you waiting for that day to come, sooner or later?
Thought you'd make it to the top by following the rules?
Fool! Just live your life!
I'm not gonna wait for another opportunity to pass me by.
I'm not gonna dream about it anymore,
I've gotta stop getting high.

What goes around comes around
This is the future sound, This is the future sound
What goes around comes back around

(bridge)

What goes around
What goes around
What goes around comes around
What goes around comes around

What goes around comes around
This is the future sound, This is the future sound
What goes around comes back around

What goes around comes around
This is the future sound, This is the future
What goes around comes back around

Night Night.

Yesterday we spent a whole long 6 hours in 284 rehearsal rooms making a god almighty racket. A six hour jam was totally necessary, for this is the first time we've played together as Kiyomori (outside of each others homes and bedrooms) since March, when we performed at Brighton Uni's Falmer Campus Retreat Bar.

I wish we'd taken our 8-track down to record some of the jams. Some of the new territory we explored will be hard to recall and we hit some pretty sweet moments working all the way round some of our big bag of unfinished numbers. We've decided to unchain the beast and let the music flow the way it wants to, so these compisitions have been allowed to change at every performance.

On Wednesday we're going to have another acoustic jam just to put some ground rules on them, so we can stop them from becoming 20 minute epics on Thursday... today I'm going to be locked in my room with an acoustic and a notebook, not leaving until I've got some lyrics I'm happy with.

The new tracks for Thursday are looking to be...

Fighting Fire With Fire - the most cohesive in some ways, cos we played a verison of it once before and it has 90% lyrics and 95% structure... but all of this is still up for debate, and the fact we played it once and not again may be a litmus for the mixed feelings we have on it.

What Goes Around - in my mind the most promising of this wee batch. I think this is the one we were humming when we got home for the post-session analysis.

Deliverance - Sean-Lee and I swap on this one as he felt my guitar riffs sounded like bass riffs, which has worked out pretty nice, although quite a finger-work out for me. This track may well get sewn-up pretty quick when I've made sense of the lyrics. There's a couple of different ways ot play the chorus, I'm torn between.

The Cmin Track - The title refers to my habit of re-tuning the D string to C to create a drone that gives the chords an interesting character. While this is easily one of the most fun things to play, which has an instant mood of its own, it's also schizophrenic as hell. It needs to decide what kind of song it wants to be so we can write it and then let it change again!

We'll be playing None of the Above, Not Scared of You and Speak Clearly from our Uprising EP and Banging, Dance Like A Robot and World They Built For Us. We tried out Puppet on a String but it turned out to be a bit to tricky to bring back to life... the others sounded good with relatively little effort, but Puppet has subtle nuances and some major tempo changes. We could feasibly play it, but we wouldn't enjoy it!

Right, far too much typed now, time to get on with doing stuff and stop talking about doing stuff!

Hiya folks, Kiyomori are pulling out of our hiatus with a low key show next week at Belushi's Bar in Brighton. Belushi's is next to the pool valley bus depot on the seafront side. It's in the basement of the pub on the corner. The gig is to celebrate Ash from the Sly Tone's birthday and Mind Train, a band led by old Kiyomori colaborator Aaron Neville which Adam plays bass in, are also playing.

We'll mostly be playing a set of old classics but, depending on the productivity of next weeks rehearsals, we'd like to pull out a new track or too, as we've been working on so many! Right now I can't say for sure what time we'll be on or how much entrance will be, but I shall post a blog with those details as soon as I have them.

If you're wondering what we've been up to in the meantime here's a video of Adam, Ben and Sean-Lee playing in Xam Xam at the Sallis Benny Theatre on October 10th. For more info check the Xam Xam myspace.
