we're getting ready to re-emerge from the Lair of the Loons -- we're setting up some PNW shows and will be writing some brand-spankin'-new material as a pared-down duo. No telling what it will sound like!

Some of you may know the old BBC comedian Benny Hill, who always featured madcap music with his pratfall skits. Well, someone has gone ahead and set our "Monkey" video to some Bennie Hill music, and it's a hoot (be sure to adjust the speed rate so the video action resembles an old silent movie); You can view it at http://james.nerdiphythesoul.com/bennyhillifier/speedup.php?id=5XLlVD8O0Qk

We're starting to receive earnest requests for a formal Two Loons for Tea "fan club". Thanks folks, this tickles us pinkly! (e.g., makes us blush :). And if we set up a club, we'd want to make sure that members get priority-access to new songs, live recordings, studio-outtakes, free merch, whatever makes y'all happy...
So... if there were to be a name for a Two Loons for Tea community, what should it be?? There's some obvious choices, like:
Loonatics Looniacs Many Loons for Tea
but, we'd much rather hear from you with your ideas. Let's brainstorm... send in your ideas about name, services that host fan clubs, what works, what doesn't -- any insights at all as we are new to this fan club thing...

First official adventure of the Two Loons SXSW --> Seattle tour!
We drove through torrential early morning Texas-size thunderstorms to play a drive-time on-air on KLBJ FM... we brought guitar, voice, scones, Numi Tea, Belgian Cookies and Fig Jam; KLBJ provided two mics, three hilarious hosts, and a chance for us to play the first-ever recorded duo version of "Monkey" for all the Austin drivers cursing flooded roads and accidents on the route we had just driven to the studio. Special thanks to Andrea for making us feel right at home. Pictures coming soon...

Hello! Join us on Valentine's Day for a unique night of live music and experimental theater presented by Radio8Ball and Two Loons for Tea. Part musical cabaret, part mystical mind-expansion - and wholly enjoyable! The premise for the show is as simple as it is unique: a band, an audience, and the honest life-questions of audience members. Curious? Read on:Audience members are invited onstage to ask questions of the musical "oracle". The answer is elicited by the spinning of a carnival wheel, which selects one of the band's songs. The band plays the chosen song, and with the help of "Professor" Jones, the audience, and the musicians who wrote the song, discusses how the song's lyrics or message answer the question. The readings might be humorous or moving - sometimes both at once, or more - but surprisingly, never irrelevant. This version of Radio8Ball is especially fascinating as the guest band itself uses such oracular methods to write their lyrics. So, expect the unexpected! Date: Thr Feb 14 Place: Capitol Hill Arts Center (12th & Pine) Time: Cocktail Party 6 pm, Show 8 pm, After Party 10 pm Ages: Show is All Ages; Bar is 21+ Cheers! As those who know me well know, I make up some really really bd jokes. I have been urged to share, so here we go w/ today's.
The Visiting Pills (the punch line works best spoken aloud)
Q: You're home and there's a knock at the door. Your friend opens the door and tells you there are three giant pills named "A", "B12", and "C". Your friend asks, "What should I do???"
A. You of course respond, "Invite 'em in!!"

A few random but telling observations from shopping for food tonight in a mid-range grocery store:
$4.99 for a "Personal Canteloupe" (I passed) $3.99 for a half gallon of milk (I passed)
$2.49 for a small can of chicken soup, but $4.49 for the exact same soup with "50% less sodium" (I passed on both, and instead bought some chicken legs and vegetables to make my own low sodium soup).
Finally, nowhere to be found were the 5, 10, 20 lb. bags of onions / potatos / carrots that used to be a sensible way to shop. Instead, individual onions, potatos and carrots at $1.50-$3.00 / lb.!
Overall, pay a lot more for a lot less!
I of course fully recognize that the dollar has devalued considerably in the past six years, and also that the price of oil is built in to every calorie that we buy. But also, a lot of the increase of prices for what we buy has to do with OUR preferrences for convenience (e.g., packaged pre-cut veggies, individual spuds instead of big bags, canned soup instead of a big pot of homemade, etc...).
No profound observations here, but I thought I'd share the story behind my dinner tonight with you.
Does the above have any relevance beyond the realm of food?
Hmmmm...

If you live in Brooklyn, you might be seeing our t-shirts on the most unexpected persons... let us us know if you have any sightings!
Here's the scoop:
When we were loading gear for a show in NYC in Dec., someone walked off with a box that contained dozens of Two Loons f-shirts (and some musical equipment).
It happened in an instant! (someone with slick sneakers, obviously). We of course will be filing an insurance claim for the musical gear, but figure that the stolen t-shirts are now being worn by unintentional and unknowing bipedal billboards! So we'll just write that off as a promotional cost.
