A long time ago, the Park Theater in my hometown was guaranteed to show horror or monster movies on Saturday afternoons. And my mom would kick me out of the house on Saturdays to go see one. (Normally she’d say "why don’t you run around the house a few times?" But that goes by too fast. Better to get rid of me for hours, walking downtown, seeing -- hopefully -- a double feature, and walking back. Slowly.)Here are a few I enjoyed:

"Godzilla v. Monster Zero" -- EEEEYAHHH!"
The Navy v. the Night Monsters" -- a sailor lost an arm to those bad boys."
Equinox" -- I thought that was the name of a giant monster in the movie, not a particular time of year. LOL
"Santa Claus meets the Martians" -- what the H*LL is that doing in there????

Nowadays, the Park Theater houses an acting troupe, the Magical Players. I’ve never seen anything they do. But it was about that time that the West Theater across town started hosting live casts for "Rocky Horror" on Saturday nights at midnight -- which they have hosted ever since. And I have that crew on my friends list. (Are they in my top friends? I better check that...)Since most horror movies are just as crappy now as they were then, let’s bring ’em back. Special matinees at the West on Saturday afternoons! How about it?

Try, if you can, to read the graphic novel before you see the movie.  It's a wonder.  :-)

Here are a few reasons for zombies to prefer the brains of the living over other dishes.

  1. They love to look at a "no-brainer" when finished.
  2. Brains are the specialty on the menu when Hannibal is cooking.
  3. The victims aren't usually using their brains for anything else.  If they were, they'd outrun the zombies.
  4. Brains: the energy food.
  5. For some reason, brains get more of a pop out of movie audiences than intestines.
Does the list go on and on?
