Well, now.......here's something I never knew before, and now that I know it, I feel compelled to send it on to my more intelligent friends in the hope that they, too, will feel edified. Isn't history more fun when you know something about it?
Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting in the future. This famous English longbow was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as 'plucking the yew' (or 'pluck yew').
Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying, See, we can still pluck yew! Since 'pluck yew' is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodentals fricative F', and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute! It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as 'giving the bird.'
IT IS STILL AN APPROPRIATE SALUTE TO THE FRENCH TODAY!
And yew thought yew knew every plucking thing ...

You wired me awake And hit me with a hand of broken nails You tied my lead and pulled my chain To watch my blood begin to boil
But I'm gonna break I'm gonna break my I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
Too cold to start a fire I'm burning diesel, burning dinosaur bones I'll take the river down to still water And ride a pack of dogs
I'm gonna break
I'm gonna break my I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
Hits like a Phillips head Into my brain It's gonna be too dark To sleep again Cutting my teeth on bars And rusty chains, I'm gonna break my Rusty cage and run
When the forest burns Along the road
Like God's eyes In my headlights When the dogs are looking For their bones
And it's raining ice picks ON shore
I'm gonna break I'm gonna break my I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run Redemption
From the hands it came down From the side it came down From the feet it came down And ran to the ground Between heaven and hell A teardrop fell
In the deep crimson dew The tree of life grew
And the blood gave life To the branches of the tree And the blood was the price That set the captives free And the numbers that came Through the fire and the flood Clung to the tree And were redeemed by the blood
From the tree streamed a light That started the fight 'Round the tree grew a vine On whose fruit I could dine My old friend Lucifer came
Fought to keep me in chains But I saw through the tricks Of six-sixty-six
And the blood gave life To the branches of the tree And the blood was the price That set the captives free And the numbers that came Through the fire and the flood Clung to the tree And were redeemed by the blood
From his hands it came down From his side it came down From his feet it came down And ran to the ground And a small inner voice said
You do have a choice
The vine engrafted me And I clung to the tree

Oh, archer with your bowstring tight Won't you let fly with your shaft of light Are you hunting your quarry now Are you leaving me babe, leaving anyhow But I will remember you when the rain pours down And I see you standing there in your bright blue gown Fyodor's there, still he doesn't care You're gone
Tell me you don't want to travel To go back amidst the noise and babble But you hear me when I tell you that You know it won't be so long babe You know you're coming back And I'll wait right here till the sky is clear And I'll keep looking into that endless sphere And then you're gonna know There really wasn't nothing to fear
So don't cry baby in the dark of night When you know I ain't there to hold you tight And I can't answer any of your questing glances Like when we woke up in the morning
And we saw the dawn was storming And the clouds were there love Outside the window so fair And the sun came rising It was surprising Cast out all your dark surmising And then the car came You spoke my name And left me
But I'm not alone on this earth so fair There's something else beside me here Something keeps me ever looking forward And it's brighter than the sunlight And it's purer than the moonlight And it's drawing me toward it Like a moth out of the night And I know I'll arrive Where there ain't no time Non-dimensional plane of joy sublime Keep on being free Lord it's gotta be Infinity Hey!

Neil Young "Words" (Between The Lines Of Age)
Someone and someone were down by the pond Looking for something to plant in the lawn. Out in the fields they were turning the soil I'm sitting here hoping this water will boil When I look through the windows and out on the road They're bringing me presents and saying hello.
Singing words, words between the lines of age. Words, words between the lines of age.
If I was a junkman selling you cars, Washing your windows and shining your stars, Thinking your mind was my own in a dream What would you wonder and how would it seem? Living in castles a bit at a time The King started laughing and talking in rhyme.

After The Goldrush
Well, I dreamed I saw the knights In armor coming, Saying something about a queen. There were peasants singing and Drummers drumming And the archer split the tree. There was a fanfare blowing To the sun That was floating on the breeze. Look at Mother Nature on the run In the nineteen seventies. Look at Mother Nature on the run In the nineteen seventies.
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high. I was thinking about what a Friend had said I was hoping it was a lie. Thinking about what a Friend had said I was hoping it was a lie.
Well, I dreamed I saw the silver Space ships flying In the yellow haze of the sun, There were children crying And colors flying All around the chosen ones. All in a dream, all in a dream The loading had begun. They were flying Mother Nature's Silver seed to a new home in the sun. Flying Mother Nature's Silver seed to a new home.

