Is it cheating on your band if a member gets on stage with a different group to perform a song???

With the encouragement of Bill, V-Diddy got up on stage with the very entertaining cover band "The Breakfast Club" last night at Tailgaters.  TBC asked if anyone in the audience knew "Jump Around" by House of Pain, and immediately Vince's hand went up.  Bill ran up to the stage to tell them someone could do it, and before you know it, there was Vince up on stage channeling his inner "B-Rabbit"...obviously they didn't know who they were messing with when they called him up there...

We're at Gunther's in Plainfield next Saturday night.  We've heard nothing but good things about this bar and that people that frequent it.  We're looking forward to partying with everyone that night as we dust off some the old covers and break out some new ones...See you there!!!

This Friday, June 12th, we will be playing at Frankie's Blue Room in downtown Naperville in conjunction North Central College's Alumni office.  Since it's the night before NCC's graduation, we will be providing the soundtrack for the evening where we will be celebrating the graduates as well as welcoming back any alums.  We hope to see many familiar faces out that night, as well as plenty of newbies this Friday.  Be on the lookout for new originals as well as new covers.  Also be on the lookout for sugar/powder flying through the air as the rhythm section of the band may be doing a few "LeBombs" that night...

While it's been some time since our last show, things have been progressing for TLU.  We are currently working on numerous new original tunes, which we will hopefully record and have for everyone by the end of the summer.  We're excited to get these songs out there and get feedback from people.  We're also looking to expand our cover list and find new bars/venues to play at, so if you have any suggestions, please drop us a line.

In the morning it'll be alright...

Dear Friends,

Imagine the nightmare of being told you have a serious—perhaps fatal—illness. It’s exactly what doctors told Leslie Baumann, a 28-year-old teacher from Oswego. In September 2008, Leslie was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer that had metastasized to her liver. Over the past three months, she has undergone eight chemotherapy treatments in hopes of shrinking the eight tumors on her liver.

As a 2003 graduate of North Central College and a Naperville 204 School District teacher, Leslie looks forward to thriving in the now and dreaming of her future. With chemotherapy treatments, medical testing and an eventual surgery to remove most of her liver, she strengthens her hope of beating this illness.

Join Us!
With the struggle to not only keep up with the cost of living but also to pay for her medical treatments, Leslie needs your help. Please join us for a four hour open bar of beer, wine and soda, light appetizers, the music of The Lady Upstairs, and DJ Brad Lee, raffles and a silent auction as we raise the funds needed to offset the cost of Leslie’s medical treatments.

Can’t Attend?
You can still help by donating money towards this good cause. You can also donate raffle and silent auction items such as gift certificates, merchandise and event tickets. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to helping cover the growing expenses for Leslie’s fight for full recovery. If you or your company is interested in contributing to our fundraising efforts, you can contact and/or send contributions to either contact listed below. Please make out your monetary donations to Luck for Leslie. If you would like to donate an item for either the silent auction or raffle please contact us by February 21, 2009. RSVP’s are requested for the event and would be appreciated by February 27, 2009. Thank
you so much for your time and consideration. Your generosity will not go unnoticed!
If you would like to attend the event, please email LuckForLeslie@yahoo.com, for the ticket order form.

We just wanted to remind everyone about our two huge shows coming up, the first being this Saturday @ Frankie's Blue Room in Downtown Naperville. Brian Sharpe will be kicking the evening off for us around 9 p.m., and we'll get up there on stage a little after 10. It's been some time since we've been in the spotlight, so we're pumped to share some new tunes with everyone. All the masses of people that always come out to Frankie's have always treated us well, and we're sure this night will be no different. We want to pack this place again and party with everyone Lionel Ritchie style.

For those of you looking for something to do Halloween night, we're playing a show at Legend's out in Yorkville. The bar is expecting a huge turnout that night, plus it's one of our good friend's birthday party that night. Grab your best costume and join us in Yorkville.

We know it's been quite a while since we've played a show, but all of that is about to change. In October, we have two gigantic shows. On Saturday, October 18th, we're playing at Frankie's Blue Room in Naperville. It's North Central's Homecoming, and we've packed the bar the last two years for this show. We expect nothing less than that this time. The Miller Brothers will be kicking off the night around 9 p.m., and we'll take you home the rest of the way with some new original tunes, some new cover songs, and all the other fan-favorites you guys shake your asses to.

