So... this is what it's like to blog. it's really not as exciting as MSNBC would have you believe. But I digress from the more pressing issue that has caused me to tap away at the keys...

If you've read my bio - you already know that my best friend passed away 4 years ago. Actually 4 years ago to the moment i'm writing. Since then some friends established a foundation in memory of Ken Carlson, Jr.

He had always talked about starting an elementary school where there would be a strong emphasis on music and the arts, as these programs continue to get cut from many curriculums. Being a musician himself, he understood the impact that the arts can have on learning and development.

In order to keep his vision alive, the Ken Carlson, Jr. Memorial Foundation was established. In its three year existence, the foundation has had the opportunity to award several scholarships to high school and college students pursuing a degree in the arts. We are working to expand the foundation's influence to local schools, where we would like to also provide musical instruments to underpriveleged children.

To date, there has only been one annual fundraiser; a golf tournament held in New Jersey. While it has been highly successful, Ken's wife Michelle wanted to hold some events on the West coast for those who want to participate.

And so - here is the first of those:

On Friday, August 25th, the world famous Comedy Store will be the location of the first of the West coast fundraising events! The show will be taking place in the Main Room at 7:30PM. I'll be opening the night performing a set of music... and the remainder will feature extraordinary talent from Mad TV, Last Comic Standing, E! Network, Comedy Central and the Tonight Show!

I hope anyone here in Southern California will come out and be a part of the night. Thanks for your support.
