Howdy people, hope you are all well.

It's a pretty sad day to be writing this message to you all, as I let you all know that our band has called it a day.

This is something that we've been planning since the beginning of the year and it was my call.  I've just recently become a married man and I'm going to move to the Gold Coast to start a new life and escape the shithole that is called Sydney.

I'm really excited to move on in my life and all of us in the band are happy to end it at this point and are going to continue to be the greatest of friends.

Personally I've spent 8 years doing this band and it's been an absolute shit load of fun.  Words can't begin to express how much I am grateful to every person that's come out to see us play, played in a band on a bill with us or even just taken the time to check out our stuff on the net.  We took this baby a lot further than we thought we could take it and have been really lucky.  Thankyou everyone for being a part of this band, you will always be my bitches.

We have one final show to play and we want to go out with a bang.  We purposely made sure it was at a venue with no door charge so if you can make it we'd really love for you all to join us this Friday night at the Lansdowne Hotel in Sydney to help us say goodbye.  We'll be giving away all the remaining cds in our treasure chest and we've even dug up previously broken up band Kernundrum to get them to play one more time to really make it a special night.  Also, we'll be joined on tbe bill by Newcastle's finest in Local Resident Failure, so in total it's three shitty punk bands for the price of none, the best deal in Sydney.

We'll be posting a whole bunch of mp3's to download on the page in the next coming days so keep your eye out for those.

Love you long time

WARNING: Not safe for work.  Like, not at all. :)

For those of you who have our CD Music To Make Love To Vol 2, or have recently downloaded our new online cd MYSPACEINVADERS, you'll recognise Simmo as being that loud mouthed Druitt dweller who has made cameo appearances on speaking tracks on both recordings.

Now after winning a karaoke contest, Simmo has recorded his own CD and its online for your amusement.  Check it out:

Hey kiddies,

Az here.  I've been overseas the past few weeks, and now I'm back and we're ready to roll.  Thought I'd write in with a few updates about the band.

The first biggest piece of news is that we've expanded our band to 4 members with the addition of Brendan Cook on 2nd guitars and BVox.  Cook's just started jamming with us and he'll be ready to go for our next show in late August...

...speaking of which, that show will be on Friday 22nd August @ The Excelsior Hotel in Surry Hills (Sydney).  The show will be a celebration of Belinda Carlisle's birthday, who will be turning a whopping 50 years old.  We'll be joined onstage by Major Keg, Epic Flagon from Canberra and a band from Sydney that we've yet to see perform before called Estah.  Doors open at 8pm and entry is $10 - although if you come to the show dressed as Belinda Carlisle, you'll get in for free.  That's a promise.  Look forward to catching up with you cross dressing fucks then.

As the subject also indicates, we'll be (finally) launching our very much delayed new CD next week on Monday 4th August.  Initially this cd was to be launched in December, right in time for Christmas, but then that whole collapsed lung business happened to me and I've had to take it easy through the first half of this year.

Up until now we haven't announced any details about the cd, so here we go:

The cd will be called "MYSPACEINVADERS" and will be a little pile of stuff we've gathered over the past few years, including three new studio tracks, including past songs from our setlist such as "Punk Rock Pirate" and the cover of The Bangles' "Walk Like An Egyptian".

We're looking forward to getting that to you all, so be here on MySpace on Monday, as we'll be launching the CD online as a FREE DOWNLOAD.  And for those who are bandwidth-challenged, we'll have copies of the CD on burnt discs at the show at the Excelsior to give away for free.

There's heaps more stuff going on in the background, including a new film clip which is in its early stages, and the impending release of a live album in October, but we'll save the details about that stuff for another day.  Keep your ears to the ground, we'll be in touch again real soon.

Cheers big ears

Hey all,

We'll be playing our first shows of the year next month and it'd be great to see you there.  We've got some new songs to play and giveaways planned for both shows as well.

They are both free shows which makes them kind to the wallet and maximises your boozing opportunities.

Friday 6th June - The Lansdowne Hotel in Broadway w/ Sniperival and CDATR - we're on first at 10pm

Thursday 19th June - The Bull n Bush Hotel in Baulkham Hills w/ Lamexcuse and CDATR - we're on first at 9pm

YEAH BOI

With love from the Johnnies

Howdy all, Az here.

As the subject suggests, now that we’re back together playing after our extended layoff we’ve decided to take the plunge of adding a 4th band member in the form of a 2nd guitarist with backing/lead vocal ability.  If you think you’d be interested or know someone who’d be interested in the spot then read on...

