...True to its New York punk heritage, the Rats play tight, attitude-laden songs that will shake your hips like a jukebox full of the Ramones. Vocalist Jake Rat snarls rock 'n' roll wisdom about sly women while Shingo's rough-hewn drums and Kitty G. Litter's bass rattle at lightning speed. But just when it seems like the music is spinning out of control, the unpredictable East Coast band can slow down to crank up brilliant beer-soaked ballads...

We're making an appearance in Jon Land's latest mystery-thriller... playing at a roadhouse on an old lost highway on the Mexican border. I guess we fit into the "cartoonish supervillain" part of the reviews!? I dont know - check it out:

Big Fan is a black comedy / thriller about a totally obsessed sicko NY Giants fan who takes everything way beyond the accepted limits of fan-love. The Rats and their music premier in the film, by writer/director Robert D. Siegel (also The Wrestler, The Onion)

Following the films coverage at Sundance (grand jury prize nominee) at Sundance '09, BIG FAN will be touring the film festival circuit, leading up to distrobution in theaters beginning late August 2009

People have been comparing it to the tough anti-hero flicks of the late 60's like " Five Easy Pieces" and " Taxi Driver"

DENIMZINE issue no. 17, Sweden

Hey neat magazine...lots of color and in an elongated very hot looking format.

Look for the big Roky Erickson mug, and Jack White being twattie.

It says we are good and everyone should give us tons of money,

or at least free beer

Check back later for translated bits:

Hey, we are in the Maximum RocknRoll top 10 list.

if you dont know maximumrocknroll, they count. they also have a reputation for being brutally frank

we didnt even have to buy an ad, so try to forgive MRR for being from california...

here's the review:

"THE RATS - "The EP" EP

Another fucking dandy. And from another band that
seems like it might be composed of New York hipsters.
Still, I've said it before and I may say it again: if
they continue to put out records as good as this one,
I don't give a shit if they're hipsters. I won't even
hold it against them that they're from New York. This
one brings a sense of urgency that you just don't find
all that often. Some tracks are faster-paced, others
slower. They're all rockers. One even sounds like it
could be a VELVET UNDERGROUND track. Still, trust me
when I say that it, too, is a rocker. This one's
limited to 500. Look for it and anything else you see
by these guys. (KK)