The other big show this month is on Halloween night. We'll be partying it up at Legends in Yorkville that night, and we cannot wait to see all the scantily-clad women that go all out with their costumes...speaking of costumes, ours are going to be sweet. Come on out to that show to see just exactly what it is we have up our sleeves.

Darkness crawls across the land...
The Midnight hour is close at hand...

A big congrats go out to our boy David and his new bride Melissa on their big day yesterday. As in all the cases of the guys in TLU, David definitely out kicked his coverage on this one...

The day got off to a beautiful start with the ceremony at a nice Church in the bride's hometown (that's where she's from, for those of you that are like Bill)...the bride looked amazing, and David looked confused, as always....Big Brother Mike, who apparently is David's hero because of his role of "raising him to be the man he is today", did a great job walking down the aisle as a part of the bridal party...Bill and Vince did their part in the ceremony as well by taking a little toddler out of the Church in order to keep her pre-occupied (actually it was the other way around...who knew an 18-month old could keep two grown men so occupied for the length of a Catholic Wedding)...the two are thinking about starting a service on the side because of this...

The rest of the night was a blast, although it did have a rocky start when Bill received the terrible news that he wasn't sitting at the same table as Nick and Vince...to make matters worse, when Bill showed up to Table 15, there was no seat available for him...so despite the bride and groom's attempt to keep the shenanigans at a minimum, the three sat together and heard some great embarrassing stories about the brothers Kulbeda in their younger days...who knew anyone could be that deathly afraid of clowns???

Big Props to the DJ's who rocked the Reception and had the dance floor packed all night...Mike turned from bad speech giver (think "Old School" best man speech bad) to videographer when the boys hit the floor and showed their best dance moves...whether it was Bill doing the worm or spraying beer all over the place during the garter toss, Miller dancing like Axel Rose or twirling girls all over the place, or Vince sliding across the floor or playing a mean leg-guitar, there's no way that video footage won't somehow wind up on YouTube...even Mike showed off his skills, although the dice throw is his only move...

Be on the look-out for a band photo taken that night where the guys did their best Cheerleading pyramid pose...the best part of the picture may be Vince's "Pebbles" hair-do with a little hair-tie in the front of his head (thanks Brianna for styling it and Vanessa for providing the tie)...

Current mood:  sleepy
It's been a long time since anything of real meaning has taken place with us (not really...we've just be holding back on all of you), but the time has come to throw our beloved drummer completely under the bus...

Bill, who is a fantastic dancer by the way, is notorious for his go-to dance move, "The Worm"...he has performed this move all over the Midwest, including on counter-tops, at camping trips, and in dance circles..."The Worm" was back on display once again Friday at a Modern Day Romeos show (those guys are amazing...if you haven't seen them live yet, you are missing out big-time)...the guys from MDR cleared an area for people to throw down their best moves, and without second thought, Bill bolted in a gave the crowd a spirited effort...

In other Bill news, we retrieved a missing box of CD's Saturday night...we'd like to give a special thanks to all the people on Chicago Ave. in downtown Naperville that fought over the free CD's Bill was dishing out, including the cabbie that drove us home that allowed us to pay him in CD's along with the bicycle patrol officers controlling the area...we hope you threw the CD in your player when you got into your car and liked our music...all in all, Bill distributed around 50 CD's to some lucky people that went home with some baby makin' music ("Home at Night" is baby makin' isn't it???)...

Speaking of cab rides, Bill almost killed Vince Saturday night by wrapping the seat belt around his neck in the back-seat...Vince was a willing participant at first, but when he started making gargling sounds and started turning blue, he quickly realized this was a bad idea...luckily (or maybe not, depending on how you look at it), Bill was able to get the seat belt off in time...

Vince would like to send out an apology to everyone he called and serenaded with "Your Love" by The Outfield...hopefully the 10-15 seconds of him screeching didn't break any ear drums...and never, ever, ever give our man Bart, a.k.a. Badds, a full beer during "Pour Some Sugar on Me"...he takes the lyrics as direct orders and sprays the bar full of liquid when he hears "take bottle/shake it up" as was seen Saturday night at a local Naperville establishment...amazingly, he wasn't tossed from the bar or beat up by the guy in the fancy dress shirt who was upset that his nice button down Abercrombobbie was ruined...
