LA Confidential...
Well, not so confidential, since we’re spilling in a blog. Felt like it took forever to get there...the drive across the desert was daunting, but the scenery was amazing. But when we finally reached L.A. we felt right at home: instantly surrounded by friends and even provided our own practice space and ’Lodge’ courtesy of the boys of The Daylights, who provided for us while they were away on tour with One Republic. Thanks brothas!
Our first night there, we were treated like kings! We met friends at the Snake Pit..very cozy and friendly despite the name. Then, James got a call from our friend Butch Walker, inviting us to come by the Chateau Marmont for drinks. The Marmont is incredibly charming, dating (if I had to guess) back to the early ’40s. We had a great time there sharing stories and trading songs with Butch...no hotel room is complete without a piano and a Hummingbird...and mingling with and/or in proximity of the likes of DangerMouse, Victoria Beckham, Chris Cooper, Matt Dillon and Lionel Ritchie. Thanks for the opportunity and moments we’ll never forget!
The show at the Tangier, our first in L.A., was brilliant..quite a hustle and bustle in a packed house...which was great both for us and the hosts, who were holding the event to benefit orphans in Uganda. (Thanks, Amy!) A small, warm and intimate room adorned with flowers, candles and plush red carpet, the Tangier served as the perfect living room atmosphere to get to know our new, beloved fans and friends. The set was short and and extra sweet, as we were joined on stage by our friend, Noah, who played pedal steel on ’Thin Colored Wall’, ’Voltage’, and ’The Fires’...adding the perfect, hauntingly beautiful ambience for a West Coast show.
There’s so much more to mention..more blogs to come and pics, and even video of live performances. Keep and eye on us!
Cheers,
the boys of RLA
