Dear friends
Last blog, we ambitiously thought we might be gigging this month, however due to myself and Diego both having OS commitments, we have decided on November as being more realistic to unleash some of our new material.
In the meantime, we continue to record and rehearse. It's too bad we still have to work day jobs to keep us going, or things would be coming out quicker...
Good things come to those who wait.

Dear friends
It has taken some time, but I am very excited to announce our new 2009 line-up of Karmakult:
Rendall Wagner: Vox, flute, 12-string guitar, & baglama.
Paul Carruthers: A thousand drums & percussion, vox.
Tim Parsons: Bass, harmonium, tanpura, vox.
Damon Gardener: Percussion & sundry devices
Diego Ramirez: Blistering guitar
The band is sounding totally hot!
We are now in rehearsals for live gigs in August and continuing to record the new CD for release later this year. Though a date has not yet been set, I'm sure that our premiere performance will be well received. Damon joined us in February this year and you will have seen Damon at the previous 2009 gigs already, however we can't wait to initiate our newest members, Diego and Tim, into the group at our next live gig.
Those who saw our last few acoustic gigs this year think we were sounding better than ever - now we have Tim and Diego on board - prepare to be totally blown away!
If you have been following our line-up news you will have seen that there have been some tough shoes to fill. I personally think the band is stronger than ever and
I'm very humbled and excited about what we are doing in the studio and the new live show.
I think there will be a few surprises when we
get back on the stage!

Dear friends
I have just completed writing ¨Beneath the veil¨, this will now allow me to track guitars , flute and vocals for the demo. A demo is the incompleted recorded version that the band actually rehearses to, then play live or come into the studio later to record their parts. It was something I was hoping to complete just over a week ago, however I underestimated the complexity of the song and it took me longer. It..s an interesting piece, fusing a hard rock, blues-based riff with a Hungarian minor - you..ll love it!
As a composer, I now write music for personal growth and expression of my art, not for commercial gain. I have resigned myself to the fact that making a living from Karmakult is not possible in the music climate of today, so I write purely for the music and our niche audience, who love our music.
The new material is more complex, challenging and more musically satisfying for us. I have also written specifically for our ensemble of instruments, being very careful to be able to reproduce the sounds faithfully live. This restriction I have placed on my writing means that I am digging deeper to come up with very different combinations of sounds using musical techniques, rather than just using a new keyboard sound or another guitar.
I am loving the challenge, however I ask everyone to be patient as the wonderful new songs come to fruition. I think it will be worth the wait.
