Hello again fellow headbanging maniacs! It has truly been a long time since we have been in touch with the metal world again. It has actually been our longest off time we have had since our junior year of high school. We hope all of our friends/ bands have been thrashing the shit out of California and elsewhere. We had a very interesting summer as well as a very long tour as you may well know. Unfortunately a week into the tour drummer Derek Bean went through some rough shit and ended up in the hospital and is still in the process of recovering. So then we had to figure out how to continue the tour and find a replacement. Luckily our good friend Gio of Merciless Death/ Dismantle was cool enough and supportive enough to leave his family to join the onslaught so we could continue thrashing America. After flying Gio into the city of Boston we were able to then start thrashing the remainder of the dates. As a whole America has got one hell of a heavy metal/ thrash scene quaking in the underground at the moment and we were fortunate enough to meet a lot of cool people and see a lot of cool things. Besides our obvious touring companions Rattlehead from LA (all 8 of us crammed in a van), some of the cool bands we were fortunate to play with were Mantic Ritual, Ravage, Razor Wire, Diamond Plate, HMP, Conniption(beer and brauts), Amoricide, Satans Sidekick, and all the others we played with but could not recall at the moment due to touring inebriation. Cool cities that have sick scenes brewing were Dallas, Albuquerque, Boston, Pittsburg, Worchester, Philadelphia(hammered), Aurora, LA(given), Lincoln, Jewett City, KCMO, Salt Lake(hella hot chicks) Seattle, Olympia (thanks Metal Church tattoo dude), Portland, and Palo Alto(van trailer shitted out on Oakland freeway make up gig soon). Special thanks to Patrick’s dad(Pensacola FL), ultra special thanks to all the people who housed/fed/boozed/smoked us out across this land of plenty, getting hammered/ stoned with singer of Bloodfeast and Guitarworld writer at Sals in Brooklyn. Marco our Publisher in Vegas because it is always cool talking and learning (sensei!), AAA for saving our assess abroad multiple times, extra special thanks again to Rattlehead because we were able to share such an unique and dynamic experience that this first big tour was, and last but certainly not least the promoters who gave a shit enough in some cities to go out of their way for us and Rattlehead and really promoted the gigs in their home cities. We hope to thrash your city soon maniacs! Wreck your necks and keep moshing!!! P.S. As of recent we have the Devastator creative gears rolling again and will have new thrash metal and gigs as well and mass mayhemic moshing coming soon fuckers!

Two of California’s most promising young metal acts, thrashers RATTLEHEAD (from LA) and DEVASTATOR (from Sacramento), will be teaming up to tour the country this summer bringing their own brand of metallic mayhem to over 40 cities. The tour, appropriately called Slaughtering The Masses, will be both bands’ first cross-country trek, although each has done successful west coast and regional touring.
Southern California’s Rattlehead have long been a hard-working cornerstone of the LA metal scene. The group have a committed DIY attitude, as witnessed by previous regional touring and the release last year of their own disc, Step Inside For The Slaughter, which they are still promoting.
Northern California’s Devastator have been having a great year. With the release of the group’s latest demo/EP, Burn The Beast, the group have received major accolades from metal press, radio and fans who recognize the band’s commitment to true metal and their continued progression as players and songwriters. The trio will embark on the tour in support of the EP and plan to finalize a label partner this fall upon completion of the dates so they can begin recording their debut before year’s end.
Visit each bands’ MySpace profile to purchase copies of the CDs and to get more information about them and the tour: Rattlehead, Devastator.

Have you ever wondered what people in the music industry consider to be their favorite metal albums? More specifically people who are in the metal industry. How about some of your favorite musicians from possibly one of your favorite bands? What about people who signed, discovered, or even helped make that album or group you think is the best ever? It is pretty interesting when very recently, a survey is conducted where just those same type of people gave their own lists of the top 5 favorite metal albums. We were just one of the many that contributed to the metal poll on www.teethofthedevine.com for our favorite metal albums. Click the link below to find out what other bands and music industry heavyweights had to contribute. You may be suprised by what people said. Feel free to contribute your own top 5 list as well.
P.S If you look hard enough you can spot my list in there somewhere!

