[adlifelock]Now, don't get too excited here, yes, we are returning to video, however, we will not go straight video again (probably ever, eh?). We will simulcast each Friday Night Show on Talkshoe and Stickam so that we can keep an eye on the live, streaming video and watch it catch up with today's demanding audience.Another reason for this return is that the stats for my live page at http://ping.fm/7J7gu has been climbing steadily since we left producing our videos each week. This tells me that there is some demand for us to still do video as the numbers don't lie!I have chosen Stickam as my live, streaming server, since it had the best video quality overall. Beginning this Friday Night, October 10th, 2008, I will be back on audio and video at the same time. Now, if the video fails, that's ok, as I expect it to not be much better as when I left it a couple of months back. However, as the services come up to speed, I will be able to tell this and will then begin to promote the video again and go back to doing more video productions as part of my show.Any way, we'll see how this goes. Also, in a couple of weeks, I will be doing a topic based on using video as a platform, so this will help me to research a little for that and to update me on what has changed.I have changed the live page to add the live audio feed as well as the live video feed so you can easily get the show no matter which platform you want to use!"See" you on Friday night! [adskype]This is a question that some people should really ask themselves. What is an accidental spammer, you ask? Well, you already know what a spammer is, right? Someone who plagues you with e-mails, faxes, voicemails, etc. to do something, try something or buy something and usually, let's face it, you just aren't that interested in what they are selling right? An accidental spammer is someone who, has their heart in the right place, but fails to realize that they are spamming you with requests through Twitter, Skype, IM, or e-mail and they just don't let up! These accidental spammers don't realize that the approach they are taking with you, is spamming, but in reality, it is.You can try to ignore these requests, turn off your Skype, IM, Twitter app, etc. but then, you are taking the chance of alienating people that you actually want to hear from! What can be done about accidental spammers then. Not much, unless you want to take the time to address each and every one that come through, but then, you might just be enabling them to feel like they can contact you that way from now on.By the way, this post was prompted by an accidental spammer (in case you haven't figured that out by now). Bottom line, instead of becoming an accidental spammer, when someone doesn't respond back to you right away addressing your request, take the hint and move on. The person you are trying to get their attention might just have other things going on that prevents them from addressing you right now. If the interest is there, be assured, they will respond eventually.Comments to this post are welcome. Try not to spam me though, ok? :) ( continue reading &aquo;)

[adgotomypc]On our next episode of Podcaster Training, we will be discussing ways to start your own eZine or Newsletter and an exercise in list building. As many of you know who follow the show, most of my topics come from you, the listener, and this is one of those questions that came about during a previous discussion.Building an opt-in list is not important to all niches, however, sometimes, a good list can be a great source of additional revenue to your web site, blog or podcast. Also, having a good list gives you a way to keep in constant contact with loyal readers and listeners, without having to maintain a separate address book with those you think might be interested. Before you can have a good list, you must have an autoresponder service or script that will be able to get you going in the right direction. Aweber is the most recognized autoresponder service going right now. Yes, there are others, but Aweber is probably the most widely used of these services and they have been around for more than 10 years, so that says something too! There are a number of scripts that you can run from your web site or blog (as long as you have your own server and domain, that is) and many of these scripts will have the same functionality of Aweber or the other services. The main difference is, you pay for the script once and with Aweber and other services, there is a monthly fee applied to utilize the service. We'll talk more on Friday about starting an eZine, an electronic magazine or newsletter and how these relate to list building. Until then, see you on Friday! ( continue reading &aquo;)

[adgotomypc]Microblogging platforms such as Twitter, Plurk, Pownce, Friendfeed and others give you a way to send a message to friends, family and even business associates and clients usually with a 140 character limit on the message. To a few thousand loyal users, using this type of platform is an everyday occurrence, but to most users of the Internet today, they have no idea what these platforms are or how to use them. Our discussion will focus on Twitter who is pretty much the forerunner in this field of microblogging. In fact, Twitter has almost become an Instant Messenger of sorts, thanks to the Direct Message feature that allows users to send private messages to other users, instantly. The replies feature allows a user to send a reply aimed at another user simply by inserting the @username within the message itself. Unlike the Direct Message feature, replies can be seen by the public timeline.Along with the main Twitter application site, has bred a number of other "Twitter Applications" that support and utilize the main site features. For example, for Wordpress users, there are a number of plugins such as Twitter Tools, that allow you to not only post your latest tweets on your blog, but also to send tweets to your Twitter account instantly when you make a blog post. Tweetburner is a site that came along that allows a Twitter user to track URLS that are sent using their shortening service. Of course, Twitter uses .. to automatically shorten long or lengthy URLS that you post allowing you to stay within the 140 character limit easier, but no tracking like Tweetburner has. With so many microblogging platforms out there now, along came Ping.fm, a service that allows you to send tweets to not only Twitter, but almost 20 other services, simultaneously. There is an associated Wordpress plugin called pingPressFm that will work like Twitter Tools (mentioned above) that will post your tweets automatically to Ping.fm when you make a blog post. Now, Twitter started as a way for friends and family to know "what you are doing" right now, instead of e-mailing them or using another instant message service. This quickly became a way for businesses to contact potential customers and current clients and "keep them up to date" with their latest products and services. Of course, with anything good, has to have a few bad apples. With all of this new found messaging strength for business, came spam. Not just a little, but lots! Enough that Twitter had to go through and clean house and create a Twitter Spammer type feature that allows Twitter users to let Twitter know who is doing the spamming so that the spammer accounts can be suspended or removed. One great feature that Twitter has is the ability to follow one or more users and see what they are doing. You can use the Twitter web site for this or there are a lot of Twitter Apps like TweetDeck, Twirl, and others that will give you a desktop app view of your Twitter Account Timeline. For everyone that you follow, when they send a tweet, the Twitter App will show it on your desktop app. For example, I use TweetDeck, so I can see what the almost 200 people I follow are saying and doing, round the clock! I can also Direct Message (DM) someone or reply to a tweet and even send out a tweet, right from my desktop. A desktop app isn't for everyone, but if you want to keep up with your timeline, it is a simple and easy way to do this.Listen to this great podcast in the player below! ( continue reading &aquo;)

