Current mood:  awake
Listeners to my podcast will know that I've recently had some wonderful guests on, including Matt Churchill, Dave Cochran and Roy Harper himself. I've been wondering how on earth I can top that! The podcast has always liked to present the general thoughts and feelings of "fans" of the music and I shall be returning to that mode for a little while. I have some other musical luminaries in my sights, though it sometimes takes a long time to arrange.

I'd be interested in any ideas that people might have for other interview subjects (even you yourself! Don't be shy, get in touch). I have some old RH interviews on stand by as well as I think people might like to hear the old older interview in a historical perspective.

I had a tricky last few weeks! The xmas period used up a lot of time of course, and I was really busy with work in December. Then I fell ill right after xmas. I had also been trying to set up the interview with El Rose for some time; as you'll discover if you listen, she's studying law at the moment (bar vocational course) and had exams and revising requirements that always seemed to clash with my free times.

We got there in the end though.

I used Adobe Audition on this one to make the overall volume louder and I'm quite pleased; the music will sound a bit different to what you'd get on the actual CDs but you might not notice unless you do a side by side comparison. The idea is to make it easier to listen to in a noisy environment (ipod headphones on a train etc).

Various people encouraged me to do something about Nick in the podcasts and after I got the offer of interviewing him directly, I realised that a "Nick Special" was the way to go. Nick is an incredibly talented musician and certainly has no need of any association with his dad Roy to be a success. If you haven't heard his music, you should check it out here.

I cut back on the commentary quite a bit on this one as there was a lot of music and interviews to get through, so less idle chit-chat from me. Probably a good thing.

This podcasting lark is fun but it uses up a lot of time. I now have the utmost respect for audio engineers after fiddling with the audio of podcast 3 for hours and hours yesterday and today trying to get everything just right!

Anyway I published the third one today and you can find it at http://www.stormcock.net/node/367.

The interview I did with Steve and Pete from Australia ran very long (more than 50 minutes) and that was after editing a lot of pauses and "ermms" out. So I decided to make the interview a two-parter rather than cut out music or other parts of the podcast. It'll be interesting to see what people make of that.

The next podcast will cover the Stormcock reissue, but for now I have written a text review of it that you can find on my web site at http://www.stormcock.net/node/363

... and set up a myspace account to help spread the word about the podcast. I've had Dave Burnham nagging me about it so I'll do anything for a quiet life. If you can help get people listening in to the podcast I'll be extremely grateful.

At the moment I have two episodes out there. The idea is to do them monthly. It will depend a little on the availability of interviewees, as I think that's the core part of the podcast.
