Peace & Love.
For nearly fifteen years now, I've bounced through this burg from one end to the other, chasing that guitar around. I've been all over the country, too, doing the hillbilly shuffle from coast to coast.
I've seen a lot of changes in the music scene, both locally and globally, and in the ways we get our music to the people. I've met and said goodbye to thousands, played solo and with various combinations in great halls and smoky converted house trailers.
One constant in all this has been Teddy Larkin, from Medfield, Mass., an easy walkin', trash talkin', cool cat if there was ever one. We've served the Muse together over many miles and many great...great nights. He's been kind enough to share his bountiful talents with me with minimal recompense for a long time; I've been onstage with his eminence for longer and more times than with any other person in my history. Everyone knows how marvelous a drummer he is -- no unnecessary trappings, no bullshit, just the deepest groove possible so the listener can get lost in it. Hypnotized.
He's a world-class songwriter and performer -- tunes like Girls of Rock & Roll, The Storm, Hazel Eyes, Comfortable Dysfunctional Family, Old Farts, and his own band, Scary Wagon, have warmed hearts and provoked thought around here for a long time. He's straight up and honest, funny as hell and twice as quick, brave and strong, and possessed of a great capacity for love. He's disagreed strongly with me when he felt I was making mistakes, and I was. He's played my songs for nothing but the glory many a night, made damn near every rehearsal over seven years and never...NEVER missed a gig he agreed to do. He's patrolled the streets of Waycross with me and shown me his beautiful New England. He is, was, and will always be, the heart and soul of The Faders.
And now he is leaving town, taking advantage of an opportunity too good to refuse. He, his lovely wife Jill, and little Robbie will be off to Saratoga, NY this weekend. And there's a whole lot of folks that'll miss them. We'll see them some, for sure, but not like when could run by the Stammer on an afternoon and pick a few tunes.
God bless you, my friend, my brother. You deserve all the good things life can bring. And thank you, as well. Vaya con dios, Boston Wrangler. Peace & Love. This joint won't be the same.

E Pluribus Onion,
E Platypus Union? Any who, out of many...many, we're sure you'll find one of your favorites here in town this week. Two of ours are Sam Baker and Jason Eady and they'll both be in the same place Wednesday night.
You can catch us performing again on Saturday, November 3rd at that most marvelous venue, Norm's River Roadhouse out near the county line. We'll commence at 9 PM with Americana artist (and former Nashvillian) Tom Roznowski doing a couple of tunes, then we'll bring on Country star Kenan Boyle to show you that all the good ones ain't dead, and finally Yours Who? - ly and that crack ensemble, Po Daddy, will assume the stage, we assume. Come hear us and give us money.
Next week, we're off (we're off a little every week) for the sugary sands of the AL/FL Gulf Coast for the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival -- 10 days of songwriters doing what they do, and you know what that means, don't you, cousins? We knew that you did.
Just got back from traveling to southern Indiana with the most high and undeniable King of Money, Mark Robinson -- did a couple shows with Bloomington's own, The Kookamongas, a badass outfit if there ever was one. We had all the lovely ladies doing the hip shake and the men were throwing babies. Thanks to everyone up there, especially the divine Rex Miller, for making us feel welcome.
Well, that's plenty. Hope to see y'all out sometime. Give us the Nashville handshake; it's the American(a) way.

Hey, this ain't Pismo Beach...
Well, now that it's getting to be syrup-making weather, we're getting busy as rats around a greasetrap over here at the Ranger Station, our sanctum sanctimonium nestled in a hidden valley out near the water tower. We're set to do some traveling, some picking and singing, and adding to ever-growing collection of Hee Haw action figures. We finally found that Gaillard Sartain we've been looking for; now if we can just locate the lifesize Gunilla Hutton.
Us boys'll be at the Brown's Diner and Ballroom this Tuesday night at 8. Join us for some foot-stomping and breakdancing in the elegant, spacious confines. It's free to hear us play; to hear us rehearse...you couldn't afford that. We'll spend the rest of the week up in Hoosierland with the King of Money -- Mark Robinson, stomping around his old grounds and playing some paying gigs, if you can believe that.
Go to myspace.com/davisraines and check that out. Maybe we can keep the schedule current for you. Also, we'll have the new CD, Going To Montgomery, available at cdbaby.com as soon as UPS gets the product there. Tell your friends and enemies.
Shout-outs to our friend Billy Block, who's doing cool things with The Billy Block Show down at Cadillac Ranch on Broadway and on WKDF-FM, to Sue Havlish, to Tricia Walker, who's about to release her new CD, Velvet, next week.
Come see us when you can. You've got nothing Monday to do on a better night.
