To spite its tiny size, this free program has plenty of tools for recording n editing. Though its design is basic n not graphically rich, WavePad is simple. The program supports a variety of audio formats, including MP3, WAV, n WMA, it also includes a CD ripping. Once you open a file or begin recording via your sound card, you'll see a large rendering of the waveform, and you can choose to apply edits to the entire track or only parts. The application lets you open several files at once n move sound fragments among them, n the inclusion of a batch-conversion utility is a nice touch. WavePad offers a decent number of basic effects, such as noise reduction, fading, amplification, echo, n reverb. You can preview any edits before saving. All told, this utility's many capabilities n lack of restrictions make it fine for anyone but very advanced audio junkies.

This just may be the best free synth out there. I can't believe I didn't try this sooner. The sound is so rich and fat, it's just beautiful. I can't believe it's free! :)
Superwave comes with a list of midi CC's so you can set your controller for controlling the parameters, which is a very nice feature for a free softsynth.
The presets are excellent and really showcase Superwave's ability to do rich analog sounds. The brassy sounds are some of the nicest I have heard in a virtual synth. This synth is a great choice for trance sounds, but I'm using it for pads n sweeps ETC.