[adskype]What...too hard? Too easy? Too silly? Of course, what I am referring to is the New Challenge that just started a couple of weeks ago on The Podcaster Training Show. Now, I admit, the first challenge was a bit easy, I mean, having to leave a comment about what you liked best about Jason Van Orden's discussion that night? Ok, a little too easy, yes, but still, no one even tried! Then, last week's challenge, a little harder, get a sponsor, clickable ad or an advertiser for your blog, web site or podcast and then leave a comment AND tweet me at @robwhiteus with the location of the ad. A lot of work? Maybe, but still, no one has entered the challenge!Don't get the wrong idea here, I'm still going to present a challenge each week. These challenges, even I do to challenge myself and I don't even get the reward of the free software I am giving away each week! You do though! So, even if you do the challenge, but don't report it, at least let me know so that I can reward you with the free software. You might as well get the best of the deal for your efforts!Oh, and if you have an idea for a challenge or just want to help me to improve the challenges, please don't hesitate to let me know! [adgotomypc]This is a subject that is talked about quite often in the New Media World and we are going to go over a few ways that you can monetize or make a little money with your blog or podcast. This discussion is by no means a complete list. I will cover some highlights that will enable you to have a starting point to your monetization. Now, there are many ways to monetize, such as advertising, sponsorships, donations and affiliate programs. The easiest of these aforementioned methods is donations. You don't have to do much of anything except to put a Donation Button on your blog or web site and if someone is inclined to help you out, they can easily click this and give you some money! Sounds easy, right?Setting up a Donation Button will require you to have a merchant account (to accept credit cards) or a PayPal Account. There are other "PayPal type" places around that may offer this feature as well. Make sure to place your Donation Button in a prominent place so that it can be seen (and hopefully used) and then make sure to tell your listeners (of your show or podcast) or readers of your blog, that this button is there and then ASK them to make a donation! That's all you need to do for this type of monetization structure. The next type of monetization is sponsorships. These are a little harder to obtain, but well worth getting. To get a sponsor for your blog or podcast, you will need to approach several companies that you would like to "push their wares" in exchange for an advertising spot on your blog or podcast. There are places that will help you get sponsorships, such as BluBrry, a Rawvoice Company, that you can signup with, it's free to do this, fill out an advertising survey and complete their requirements and then they will match you with advertisers (sometimes more than one) that you can place on your sites, blogs and use as host read ads in your podcasts. One such example of this is the GoToMyPC ad I read at the beginning of every show and have a banner ad on my blog for. Of course, once you get a sponsor, it is important that you do your part by reading the ad and/or placing the advertising your site or blog to insure that you will get paid!Speaking of advertising, our next structure is actually two fold. Advertising can be from businesses or companies that you approach and signup with yourself or you can sign up with an affiliate program and place ads from different companies easily on your sites or blogs and use these advertisers as possible sponsors of your podcasts. You can go to places like Commission Junction, ShareASale or LinkShare to signup for a free affiliate account and start placing ads today! Affiliate sales usually get you anywhere from 5 to 75 percent commission on each sale. This is also an easy way to place ads for companies you like to shop with on your sites or blogs too.The last way we will discuss in our monetization structure is selling your own product or service. You may be involved in a Network Marketing or MLM company and have such a product or service already, or you may have developed an eBook or piece of software that you can sell, however, which ever case it is, you can begin to use this as a sponsor of your podcast and run your own ads on your site or blog and you would have a built in sponsor. Now, keep in mind when doing this method, that you keep within the guidelines of the MLM company for advertising their products and services in this fashion. Some MLM companies do not like Web 2.0 strategies and may drop you as a representative, so be sure to double check with your MLM company before doing this.If the product or service is your own, meaning you own the copyright, rights, etc. then by all means, this is a great method to promoting your product and your self! Here's one more idea that isn't real popular, however, it does work for most people. Joint Ventures or JV Affiliate Opportunities, are a way to make commissions by selling someone else's products on your site or blog. In most cases, you can even sell them on your podcast as a sponsored deal and direct them to your site or blog to click on the affiliate link (so you will make the commission and not someone else!). You can find JV opportunities in most eBook and software sales. Sometimes these opportunities are presented as Master Resell Rights or Resell Rights and you buy the product one time and have the opportunity to resell it as many times as you like and keep 100% of the sales as your commission. There are lots of these type of eBooks and software out there and you can find more than 200 products right now at The Personal Publisher for only $2.00 each! That's a small price to pay to be able to resell these products for whatever price you like!Concluding this topic, I know that there are plenty of other ways to monetize your blogs and podcasts. I have only presented just a few to get you started. If you would like to leave a comment to this post with other ways that you know of, I know my readers and listeners would like to hear from you!