Devastator - Burn the Beast

Devastator - Burn the Beast Self Released (2008) Sacramento, California thrashers Devastator have unleashed a new demo called “Burn The Beast”. The new demo was recorded at Trident Studio’s in Martinez CA with former Vile vocalist and producer Juan Urteaga. One song here has been re-recorded from their 1st demo ‘Crush and Kill’ which is the song “March of the Wicked”. All the rest are new songs that push Devastator to a new level. The vocals fit a lot better as they are harsher and angrier than before, and the production on this is outstanding! From the opening of the CD, to the end, you are definitely in for a beating! Every song on here is killer, so be sure to pick this one up or be deemed a poser forever! Added: May 4th 2009 Reviewer: Reaper Score: Related Link: Devastator Hits: 3 Language: english

Self-released (2008)
Sacramento’s Devastator began their thrash approach in the fall of 2001, albeit under a different moniker with guitarist/vocalist Tyler Satterlee and drummer Derek Bean. A year later they filled their lineup with bassist Pat Hamby. Through the years they’ve record a demo and a couple of EP’s, gained many gigs across northern California opening for local and national bills. "Burn The Beast" features a professional recording atmosphere with Juan Urteaga at Trident Studios, and this 5 song avalanche should pay dividends within the label community as well as accelerating their already growing fan base.
Imagine a raw Kreator meets Razor vocal bellow from Tyler while the riffs and rhythms alternate between early Megadeth/ Exodus and possibly the precise speed picking we love from Artillery or Heathen and that encapsulates Devastator’s style. I didn’t mind the "Peace Sells" meets "Killers" bass line that runs rampant through "The Devil’s Mark" or the lengthier instrumental openings which keep the time frames of these 5 songs around the 6-7 minute mark. Derek loves the lightning feet to punish against the guitar run mania throughout the opening title track- yet I enjoy the slower tribal bridge that gives crowds plenty to chant and slam to in the old school circle pit ways. Occasionally the repetitive/ simplistic lyrics in the choruses prove that Devastator could use some seasoning ("March Of the Wicked" the easiest example here).
Yes thrash is back. No Devastator isn’t hopping on the trend as an easy cash grab. Let’s hope the next recording is a full length supported by a worthy label that can get these guys on a whirlwind tour escapade.

Here's the Official Press Statement ragers! Northern California's arsenal of aggression, Devastator, release their new and anticipated CD, Burn the Beast. Produced by Juan Urteaga (Testament, Machine Head, Sadus) at Trident Sound, the 5-song EP marks the extremely active live band's most representative and best sounding disc to date as previous efforts just havn't lived up to the trio's sheer live firepower. Burn the Beast is the E.P. that we have been striving for the last three years. We think we really hit our mark with the help of Juan and have achieved quite the headbanging production on this one. The songs themselves are a representation of the history of our band as well as a snapshot of where we are headed as musicians at this moment in time," explains drummer Derek Bean. Crowd favorites like "March of the Wicked" and "Rise of the Undead" appear in revised and even heavier formats, while new material, such as "The Devil's Mark" and the title track, showcase the band's evolving sound as their own brand of lethal ferocity comes to light with lenghtier songs featuring more complexity. The new CD is now available directly from the band via www.myspace.com/devastatorblast, where some of the new songs can also be heard. As always the band will be playing shows all over the western US in support of the release and continuing to crush, kill and destroy while seeking a record contract with a larger label that will help them take things to the next level. Meanwhile, Juan Urteaga couldn't sum things up better when asked about working with the band, "Devastator are a tight three-piece unit. They play precision speed metal riffs that combine old-school thrash with a modern death metal feel. It reminded me of great bands such as Slayer, Exodus, and early Metallica. Though their influences shine through clearly, it is their originality and power that really stands out! The 5-song demo rips through you like a razor, as track after track takes you on a killing spree of metal mayhem and madness that will leave and die-hard thrash fan salivating for more."

We here in Devastator would like to say thanks to everyone that showed up to last Saturdays Baloff gig it was sick seeing everyone there, if the fucking pigs didn’t show up we would have raged with Hatchet! Happy late birthday Jeff, although we didn’t get to celebrate on stage, we have to make up for it dubbly hard next time! To those who still want to check out our show and bang your brains out of your skulls, we are working on some gigs in the next while down in the Bay Area/Sacramento, so watch out for those, and of course there’s not going to be a fucking rave with the cat people going on in the same venue this time!
***An extra special thanks to Joe and his 2 buds from Nebraska that attented, that was seriously amazing you guys drove all the way out to check out the thrash scene here in Cali. We are really bummed we couldn’t give you what you wanted because of straight up bullshit going down at the gig but we hope the merch made up for it at least a little and hopefully things didn’t turn out the same down in L.A.
