Category: Parties and Nightlife

Ahoy mates!  We're not dead yet.  They'll have to kill us before WE die!

So, being still alive and all, we'll be opening up the SINferno Cabaret at Dante's this Sunday night at 9pm.  Service industry and sex workers get in for half price!  Shouldn't sex workers be considered part of the service industry anyhow?  Just saying...

Yarr and we've got new songs fer ya!  This show is a benefit for the Clambeard for President in 2020 Campaign!  I'll be sobered up by then I figure...

Yarr and the Willy Week gives us a nice little blurb on their website fer arr show this weekend.  Check it oot:

[PLANK YANKERS] With Plunderathon—the Santaconian celebration of pillagin', lootin' and scalawaggery—coming ashore next week, now's the perfect time to experience cock-rock pirates Sunken Chest. Pirates have been spread wafer-thin in the post-Jack Sparrow era, but Sunken Chest manages to feel like the real deal, rocking the ship with distortion-heavy sea ballads, double-entendres about cannon balls and tales of knife-wielding monkeys, surly wenches and high-seas hijinks. It's surprisingly funny and undeniably catchy. And there are worse ideas for a grade-A pirate band than opening for anthemic sing-along punks like My Life In Black and White. AP KRYZA. 9 pm. Ash Street Saloon, 225 SW Ash St., 226-0430. $5. 21+.

That aboot says it all.  If only it were in the print edition, too.  Ye can't wipe yer ass with a website.  Lord knows I've tried...

Pirates for the Preservation of New Orleans Music (PPNOM.org) and ModernBard.org are pleased to announce the release of the first of a two CD release, Lafitte's Return - Volume 1. The CD may be purchased at http://kunaki.com/sales.asp?PID=PX00BWWNNP

The CD itself is a who's who of the top names in pirate and maritime entertainment including, Skip Henderson & the Starboard Watch, the Pyrates Royale, Tom Lewis and many others who volunteered their music to this project.

The proceeds from this CD benefit the New Orleans school music programs. Buy purchasing this CD for yourself (or as a gift for that pirate lover in your life) you are helping the pirate community ensure that the musical soul of New Orleans lives on for generations to come.

With the largest gathering of seadogs since Morgan sacked Panama, this album (along with its soon to be released companion album) covers a wide range of styles from traditional shanties, to pirate ska and pirate metal. There is something for everyone on this CD.
