Sectas
Voices of the Damaged
By Dino Raecker, Pop Rocket Press.
July 2008

With a name like Sectas you might be expecting some black-death-metal-speedcore-thrash band with cookie monster vocals flying by at warp speed.

Thankfully, this in not the case. Voices of the Damaged starts with classic Black Sabbath-Metallica power chord riffage, soon followed by requisite double-bass drumming.

Vocals range from the southern swamp rock vein of Fireball Minisrty, to Rush balladry, to Alice in Chans, a heavy influence throughout.

Sectas is a power trio from Phoenix, who claim to have started playing at ages two to five, before forming at a house party.

Their first full-length album is a great house party music, provided your friends enjoy heavy metal. Mixing prog-rock with grunge and some great harmonies with soaring solos, Sectas is a welcome addition to any metalhead's collection.

Well, I just got back from Hermosillo, Mexico, The Reason for my trip was to spend some time with  my Mom and Family and of course to promote our newest recording called "Voices of the Damaged" Recorded and Directed by Will Ferraro from Eastide Mansion...The trip was AWESOME, a lot of unexpected things happen, the first day I had a radio Interview at an independent and very cultura radio over there called, Radio Bemba, as soon they mentioned I was there, the phones started ringing, and when I said that I would be giving cds aways, the lines got Saturated!! lol, I was supposed to give away 3 cds and the interview to last only 15 mins, and I ended up giving away 12 cds and being there live for 1 hour and a half. The next day I got a tv interview and late at night I was at Radio Sonora, that's a cultural commercial radio station, Who's Dj is Tiko Tapia, I just uploaded pics to a new album I just created. So, Overall, it was a nice trip, got to see some family and the best part, I met a bunch of new fans and they all love the new recording, the cd release party will be this Feb 16th, so we'll keep you updated with flyers and stuff, Its good to be back home in the US, thank you for reading this, and God bless...

   Hey Everyone!

All the Bass is finished as of this week after a couple of trips to the Eastside Mansion in Tempe, did 5 tracks on each day,
just went in directly to the board through a Line 6 Bass Pod xt and we got a mean nasty low sound to go with the phat-ass drums and make a solid fundation.

I must confess that the reason why I am so eager for this record to be finished is to fulfill the threat of going to bombard all of your ears wether is to our friends in Phx and everywhere else we have promised to go visit your local clubs and pubs granted they let us

Here are some pictures and video of the sessions...

> You know I get a lot of music from all over. And

9/1/05...Sectas CD Review - "From The Ashes"

Sectas's new EP "From the Ashes" is a well balanced serving of hard rock with a metal edge. The first track on the album entitled "This Time" opens with the guitar taking center stage. The array of sliding and high pitch guitar harmonies drew me into the song from the start. The song continues to build on the opening theme until the instrumentation takes a back seat to the powerful bridge section of the song. The vocals are performed with perfect melody to the music. From there vocalist/guitarist Christian Lee takes you to the end with his fiery lead guitar playing abilities. The final four tracks remain in the same vein as the first track. The CD packs enough metal for the metal heads but the overall moderate tempo of the songs will have appeal with fans of the hard rock crowd. The production of the disc is excellent, it has very good mix and contains very good sound quality on every track. Check out a track from this EP at their web site.