October Come Again
This dream one day happened Inside it came as this, The memory still lingers, Octobers fleeting kiss.
Tuck deeply under downing In memory so red, As dawning in the sun glow, With recall in my head.
Shake off the chill I rise again, Come, load my stove with wood, How long 'till days of dawning Octobers golden good.
Years of replication, Seasons, cycles, times go by, When short-lived you are with me, And my dreams fill with rhyme.
Touching anticipation Well in Septembers bound, The turning of the season, Again is coming 'round.
Embracing, hold on to it, October come again, In crowning of falls glory, When life is still within.
Its sparkle of forever, Holds me at peace within, As I reach to see the glory, October come again.
So here's the sum told story, How it came to me, In crowning of his glory, Short-lived eternity.
October, sweet October, Have you deserted me?
October in the mountain, Rustic blue, subtle hue. In splendor of the changing, Collecting with the dew. Bounty in the harvesting, This memory of you.
The rushing of the chilling breeze, The standing of the elm, To hear the owl calling, Beneath the harvest moon. The fragrant smell of spices, Which lingers into spring, The quieting of the songbird, A'waiting her to sing.
Deserted into pumpkin… Deserted into blue… Deserted into feeling… Deserted far from view… October…I lost you.
Yet, dazzling stands the maple, With groaning bends the oak, The scurry of the fox squirrel, Around the Hickory Folk.
The fragrant smell of spices, Linger in a dream, And shining of the sunbeam As angles new and strange, The touching of its sun-ray, So few do ascertain.
Held in caress against dream forest floor, Hiding in my heart again, Amid fern, forevermore. Its special touch now disappears, Short-lived eternity, Yet nothing takes away, Octobers glow for me.
Take away its bounty, Fill its every use, You can't out use the memory, Its deserted scent of you.
October, sweet October, All golden shining hue, You've stayed with me through everything, I can't desert you.