We’re not the kind of band that expects each member to be the best at what they do - hell, I’m a self taught bass player even - so you don’t have to be a guitar solo champion or anything.  In fact, with Reed there already it could well be that our 2nd guitarist might be more of a power chord/octive chord/occasional dickaround on the thinner strings sort of person... who knows. This leads to the next point...

We’re pretty keen on getting someone who can sing well, so that we can look at some two vocal stuff and perhaps even hand over some lead vocal from time to time, depending on the song.  There’s no rockstars in our band so if you’re a guy who might wanna sing the occasional song yourself or whatever then we’re all ears for suggestions.

Finally, we want someone who has a good personality.  Not only do we want to get someone who is fun to be in a band with but will be fun for the audience to hear talk shit and watch play onstage.  That’s what our band is all about.

I guess it’s also worth mentioning if you didn’t know already that we swear a lot and are generally offensive, so if you don’t like that stuff or have a girlfriend who would chastise you for being in a band like ours then maybe you’ll wanna listen to a few of our mp3s on the myspace page and double check first before making contact.

Also, if you’re the song writing type and have your own ideas, you’re most welcome to get in touch as well.  We’re happy to hear other people’s ideas so don’t be shy to speak up.

There’s no age requirement and we don’t care what your background is or how trendy or not you are, just be sure you have a good sense of humour.

So if you think you’ve got what it takes then write a message back to us here on Myspace or send me an email to aaron@mynameisjohn.com and tell us about yourself.  We can get in touch with you and tell you more about the spot then.

Look forward to your responses!

Rock out

Hey hey its Aaron here, I've been in hospital for just under a week now and the amount of messages that myself and the band have been receivng has been just astounding. Thank you so much to you all who put in your concern it really means a lot to me... Just to give you all the latest: I had successful surgery tuesday morning... I have a few new scars to add to the collection which isn't so cool but each insision was done via keyhole surgery (there are three of them) so its not that bad in that regard. The surgeons used a thick powder to saturate the lung, clogging any possible holes/weaknesses so that that doesn't happen again, whilst also turning into a sticky surface so that when the lung was reinflated, the surface of the lung would stick against the ribcage permanently, also preventing further collapse. One of the side effects of the powder is a fever so I've been dealing with that over the past few days but overall I'm feeling really positive about the op and the results of it. I've been fortunate enough to not really have to suffer much painwise as well so overall everything has been positive. We'll be releasing a (not so much) traditional christmas song any day now called "I Saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus" so keep an eye out for that. Speak soon A from MNIJ

Hey people, its Az here coming to you direct from the jaws of death and pain that is otherwise known as hospital. So in all my bad luck, my right lung has collapsed again. As a result, I'm going to have to have bigger surgery this time than the one I had last time for the same problem, which will not only fix the problem but prevent it from happening again. I hope anyway. :) Onto the real painful part, which is that I'll be a write off for all of Dec and Jan as a result which means that our band is gonna have to pull out of all the shows we were planning to do over the next couple of months. The particularly frustrating part is the fact that we feel we have a really excellent CD, our Music To Make Love To Vol 2 CD, which we've just been robbed of the opportunity to get out on the road and get to you all. Twice. Furthermore, Reed and Peg's other bands, Snakes Amoung Us and Chris Duke And The Royals respectively, are due to get back into the full swing of things through Feb and March next year, which conceivably means that it could be quite a while before MNIJ takes the stage again.. perhaps as late as April/May next year. That's gonna be pretty tough to stomach and I'm sure you can imagine that this just wasn't happening, but there's just nothing I can do about it. I'm particularly disappointed to be missing Nick the Ginger Ninja's bday bash in Canberra (I'll call you on your bday dude) which is gonna be huge, and to miss our Xmas show in which we were going to announce a new cd that we recorded just a few weeks ago. We were going to stick all the songs from it up on the net for free as an online only release as a little Xmas present for all which we'll still do, but it'll have to wait until the new year as we weren't quite finished yet. This is a pretty shitty way to end the year and it sucks to think that that's it for us for 2007 already, but I do still have fond memories of this year, such as our interstate tour with Major Keg in Jan that saw us go through VIC, SA, NSW and ACT, and our Go Crazy Festival show at The Annandale Hotel which we had a few hundred people at and hosted a whole bunch of our favourite bands from the local scene and beyond. I love you all, merry xmas and happy new year to you all, and I look forward to getting back on that damn stage at some point in front of you all once again and doing what love most. Being a dirty cunt. Take care and see you all soon Love Az from MNIJ