.As anyone who reads this {RealDealsToChangeLives.blogspot.com} blog knows, it's about helping others with online marketing. Whatever I find that's beneficial, I post. I've removed some things because technology has moved past these tools, or they turned out to be something I found useless for marketing or business. And I'm ever looking for solutions that are not on the beaten path necessarily. I don't have to tell you about Internet phones, or automated email. You can simply find those kinds of things anywhere online.
No, I'm after something else. Perhaps you could say I'm after the personal touch. The hope that what I share makes a difference. And today I want to vent some frustration. By doing this, perhaps you will understand how strongly I feel about helping people change their lives.
The Internet is synonymous with cutting edge technology, and that's how the big corporations are approaching the traffic led to their sites. And, encouraging every marketer on the planet to do the same. Whether with Adwords, SEO's, automated email, instant communication tools (I suppose so you can hurry up and answer a question, get a sign up, and move on to the next customer), or whatever form of reaching the most people the fastest, in the furtherest reaches of the universe. Yep, the big companies are all for the newest ways to make a buck, faster and faster. It feels like we're running in place in front of our computers. I envision the gofers with lasers on their rollers blades now days. And the clamor for attention is rising to a dull din.
Who are these "big" companies spurning on this faster and faster, better and better ways and means to generate a buck? They're the same ones that thirty years ago were the young lions of their day… the revolutionary, the visionary, the flower power people who didn't dig the commercialization or the Greening of America. The same who have forged ahead and changed with the seasons, because after all, the times they are a changing… Indeed. Changing for what? Into what? Pretty soon we will have robots doing all our business for us. I suppose that will mean we can move even faster into other forms of generating leads.
Then there's the Mentor movement happening out there again. They have The Best Arrangement. The Best Business. The Most to offer…so you too can become an instant millionaire (while making them instant billionaires). Assistance is wonderful. But these mentors so called are alleging that they and they alone have the answers. If you do exactly what they say and how they say it you too will be successful like them. It looks like good old fashioned brain washing to me. And this kind of thinking goes to the philosophy that people are stupid. I myself think people are smart. And they are darn well smart enough to think for themselves.
I can't help being cynical. I think how far and how fast we have moved, and how truly disconnected we have become. Disconnected should be the mantra today. Not make the customer happy. Not work hard to earn your cash. Not give back to help the greater good of our society. No, it's moving faster – that disconnected mantra of get more, get it faster, and get by whatever means you can get it. It's: Hurry~! Hurry~! Hurry~! And if you can, do it through your voice mail, fax, Skype conversation, automated conference (pre-recorded) the better, or whatever technological miracle machine you can use to get the business..
All these things are great to use. They're fun and interesting. And demonstrate the times in which we live. That's good, really. But, what about making a friend or two? How about a trusted partner? Are there really organizations out there that want to help marketing business professionals succeed while using the personal touch? Do we have any patience anymore? Can we see something through to the end and be happy we worked hard and long on a project, without having to get instant gratification and move to quicker to the next buyer of whatever we are selling? Doesn't there need to be some kind of balance between technology and the human touch? I think so.
I love my computer too. I 'm happy to have a convenient system to promote that will make people money. But have found few people interested in stopping and talking to me on a one on one basis. And forget it if you have questions. The attitude is that there's plenty out there to use to get answers on your own. Why bother with those who are not 'with it' enough to 'keep up'. ('However, for a cost of approximately $300.00 a month, we will be glad to let you in on our trade secrets and marketing strategies'). I'm serious here, that is really how it's going out there. That was an actual offer from one of the most 'happening' (so-called) groups of marketing pros on the Internet today.
All I'm saying is Systems Fail. People Work.
And, yes I have heard that said in Internet marketing circles online. It is however True. But, how about using some good old fashioned strategies to help people today?
The Old Fashioned Notions:
*Be Available – I actually talk to people on the Phone! *Have Patience - Take time to Help People *Listen and be Willing to Learn - For goodness sake, you are not the guru of the universe. Enough with the mentorship *Respect Others - Realize everyone has something to contribute *Treat People Kindly - Allow people to express their emotions! When I am frustrated, I cry! Or when I am happy, I cry! – Its called being 'Human' Get Over it!
The reason for writing this is because of actual experiences I have had in the last six or so months. Since I am new at this, I have been seeking to learn the what, why, how, when, and where. I've spent hours listening on conference calls, talked to marketing professionals new and old, and have received numerous offers from automated email telling me I must do this or do that. I wonder sometimes, when this trend is going to end? I suppose that as a society we have forgotten that technology is a tool. It is Not The One controlling the show.
We are human beings, and need to remember, that the people seeking to improve their lives, (you know- the one you blew off because you thought they were too green, or too slow or too stupid – you know- the one you hung up on, or lied to about having a meeting to go to – that same one) are human beings also. We are people. Not leads. Not machines. I want to prosper. I want to earn money. I want to have more. But I also want to remember that people are Human Beings. Don't we have any respect for that anymore?

...ProsperityTHE STORY OF MANEKI NEKO (LUCKY CAT) From ancient Japan, many wonderful stories have been told about Lucky Cat. Lucky Cats are very popular in Japan. They are placed at the entrances of houses and in store windows. Japanese love to have them as mascots, to bring good fortune, to invite happiness and to bring prosperity to businesses. The white Lucky Cat is valued as the one that invites happiness. The golden Lucky Cat is the one that brings riches. The one raising its left hand is the one that invites customers to business. The right hand raised invites prosperity. Now it is your good fortune to own a Japanese Lucky Cat and we wish it will bring you and your family more happiness, good fortune and prosperity.
Maneki Neko, or tri-colored cats, has been long taken by Japanese sailors on their ships to bring them good luck. The native Bobtail, according to legend, is the Japanese cat of preference because it is less likely to "bewitch" you with a twitching tail. The figure of a cat with its left paw raised is commonly seen in gift shops in Japan where they are sold as souvenirs. It is believed that the beckoning cat brings good fortune to its owner.
